From high-quality road maintenance to efficient operation of KAMAZ divisions

The KAMAZ PJSC Department of Specialized Equipment and Road Maintenance has been operating around the clock. Since the start of the winter season, more than 33,000 cubic meters of snow have been removed from KAMAZ sites.

According to Mikhail Suranovich, Director of the Department of Specialized Equipment and Road Maintenance (DSTISAD), work is organized around the clock. On the first shift, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., an average of 20 vehicles are on the road, while at night, four to six vehicles are on duty. "While everyone is sleeping, we clear the areas in front of the administrative building and the parking lots for passenger vehicles. We strive to ensure that KAMAZ workers have a good morning. Around 20 people are engaged in manual labor every day: it's mainly women who beautify the bus stops. To prevent accidents, we strive to make the roads wider. We promptly clear snow from the storage area of KAMAZ Trade and Finance Company vehicles. It's important that the equipment can be transported to the customer without any problems, if needed," said Mikhail Suranovich.

The department oversees 64 kilometers of factory roads, over 600,000 square meters of paved areas, 34 public transportation stops, and 12 underground crossings. The vehicles involved in site cleanups can be heavily loaded. To ensure tractors, bulldozers, graders, and other equipment remain operational, the department has maintenance personnel who quickly get them back on track in the event of technical problems.

The unit begins preparations for ice removal well in advance. In the second half of summer, specialists prepare a thousand tons of sand and salt mixture, which is used daily during the winter to remove ice. This agent breaks down the compacted snow and facilitates removal. Industrial salt is also used, spread on the roads by a grit spreader truck, whose crew works around the clock. The technology is simple: under the wheels of thousands of vehicles, the snow cover turns into "mush," and then graders remove it from the road.

Snow is removed to company-approved sites on KAMAZ premises and to a backup site off-site. "Last winter season, we removed 21,550 cubic meters of snow. Since the start of this season, we've removed 33,600 cubic meters. Our results already significantly exceed last year's," noted Mikhail Suranovich.

Kolomna Plant employee Anatoly Vasilyevich Podoprosvetov received the People's Prize "Bright Past"

Anatoly Vasilyevich Podoprosvetov, an employee of the Kolomensky Plant, received the "Bright Past" People's Award for his significant contribution to the development of domestic locomotive engineering! The award ceremony took place on January 26 of this year at the Naum Orlov Drama Theater in Chelyabinsk.

The "Bright Past" People's Award was established by bard Oleg Mityaev 22 years ago and has held federal status since 2010. The award's winners are outstanding natives of the Chelyabinsk region.

Anatoly Vasilyevich Podoprosvetov is the chief locomotive designer at the Kolomna Plant, serving in this position for 25 years, from 1994 to 2019. He was one of the creators of the TEP80 diesel locomotive, with its unique undercarriage, which set a speed record of 271 km/h (still unbroken).

Under Podoprosvetov's leadership, the Kolomensky Plant developed the first domestic mainline DC passenger electric locomotive, the EP2K; the TEP70BS passenger diesel locomotive, which supplied power to train cars; the 2TE70 freight diesel locomotive, capable of hauling trains weighing over 6,000 tons; and, in collaboration with diesel engine specialists, developed modular, transportable, multi-purpose power plants for the oil and gas industry.

Global modernization continues at the Kolomensky plant

Two new vertical CNC lathes have begun operation in Machine Shop No. 63. They are designed for machining large gears: one machine can handle workpieces up to 6,300 mm in diameter, the other up to 5,000 mm.

The key advantages of the new equipment are high productivity and precision. The machines are equipped with linear guides and automatic lubrication and cooling systems. This allows them to withstand heavy cutting conditions, reducing the number of roughing passes and overall machining time. Compared to previous models, the new machines operate faster and produce better surface quality.

Currently, production programs for two product lines have already been developed for the machines. The plant plans to significantly expand this product range.

The equipment purchase was made as part of the technical re-equipment investment program—the largest in the TMH Group. The program is being implemented with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and loans from the Industrial Development Fund (IDF). It includes not only the modernization of the machine tool fleet but also the development of new component production and the expansion of the plant's testing capacity.

The name of Kolomna Zavod worker and Hero of the Soviet Union Mikhail Konovalov is immortalized in Kolomna.

An information plaque honoring the Hero was unveiled on the building where Mikhail Konovalov lived (No. 13, located on Oksky Prospekt). The ceremony was attended by Konovalov's family, relatives, and friends, as well as representatives of the workforces of the enterprises where Mikhail Sergeyevich worked, including a delegation from the Kolomensky Plant.

Konovalov worked at our plant as a mechanic. He got the job right after graduating from school. He proved himself a responsible and competent specialist. In 1934, he was drafted into the Red Army. After serving his mandatory military service, he returned to the workforce at the Kolomensky plant.

In 1939, Konovalov was again called up to serve in the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. From November 1941, Mikhail served on the front lines of the Great Patriotic War. He participated in battles at Stalingrad, the Kursk Bulge, and Belgorod, in Belarus. By June 1944, Guards Sergeant Mikhail Konovalov commanded a squad of the 158th Guards Rifle Regiment, 51st Guards Rifle Division, 6th Guards Army, 1st Baltic Front. He distinguished himself during the crossing of the Western Dvina.

On June 25, 1944, Konovalov was one of the first to cross the Western Dvina River near the village of Balbechye, Beshenkovichi District, Vitebsk Region, Byelorussian SSR. Upon reaching the left bank of the river, he was the first to break into enemy trenches, killing six Nazi soldiers. Eighteen more men crossed the river to Konovalov's aid. The enemy launched two counterattacks, but the brave soldiers repelled them, killing approximately 40 German soldiers and four machine guns. This enabled the division's two regiments to successfully cross the river.

Near Polotsk, Mikhail was wounded, treated in a medical battalion, and then again went west with his regiment.

By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 22, 1944, for “exemplary performance of combat missions of the command on the front in the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism displayed in doing so,” Guards Sergeant Mikhail Konovalov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal, number 8625.

He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st degree, and a number of medals.

On December 25, 1944, Guards Senior Sergeant Mikhail Konovalov was seriously wounded. Shrapnel from an exploding mine pierced his face, chest, arm, and leg. He spent nearly six months in hospitals and underwent several surgeries. But the doctors nursed the soldier back to health.

In 1945, M.S. Konovalov was demobilized from the Soviet Army due to poor health. He returned to Kolomna and underwent extensive treatment. From 1951 to 1971, he worked as a mechanic at a Kolomna enterprise.

Mikhail Semenovich died on January 17, 2002, and was buried in the Old City Cemetery of Kolomna.

A new art object adorns the workshop of the Kolomensky plant.

Artists Pavel Khomich and Kirill Roshchin created a new large-scale mural on the wall of the Kolomna plant's body shop.

The artwork is executed in a style familiar to the plant's employees: a dominant blue and light blue palette with bright orange accents. The artists drew inspiration for the theme from the factory's romantic atmosphere and real-life images of the plant. The wall depicts a wheel set, the body of a modern TEP70BS diesel locomotive, portraits of Soviet workers, and current welders Elena Bragina and Elena Bogdanova.

The results of the pre-New Year competition "We have a New Year!" have been announced.

Vadim Yakovlev, the plant's CEO, and Oleg Tsygankov, the production director, congratulated the divisional representatives who won the traditional pre-New Year's competition, "We've Got a New Year!", for the best decoration of production facilities.

The 115th anniversary of the birth of twice Hero of the Soviet Union Vasily Aleksandrovich Zaitsev was marked at the Kolomensky plant with a patriotic event.

A patriotic event was held at the Kolomensky Plant to commemorate the 115th anniversary of the birth (January 10, 1911) of twice Hero of the Soviet Union Vasily Aleksandrovich Zaitsev, who worked at our plant in the cast iron foundry before the war.

Electrical engineering students from the Kolomna College learned about the glorious history of the Kolomna plant. Museum curator Marina Katkova focused on the Great Patriotic War and the service of our plant's employees on the battlefield and behind the lines, 15 of whom were awarded the country's highest military award. Retired naval aviation colonel Dmitry Iosifovich Gumovsky spoke to the students in more detail about Vasily Aleksandrovich's development as a pilot and his exploits in the air. As deputy head of the public organization "Veterans of Military Service and Law Enforcement Agencies" in the Kolomna urban district, he often conducts such courage lessons at educational institutions in the city.

The automobile plant's team won the Grand Prix of the first KVN festival game of KAMAZ PJSC.

The KAMAZ Community Center hosted the first festival game of the KAMAZ Club of the Merry and Inventive. The event was timed to coincide with three significant dates: the 50th anniversary of the first KAMAZ truck, the 55th anniversary of the auto giant's Trade Union, and the 400th anniversary of the founding of Naberezhnye Chelny.

Nine teams representing various KAMAZ plants, divisions, and subsidiaries participated in the first game of the season. The debutant team was "Vazhnaya Detal" (Important Detail) from AvtoZapchast KAMAZ LLC. The event was organized by the auto giant's Trade Union.

A new model of KDM based on the K5 KAMAZ-65951 dump truck has been released.

KAMAZ PJSC and the Smolmash plant have launched a new combined road vehicle, the KDM-7881190, based on the K5 generation dump truck, the KAMAZ-65951 (8×4).

The new KDM is based on a high-tech four-axle KAMAZ-65951 chassis. This latest-generation K5 is designed for operation in harsh conditions. The vehicle's gross vehicle weight reaches 50 tons, with the front axles supporting loads of up to 18 tons, and the rear bogie supporting up to 32 tons. The vehicle is equipped with a modern KAMAZ R6 diesel engine with a displacement of 13 liters, a power output of 482 hp, and a torque of 2,403 Nm. It is coupled with a 16-speed transmission. The pneumatic brake system with EBS and an electronically controlled parking brake meets modern safety standards. The comfortable cabin is equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable driver experience. A multimedia system with navigation, hands-free calling, music and video playback, vehicle parameter monitoring, and cabin heater control is also included. The 8×4 wheel arrangement ensures high cross-country capability and versatility.

Smolmash engineers designed the new KDM model to make the flagship KAMAZ-65951 dump truck an effective tool for year-round maintenance and cleaning of paved roads. The solution is based on a quick-release sand and salt spreader with a 14-cubic-meter carbon steel hopper. This design ensures high versatility: the special equipment can be quickly converted without losing its primary dump truck functions. To effectively combat ice, a de-icing agent wetting system with 3,000-liter plastic tanks is included, and the hopper is equipped with a heavy-duty cover to protect the de-icing agent from external influences. Particular attention was paid to control during development: the reagent distribution process is fully automated (the spreading density is adjustable from 5-500 g/m²; the spreading width is adjustable from 1.2 to 12 m) and is controlled from the driver's cab. The engineers also provided duplicate control using an ergonomic joystick, which allows the operator to instantly adjust operating parameters.

A powerful LED light on the cab and an additional LED panel located on top of the hopper provide excellent visibility at night. To warn other road users in poor visibility, strobe lights are installed, as well as active LED "Arrow" and "Road Works" signs.

In addition to the spreading equipment, the KDM is equipped with a four-meter-wide, hydraulically rotating composite plow blade. The use of composite materials allows for a lightweight design and improved snow glide, ensuring high-quality road surface clearing even at high operating speeds.

The 7th International Russian-Chinese Winter Sports Festival "ZimFestAmur" took place in Blagoveshchensk. The opening ceremony took place on the frozen border of the Amur River, with the participation of Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Vasily Orlov, Governor of the Amur Region.
