TEHRAN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) — The deputy director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will visit Iran on Monday, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Sunday, citing Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

According to the report, the Foreign Minister made the statement while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting.

A. Araghchi stressed that the purpose of the visit will be negotiations between Iran and the agency, noting that Iran has already provided the IAEA with the necessary clarifications regarding the new framework for bilateral cooperation in connection with the law on the suspension of cooperation adopted by the country's parliament and Constitutional Council at the end of June.

He stressed that no inspections or visits to Iranian nuclear facilities were planned during the IAEA deputy director general's visit, saying: "We have not yet reached a new agreement and cooperation will not begin."

Iran decided to suspend cooperation with the IAEA after the Israeli-American attacks on its nuclear facilities and the killing of Iranian nuclear scientists by Israel in June. Iran said it would stick to the decision unless the safety of its nuclear facilities and scientists was ensured.

Earlier, the semi-official Fars news agency reported that Massimo Aparo, deputy director general and head of the IAEA secretariat's Department of Safeguards, would visit Iran. -0-

The team of the Advanced Engineering School of SPbPU "Digital Engineering" won the Russian Ultralight Aviation Sports Championship on the improved aircraft "MIKS-500" (modified X-32 MIKS) in the discipline "Microplane-1". The aircraft was upgraded as part of the "Priority-2030" program. The competition was held from August 4 to 8, 2025, at the Seredka airfield in the Pskov region. The event was organized by the All-Russian public organization "United Federation of Ultralight Aviation Sports of Russia" with the support of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.

The purpose of the championship is to identify the strongest athletes to form a list of candidates for the Russian Federation sports teams to prepare for and participate in international sports competitions, as well as to prepare a sports reserve.

A total of 12 teams from St. Petersburg, Vladimir, Novgorod, Omsk, Pskov, Tula regions and the Republic of Bashkortostan took part in the championship. Over the course of several days, pilots demonstrated their aircraft control skills, including "deck landing", landing with the engine off, terrain orientation skills and the ability to remain calm in difficult flight situations.

The championship participants competed in the following sports disciplines.

"Deltalet-1" "Microplane-1" "Microplane-2" "Autogyro"

The team of the Advanced Engineering School of SPbPU is commander Alexander Rodin, navigator Vladislav Balashov and technician Egor Seryakov. The athletes study at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Transport of SPbPU and have been improving their engineering skills for over a year as laboratory assistants at the Experimental Design Bureau of the PISh SPbPU.

The winners and prize winners were determined by the sum of points scored based on the results of all flights. The team of polytechnicians made 10 flights and eventually scored 3080 points, showing the best result in their discipline. The aircraft commander Alexander Rodin will be awarded the rank of candidate for master of sports.

We had very intensive training organized by the Advanced Engineering School of SPbPU. The morning shift started at 5 am, and we were in the sky until 12 pm. After that, there were theoretical classes on aircraft piloting, navigation, radio exchange, meteorology and other subjects. The evening shift lasted from 5 pm to 8 pm. During the entire training period, we gained significant practical experience, flew more than 100 hours of flight time and received a lot of theoretical and practical knowledge from our mentors, the staff of the Advanced Engineering School of SPbPU. The crew managed to get to know the aircraft better, participate in the processes of modeling aerodynamics and strength, evaluate the flight characteristics and advantages of the aircraft, which allowed us to develop a strategy for winning the Russian championship. Yes, the weather conditions during the championship were difficult, the opponents were experienced and strong, and we participated in the competition for the first time. But we and our mentors believed in success and made every effort to achieve it, said aircraft commander Alexander Rodin.

Teams from Omsk and Pskov regions took second and third place in the “Microplane-1” discipline.

The improvement of the MIX-500 aircraft was carried out by specialists from the Design Bureau of the Advanced Engineering School of SPbPU under the leadership of Mikhail Korchkov.

Engineers from the Advanced Engineering School of SPbPU “Digital Engineering” developed mathematical and computer models of the aircraft and, using the digital platform for the development and application of digital twins CML-Bench® (developed by the Advanced Engineering School of SPbPU), performed a series of digital (virtual) tests of the X-32 MIX aircraft of the ASTC “AEROMIX” flying club on the aerodynamics and strength of the aircraft, based on the results of which it was modified to improve its aerodynamic characteristics. As a result, fairings for the wheels of the front and main landing gear were installed, a profile was installed to reduce aerodynamic drag on the wing struts. This was achieved in the shortest possible time, in just 1 month. All work was carried out within the framework of the key technological area (KNTH-1) “Systemic Digital Engineering” of the Priority-2030 university support program. The work carried out is the first stage in the creation of the CML-Aeroplane. In 2025-2026. We have planned to develop a digital twin of the aircraft based on the CML-Bench® digital platform, as well as to manufacture a prototype. Based on the created digital twin, advanced composite materials and advanced manufacturing technologies will be introduced into the aircraft design; the weight will be reduced while maintaining rigidity and strength characteristics; aerodynamic characteristics will be improved; the design and power scheme of the aircraft will be changed, – explained Mikhail Korchkov.

The listed changes mean a complete redesign of the aircraft. In the future, the aircraft will be converted into an unmanned aerial vehicle for aerial chemical work.

As for the winning team, the future plans of the Advanced Engineering School of SPbPU include participation in competitions on an aircraft of its own design.
