In the south-east of the capital, in the Vykhino-Zhulebino district, a plot of land of almost 0.32 hectares was provided to an investor for the construction of a production complex for the manufacture of doors, windows and other products made of wood and plastic. In the same district, the investor will build a production facility for tile modules made of wood. For this purpose, the city allocated 0.7 hectares of land to the investor at a preferential rental rate.

Land plots of 17 hectares have been provided to the investor in the Eastern communal zone of Zelenograd. The company will build a modern industrial complex with a total area of 80 thousand square meters. Several modern production facilities will appear there at once – enterprises for the production of doors, aerated concrete blocks and ready-made modules.

The city also provided 1.45 hectares of land in the Voronovo district for the construction of an enterprise for the development, testing and pilot production of building materials. Its area will be about 12 thousand square meters.

The architectural monument of constructivism, a cultural heritage site of regional significance, is located on Volochaevskaya Street (house 48, buildings 1 and 2). It was built in the early 20th century according to the design of the architect Ignatius Milinis. Currently, the Palace of Culture consists of two buildings connected by a passage.

The project to restore the historical appearance of the monument was developed based on archival drawings and photographs. The restoration of the facades of the surviving buildings will be carried out based on the period of the 1950s. At the same time, the restoration of part of the flat roofs, the color schemes of the facades and the interiors will return to the appearance of the 1930s. In addition, the work includes the reconstruction of the sports building.

To ensure access for equipment to the Palace of Culture, an access road will be organized along the border of the architectural monument. This will be done in such a way as not to affect the necropolis of the Spaso-Andronikov Monastery. It will be possible to drive up along the road that existed here in the 1960-1980s. Archaeological research was previously conducted on this territory, and archaeological observations of the work will also be organized during the arrangement of the access road.

The work on the Palace of Culture is being supervised by specialists from the Moscow City Heritage Department: they are monitoring its compliance with the agreed project. After the restoration is completed, this place will become an art quarter and will attract the attention of residents and guests of the capital.

How the Palace of Culture of the Hammer and Sickle Plant was built and changed

An open competition for the design of the Palace of Culture of the "Serp i Molot" plant was held by order of the All-Union Union of Metalworkers in 1929. A site above the slope of a hill near the walls of the Spaso-Andronikov Monastery with an area of 10.95 thousand square meters was allocated for construction. Participants had to offer options for a three-story brick building with an auditorium for a thousand people, a library, a buffet and rooms for clubs and sports.

Compared to similar buildings built earlier, the requirements for the Palace of Culture project included certain conditions. Thus, a workers' rest room was needed, and the buffet had to serve both the auditorium and club sections without mixing the public in these sections. In addition, they were instructed to think through utility rooms at the buffet: a storeroom, a prep room, a washroom, a cellar, an icehouse, and rooms for storing linen and dishes. Their absence in the already built clubs of that time complicated daily work.

This building was conceived as a large public complex for the All-Union Union of Metalworkers. Architect Ignatiy Milinis took second place in the announced competition, but it was his project that was accepted for implementation due to the most successful use of the site. The master based his solution on dividing the entertainment, club and sports parts of the building into independent structures, united by passages at the level of the second floor.

Thus, the club complex with an open courtyard in front of the main entrance occupied most of the hill. From the side of Volochaevskaya Street, a wide staircase rose to the building – one of the expressive elements of the overall composition of the complex. It led to the entrance to the Palace of Culture, which stood out with a powerful canopy of a curved shape. The front courtyard was considered an open vestibule, and in the more closed space of the inner courtyard, limited by the concert, club and sports buildings, it was possible to arrange a summer stage. The original innovative solution of the courtyard space provided additional opportunities for various forms of club activity.

The building of the club of the "Serp i Molot" plant became one of the largest completed complexes of the constructivism era, in which the features of contemporary architecture of that time were most fully embodied. Already in the 1950s, the first reconstruction of the club was carried out, which brought elements of Soviet architecture of the period of development of classical heritage into the appearance of the building.

Just as he layers borrowed techniques on a Chinese shaded base, Zhou Yiwen introduces into the minimalist two-color plane of Far Eastern graphics pictorial and sculptural, ready-made and reworked images of the best Renaissance and later works of European art. Here, next to each other, is a feather, the image of which Chinese artists have been honing for three thousand years, and the head of Michelangelo's David or da Vinci's Mona Lisa, to which European culture has long aspired. In the semantic center is a dove, sometimes depicted carefully, sometimes simplified, and sometimes only a feather that has fallen from the sky is shown.

In other rooms, a painted Taoist sculpture and a cartoon cat are added, and much more could be added. All of these are just ready-made bricks, indistinguishable from a brushstroke or a line, from which the building of the art that Zhou Yiwen is engaged in is constructed. However, one of the most important questions for him remains how to escape from the influence of the West and return to his own creative identity.

"The project is called "Spring after Autumn" because the artist's entire figurative world, which is presented at the exhibition, testifies to the fact that after any possible time of complexity, sadness, contradictions, there always comes a time of renewal. It can also be seen that the artist himself is very keen on the idea of appropriating images of the European Renaissance. We can recall that the Renaissance was called the "spring of art". The artist himself puts this phenomenon at the forefront, calls it the light of enlightenment, which can enlighten any culture and reconcile any contradictions," explains the curator of the exhibition, Katerina Zaitseva.

East to West, West to East

The Moscow exhibition, which focuses on more intimate works, does not include the artist’s large-scale works that took part in his world tour, which began in China and continued in Florence and Venice last year. The green horse seems to demand a Russian context and appears at the exhibition, but not next to, say, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, but surrounded by works of art carefully selected from the MMOMA collection by curators Katerina Zaitseva and Igor Kostrikov. These are the graphic series “Elusiveness” by Rostan Tavasiev and “Case of Sensations” by Igor Makarevich. "We re-watched the film and wanted to tell the story of three friends 20 years later, just like in the original. The storyline of our main character is very similar to the one Valentin Chernykh had in his script "Twice Lied", which won the Moscow script competition and then went to Vladimir Menshov. But the two friends have completely different stories, conflicts and problems. We don't have a hockey player and a builder – in general, everything is different," added director Zhora Kryzhovnikov.

Filming with the support of Moscow

The action takes place in recognizable and popular places of the city. "This year we are renovating one of the capital's key thoroughfares – Volgogradsky Prospekt and Marxistskaya Street. The main task is to improve pedestrian and transport accessibility of important city objects, to ensure comfortable and safe movement of pedestrians. As part of the work, we will replace a total of more than 490 thousand square meters of asphalt concrete pavement," said Pyotr Biryukov.

The road surface here was last changed in 2021. According to regulations, the service life between repairs of asphalt for category one roads, which includes Volgogradsky Prospekt, is three years.

The work is carried out in several stages. First, the existing pavement is milled, inspection wells and rain grates are repaired, and then a new asphalt concrete surface is laid and road markings are applied. The events involve 217 people and 143 units of specialized equipment.
