September 19th was a truly historic day at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials, and Transport (IMMT) at SPbPU. It was marked by two significant events: the grand opening of a state-of-the-art Engineering Development Center and the celebration of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Heat Treatment Department.

SPbPU Rector Andrey Rudskoy and IMMIT SPbPU Director Anatoly Popovich participated in the opening ceremony and celebratory events. They emphasized the continuity of generations and the profound connection between the institute's great history and innovative future.

"The center will become a breeding ground for talent and innovation for domestic industry," Andrey Rudskoy said during the ceremony. "Here, at the intersection of science and education, students will acquire unique competencies and work on real-world projects, making discoveries for the benefit of our country. And it's especially symbolic that we are laying the foundation for the future on a day when we celebrate our rich history."

"The Department of Heat Treatment's 95 years represent 95 years of training outstanding engineers, fundamental research, and technological breakthroughs," added Anatoly Popovich. "The new site—the Engineering Development Center—will be a worthy continuation of these traditions. It will inherit the scientific spirit and strict quality standards established by generations of scientists at this legendary department."

The anniversary celebration included a meeting with faculty members who had worked there at various times. Also present were graduates from various years, some of whom dedicated their lives to the Polytechnic University, while others chose other professional fields.

Symbolically, the first research projects at the new Center will focus on modern materials processing methods, continuing the scientific direction established by its predecessors. Thus, preserving and respecting its legacy, IMMiT is confidently building a high-tech future.

On September 19, the State University of Management conducted the first wave of seasonal influenza vaccinations for students and staff.

A dedicated team of doctors was stationed at the GUU dormitory so that those wishing to undergo the procedure could do so in a familiar and comfortable environment.

Yulia Larina, Chief State Sanitary Doctor for the South-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow, and her deputy, Olga Shevelkina, visited our university to assess the organization of the event and the preventive measures against seasonal infections. Along with Dmitry Bryukhanov, Acting Rector of the State University of Management, and Vitaly Lapshenkov, Vice Rector of the State University of Management, the guests visited the vaccination room, where they observed the procedure. Representatives of the rector's office were the first to receive the vaccine, demonstrating by example that vaccination is nothing to be afraid of.

"Traditionally, the fall period is associated with a surge in illnesses. Our students come from different regions, and everyone is placed in a new group. Some get sick more often than others, but all of this impacts their academic performance. We care about the health of our students and offer them voluntary and free vaccinations. They don't have to travel anywhere; they can simply come down to the first floor of the dormitory," said Dmitry Bryukhanov.

Next, representatives from Rospotrebnadzor and the rector's office of the State University of Management walked around the university grounds and watched informational videos about the benefits of getting a timely flu shot, which are shown on digital screens in all academic buildings of the first administrative building.

"We come to the State University of Management every year to administer vaccinations before the seasonal surge in flu and acute respiratory viral infections. Students actively get vaccinated to successfully pass their exams and attend classes. It's important to note that the incidence rate directly depends on the number of people vaccinated. If more than 75% of a group, department, or any association is vaccinated, herd immunity is achieved, and we see fewer cases," Yulia Larina recalled.

On September 18, 2025, the State University of Management hosted an open lecture by Altynai Omurbekova, Director of the Department of Labor Migration and Social Protection of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), on the topic: "A Single Labor Space: Prospects for Migration Policy in the EAEU."

The lecture was organized at the initiative of the Department of Economic Policy and Economic Measurement. Department Head and RAS Academician Sergei Glazyev delivered a welcome message to the event's participants, delivered by his deputy, Artem Savostitsky.

In her speech, Altynai Omurbekova outlined key trends in the development of the EAEU's single labor market, emphasizing the importance of overcoming legal and social barriers, expanding mechanisms for social protection of workers, and implementing digital solutions to simplify the registration of migrants. The speaker focused on the prospects for mutual recognition of qualifications and the development of a specialist mobility system within the Union.

Master's students from the "Economics of Integration Processes in the EAEU" program actively participated in the discussion, asking questions about barriers to labor migration, the future of digital employee profiles, and opportunities for young professionals within the Union.

The role of the Eurasian Network University (ENU) as a platform for expanding academic and professional mobility was particularly emphasized. Importantly, the State University of Management heads the ENU Secretariat, enabling the university to play a key role in developing educational and scientific ties between EAEU countries.

The lecture generated considerable interest among students and faculty at the State University of Management, demonstrating the importance of collaboration between the academic community and EAEU institutions in developing solutions for the formation of a single labor market and strengthening the human resources potential of the Union's countries.
