The Voin Center will take part in the tenth anniversary Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok. The organization's sites will be presented both on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University and, for the first time, at the Far East Street exhibition. "The Military-Sports Training and Patriotic Education Center for Youth "Voin" was created by order of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in 2022 to teach young people military-tactical skills and the ability to apply them in practice. Currently, branches of the center are open in 21 regions of Russia, including five subjects of the Far East – in Buryatia, Yakutia, Khabarovsk Krai, Sakhalin Oblast, and Kamchatka. Over 95 thousand cadets have already been trained at the Voin centers. More than 8 thousand teachers of basic military training have been retrained at the center. An outdoor area of over 500 sq. m will operate in the format of a military sports town, where anyone can take master classes in the training areas of the "Warrior" center. In the tactical medicine zone, guests will study cardiopulmonary resuscitation, learn how to apply a tourniquet and a tourniquet, and master the algorithm for evacuating a wounded person from the battlefield.

Visitors will also be able to learn how to operate a ground drone and an unmanned aerial vehicle in a special cube, test their skills in shooting from different types of laser weapons and disassembling and assembling AK-74M, AK-12 assault rifles and a Makarov pistol. In addition, a laser tag game will be organized for participants and guests of the forum.

The Russian Union of Martial Arts (RUMA) will take part in the program of the Voin center. Representatives of RUMA will conduct master classes and demonstration performances in hand-to-hand combat, karate and other types of martial arts.

Four federations will join forces to conduct a series of self-defense classes. Among them are demonstrations of effective techniques from participants of the Kyokushinkai Academy, practical advice from the Sambo Federation, training under the guidance of representatives of the Kendo and Kickboxing Federations.

Also on the outdoor area of the Voin center there will be an exposition of the Patriotic TOR – products of KhabinnoTech. The space will house modern samples of UAVs for both civilian and military purposes.

At the Voin Center stand on the FEFU campus, which will be located in Building A on level 3, forum participants will be able to get acquainted with the activities of its branches using an interactive multimedia panel. Guests will also have the opportunity to take part in master classes on tactical medicine, UAV control on a domestic simulator, and disassembly and assembly of a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

Both venues will host military-sports quests, and their participants are guaranteed valuable prizes from the Voin center.

The 10th Eastern Economic Forum will be held on September 3–6 at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. During these days, the exhibition "Far East Street" will be available to forum participants, and on September 7, 8, and 9, it will be open to everyone. Dmitry Chernyshenko: 940 thousand foreign tourists visited Russia using an electronic visa

“Russia continues to demonstrate growth in popularity among foreign tourists, which is due to the creation of tourism infrastructure and the introduction of simplified entry mechanisms,” said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, commenting on the bill adopted by the State Duma, expanding the possibilities of a single electronic visa for entry into Russia.

According to the document, the visa validity period has been increased from 60 to 120 days from the date of issue, and the permitted period of stay for foreign citizens in the country has increased from 16 to 30 days.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that extending the validity of the electronic visa and increasing the permitted period of stay in Russia is an important step towards foreign tourists.

"Our country is becoming increasingly popular with guests from abroad. Last year, the country was visited by more than 5 million foreign tourists, which is 30% more than the previous year. We see that foreign guests are increasingly using simplified entry mechanisms – applying for electronic visas. Over the first five months of 2025, more than 230 thousand foreign tourists entered the country using it, and in total, 940 thousand people used it during the period of operation of the mechanism. The new measures will make Russia even more accessible to international travelers and strengthen the country's position in the global tourism market," Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasized.

Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development, added: "The Ministry of Economic Development is systematically working to increase the attractiveness of Russia for foreign tourists. An electronic visa is one of the important mechanisms for simplified entry for tourists. The next step, which is currently being considered, is the possibility of its multiple use."

LHASA, July 11 (Xinhua) — A section of National Highway No. 216 leading to the Jilong Port of southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region reopened on Friday after being damaged by a mudslide on Tuesday, local authorities said.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and Cambodian Vice Premier and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhon met here on Thursday. They pledged to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation based on mutual benefit.

First-year student of the RUDN Medical Institute is a prize winner of the All-Russian competition "Roads to Rome"

What do the RUDN University General Medicine program and the Saratov State University Department of Russian and Foreign Literature have in common? Medical terms in Latin, encrypted in puzzles and a crossword by our student Violetta Jacqueline Flont.

The creative project of a first-year student of the medical institute took third place in the IV All-Russian competition of student scientific, educational and creative works "Roads to Rome". The competition, which was held by the Saratov university, was dedicated to the culture and history of antiquity and was timed to coincide with the birthday of the capital of Italy.

"Of the four nominations, I chose "Aenigmata (riddles)" because I love creative tasks that require unconventional thinking and a combination of logic and creativity. I selected medical terms for the rebuses and crossword puzzles based on several criteria: so that they were understandable to a wide audience, but at the same time interesting enough and aroused curiosity. I also took into account the possibility of visualizing the word in the rebus – I looked for words that can be broken down into parts or presented through images. And I tried to include terms related to the theme of the competition, for example, travel or the history of medicine," – Violetta Jacqueline Flönt (General Medicine, 1st year).

In total, she used 40 concepts in her work to describe the human body, among which were the words: cerebellum (cerebellum), ventriculus (stomach) and scapula (shoulder blade).

Deep into history

In preparation for the competition, the student found references to medicinal herbs and medical instruments from Ancient Rome in old books in the library. She also read materials on specialized forums and articles on medical terminology in Latin. Some words, such as “catheter,” have roots in antiquity, which added depth to her puzzles. Violetta noted that the most difficult to visualize were long and complex medical terms, such as “hypothermia” or “antiseptic.” For “hypothermia,” the contestant had to convey the idea of “low temperature” through simple images, which required breaking the word into parts (“hypo” and “thermia”) and searching for associations, such as ice or a thermometer.

"The knowledge I gained helped me better understand medical terminology and its etymology, which will be useful if I choose a profession related to medicine or science. Working on puzzles and crosswords developed the skills of structuring information and a creative approach to problem solving, which will be useful in any analytical or creative activity. In addition, I learned how to work with sources, check their reliability and adapt complex concepts for a wide audience – these are universal skills that will help in communication and project work in the future," – Violetta Jacklin Fleunt (General Medicine, 1st year).
