The "Vozrozhdenie Prirody" (Revival of Nature) Charitable Foundation partnered with the "Golden October" festival, which took place on October 4, World Animal Day, in the picturesque village of Barabash. The event became a true celebration, bringing together hundreds of nature and art lovers from across Russia.

The festival's opening was marked by a stunning exhibition of paintings, "Spotted and Striped." Organized by the International Union of Animal Artists, along with talented representatives of the local art community, the event showcased approximately 35 canvases created specifically for the festival. These works capture the beauty and uniqueness of the wild cats that inhabit Land of the Leopard National Park. Artists from across Russia captured the atmosphere of these rare animals' natural habitats, inspiring viewers to conserve wildlife.

One of the highlights of the festival were performances by renowned regional groups, including international competition winner Tatyana Moleva, the impressive acoustic duo Reverse, and the beautiful Evgenia Brodt. The traditional culture of the indigenous Udege people, represented by the Uli Kyalani ensemble, was particularly admired. Their authentic dances and music delighted the audience, highlighting the importance of preserving the cultural heritage and traditions of the peoples of the Far East.

A special mention was made of the costume contest, where guests embodied the wild cats living in the reserve. All participants received a sweet prize—delicious cotton candy—and the most striking costumes were entered into a fashion show. The winners were awarded by the festival's general sponsor, VTB Bank, and the event partner, the "Revival of Nature" Charitable Foundation. All participants received exclusive souvenir sets, "Spotted Eco-Souvenirs," developed in collaboration with Land of the Leopard National Park.

A rich entertainment program was prepared for every festival guest: a variety of game zones, engaging quizzes, master classes, and a fair of unique handicrafts from local artisans. A raffle, held on site, added a touch of fun and excitement to the festive day.

Thus, the Golden October festival not only entertained guests but also actively engaged them in understanding the importance of protecting the environment and wildlife. This initiative became a significant cultural event, strengthening the connection between nature and society, promoting environmental values.

The Zapovedniki Ecocenter, in collaboration with the Zapovednoye Polostelstvo (Protected Embassy) charitable educational foundation and Rosatom and SIBUR, will hold a press conference and several business events at the IUCN World Conservation Congress, which will be held in Abu Dhabi from October 9 to 15, 2025.

Congress website: HTTPS: //yuchnkhress2025.org/

For the first time, Russian NGOs and businesses will present a range of their own research and innovations in biodiversity conservation and showcase effective collaboration projects with specially protected natural areas in various countries.

The IUCN Congress is held every four years and sets development priorities and formats for cooperation in nature conservation and biodiversity preservation for years to come. The Congress is the largest platform for exchanging experiences in environmental protection and sustainable development. The IUCN Congress will host over 1,400 IUCN member organizations from 160 countries: 10,000 participants are expected. Scientists, experts, representatives of businesses, NGOs, and natural areas from around the world will share experiences, innovations, and the results of their work.

"The role of specially protected natural areas in biodiversity conservation is crucial. In Russia, protected areas occupy over 245 million hectares, nearly 14% of the country's land area. The Russian Federation has been a long-standing member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and the Zapovedniki Ecocenter, as a national non-profit organization, is a member of this largest conservation organization. We study global experience and are pleased to share best Russian practices in the field of protected areas and environmental education with the global conservation community, including our own developments, which traditionally attract significant interest from the global public," noted Natalia Danilina, Director of the Zapovedniki Ecocenter and President of the Zapovedniki Foundation.

The press conference "New Scientific Research, Business, and Innovations in Biodiversity Conservation and Their Impact on International Cooperation" will be held on October 12, 2025, from 11:00 to 11:30 in the Congress press conference room (for online participants, Moscow time: 10:00 to 10:30). Participants will include Natalia Danilina, President of the Nature Conservation Embassy Foundation and Director of the Zapovedniki Ecocenter; Olga Shkabardnya, General Director of ANO Energy of Development and Head of CSR and Internal Communications at Rosatom State Corporation; Raisa Momot, Head of Sustainable Development at SIBUR; and Yulia Vereshchak, Director of International Projects at the Nature Conservation Embassy Foundation. Contacts for accreditation to the press conference in person (for media accredited to the congress or online): 7-910-403-41-50, Damargulyan@vildnet.ru.

"The sustainable development agenda is an integral part of Rosatom State Corporation's operations. The company adheres to ten principles of sustainable development, and ESG priorities are included in the Company's Strategy to 2030. Rosatom's product line includes low-carbon energy solutions, environmental solutions, and other products aimed at improving people's quality of life. When developing new business areas, special attention is paid to the impact on the environment and climate. As part of environmental protection, another area of the State Corporation's activities is measures aimed at reclaiming disturbed lands, revegetation, and preserving biodiversity. This year, together with leading Russian research institutes, we began researching biodiversity and studying best practices for biodiversity conservation in Russia and worldwide. We believe that effective solutions in this area are possible through international cooperation," noted Olga Shkabardnya, Director General of ANO Energy of Development and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility and Internal Communications at Rosatom State Corporation.

Natalia Danilina, Director of the Zapovedniki Ecocenter and President of the Zapovednoye Posledstvo Foundation, will discuss the role of NGOs in collaborating with protected areas to preserve biodiversity. The Zapovednoye Posledstvo Foundation will also present a recent big data study on public attitudes toward protected areas.

At the "Partnership for Nature Conservation" session, which will take place on October 11 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM in the Educational HUB pavilion, representatives from businesses, NGOs, and protected areas will gather to discuss examples of effective partnerships aimed at nature conservation and sustainable development. Rosatom and SIBUR, together with the Nature Conservation Embassy, will share their experiences in creating environmental education programs aimed at nature conservation through partnerships and projects that engage company employees and the general public.

"Cooperation between non-profit organizations, protected areas, and progressive, socially and environmentally responsible businesses is incredibly important today. After all, businesses today are not just donors, but active drivers of environmental initiatives in the regions where they operate. Businesses have the financial and resource capacity to implement projects, train their employees, and educate themselves. Today, businesses are not just those participating in the regional environmental agenda, but those shaping it," noted Yulia Vereshchak, Director of International Projects at the Nature Conservation Embassy Foundation.

The session "In the Language of Nature Reserves" will take place on October 10th from 12:00 to 12:45 in the Educational HUB pavilion and will highlight the importance of protecting wildlife and protected areas worldwide. The session draws on the Zapovedniki Ecocenter's 30 years of experience in environmental education, training reserve staff, and creating innovations in interpreting conservation topics through interactive formats such as games, lessons, and engaging activities. "Game-based practices allow us to present complex scientific data in an accessible way, thereby gaining new allies in nature conservation. These types of mechanisms are important for educators, teachers, volunteers, and protected area staff. For its part, the Zapovedniki Foundation will present a collection of best practices, which brings together environmental education practices from five countries," noted Yulia Vereshchak, Director of International Projects at the Zapovedniki Foundation.

01.Oct.2025 Norilsk Nickel summed up the results of a decade of implementing social programs, awarding regional leaders and expressing gratitude to partners in the protected environment

The Zapovednoye Posledstvo Foundation participated in this very significant celebration. It was dedicated to the tenth anniversary of Norilsk Nickel's social capital development program, which, since 2025, will be called "People of the Territory" and combines two programs: "Kindness Factory" and "World of New Opportunities."

Why is this so important and significant for us?!

For 10 years, we have been an expert partner of the environmental volunteer marathon "Poneslos" and other events.

Things are made clear from a distance! We started counting the benefits volunteers have brought to the protected areas over this time, and we were simply amazed:

– built more than 10 km of nature trails, including crossings over the channels of the Torey Lakes and observation platforms of the Daursky Nature Reserve,

– developed and installed an interactive site called “Reindeer Trail” in the Lapland Nature Reserve,

– equipped rest areas on the “Deaf Dam” trail in the Lapland Nature Reserve and the route to Varlama Island in the Pasvik Nature Reserve,

– built in several stages the “Climatic Route in the Krasnoyarsk Pillars National Park”, where more than 1.5 million people pass through each year,

– created an educational lesson “7 Wonders of the Arctic,” which was attended by more than 6 thousand schoolchildren,

– developed a set of original games aimed at environmental education of children, youth and adults, which was rated by more than 10,000 players,

and much more!

And of course, we were thrilled to attend the immersive performance—the presentation of the new program and the celebration dedicated to the tenth anniversary. It was a joy to see those with whom we share our good deeds for the benefit of nature! And it was also a pleasure to receive an award for our collaboration.

We say "Thank you" to our partners, and to all the company's volunteers and friends. May you have many new victories, projects, and accomplishments ahead, benefiting yourselves and the environment!

Practical ecology lessons at the Bastak Nature Reserve: connecting with nature and caring for the future

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Platform "Birobidzhan Without Format" shared inspiring news about a fascinating event held in the autumn forest of the Bastak Nature Reserve for schoolchildren studying at the school forestry department of the Leninskoye Secondary School. The event was held on a section of the "Uchebnaya" ecological trail, developed with the support of the "Vozrozhdenie Prirody" Charitable Foundation as part of the project "Preserving the Integrity of the Bastak Nature Reserve Ecosystem by Reducing Anthropogenic Load."

Autumn in the Bastak Nature Reserve is truly mesmerizing: golden treetops, a colorful carpet of leaves underfoot. It's the perfect place to explore nature and its riches. It was here that an educational meeting organized by the reserve's staff took place.

The practical lesson was timed to coincide with Forest Workers' Day and aimed to draw children's attention to environmental protection issues. Deputy Director for Research Ekaterina Sergeevna Lonkina introduced the children to the reserve's ecosystem, reminding them of the importance of forests and the need to care for them.

In addition to the theoretical part, the students gained unique field research experience. They learned to use specialized equipment: they measured tree trunk diameters, determined plant heights, and studied lighting and air quality in different areas of the reserve.

The lesson concluded with a captivating botany lesson: the children learned to identify tree species by fallen leaves while enjoying the beauty of autumn in the reserve.

Events like these help the younger generation understand the importance of natural resources and foster a responsible attitude toward nature. Thanks to the "Birobidzhan Without Format" platform for highlighting our foundation's important initiative!

Join our movement and help preserve nature with us!
