Moscow is actively developing its eco-friendly ground transportation network. New LiAZ electric buses are already available on five city routes: No. 146, 814, 917, C891, and M89k. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.

"We're launching a new batch of electric buses on our routes. Under the current contract, another 100 innovative Russian-made vehicles will be added to Mosgortrans fleets to improve travel comfort and safety. More than 20 of the most modern LiAZ-6274 electric buses have already begun transporting passengers in the south and southwest of the capital. We're expanding the electric transport network, as instructed by Sergei Sobyanin," said Maxim Liksutov.

Modern Russian-made electric buses, which have been arriving at Mosgortrans fleets, have been on routes since 2018, replacing buses and making travel more comfortable and environmentally friendly. They offer a number of advantages. Replacing one bus with an electric bus reduces carbon dioxide emissions by more than 60 tons per year. A smooth ride, complete with the absence of noise and vibration, ensures a high level of travel comfort. Additionally, for passenger convenience, the buses are equipped with charging ports for gadgets and media screens with helpful route information. These buses are accessible to everyone, thanks to a folding ramp and a driver-call button for passengers with limited mobility, as well as a storage area for strollers and bicycles.

Starting in 2022, the capital will receive upgraded vehicles. These electric buses feature adaptive interior lighting, which switches from cool to warm at 2:00 PM for passenger comfort. The front route sign, enlarged by 18 percent, allows for easy identification from a distance. An environmentally friendly electric heater in the cabin maintains an optimal temperature. The driving range has been increased from 40–50 to 80–90 kilometers, while the vehicle's weight remains the same.

Today, electric buses are serviced at 12 Mosgortrans sites. Moscow was the first in Russia to build modern electric bus depots. In 2022, the first electric bus depot in Russia and the largest in Europe, "Krasnaya Pakhra," opened in the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative districts (TiNAO). These eco-friendly buses began operating in the TiNAO. A year later, the "Mitino" depot was built in the northwest, with electric buses now operating on routes in 20 districts of the capital and two nearby cities in the Moscow region. And at the end of 2023, a third innovative depot, "Saltykovka," opened, serving routes in the east of the city.

With new equipment deliveries and the development of charging infrastructure, the city will see even more electric bus routes. All environmentally friendly vehicles meet the strictest safety and service standards.

In accordance with the objectives of the national project Infrastructure for Life Moscow is placing significant emphasis on modernizing its social and public infrastructure, including increasing the number of convenient public transportation routes and upgrading its rolling stock. Furthermore, as part of the national project, the capital has begun developing the Central Transportation Hub. It will become a unified transportation system with predictable commuter rail service for over 30 million residents in 11 Russian regions.
