BEIJING, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) — China aims to ensure safe and secure supply of key artificial intelligence (AI) technologies by 2027, according to the document "Considerations on the Implementation of the Special Campaign for Artificial Intelligence Manufacturing Industry."
The document was recently released by eight government agencies, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the Office of the Central Cyberspace Commission, and the National Development and Reform Commission of China.
Deep integration of AI into the manufacturing industry is an important path to developing new productive forces and creating a modern industrial system.
The above document aims to accelerate the integrated application of AI technologies in the manufacturing industry, develop new-quality productive forces, and comprehensively promote new-type industrialization.
According to the document, by 2027, the country plans to promote the widespread use of 3-5 general-purpose AI models in the manufacturing industry, develop specialized AI models for specific industries, create 100 high-quality industrial datasets, and promote 500 typical application scenarios.
The document envisaged the creation of two to three globally influential ecosystem leaders and a group of small and medium-sized enterprises distinguished by production specialization, detailed management, unique products, and innovative activity, as well as the formation of a group of service providers who are knowledgeable in AI technologies and well-versed in the development of industrial sectors.
In addition, China plans to build a world-leading open-source ecosystem, enhance security management capabilities, and contribute to the global development of artificial intelligence.
The document listed specific measures to achieve the goals, including promoting the coordinated development of hardware and software for AI chips, supporting innovation in model training and inference methods, developing key industry big models, and promoting the widespread adoption of big model technologies in mainstream manufacturing processes.
According to the document, China will also focus on accelerating the expansion of the capabilities of industrial mother machines and industrial robots using AI technologies, strengthening research in key technologies such as ensuring the security of industrial model algorithms and protecting training data. -0-
