Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and the St. Petersburg Regional Public Organization "Association of Veterans of the North Caucasus Military District 'Defenders of the Motherland'" signed a strategic cooperation agreement, laying the foundation for the further development of their partnership.

Under the leadership of Vice-Rector for Continuing and Pre-University Education Dmitry Tikhonov, representatives of SPbPU held a working meeting with the chairman of the regional public organization "Association of Veterans of the North-West Military District "Defenders of the Motherland" of St. Petersburg, holder of the Order of Courage Georgy Zhuravlev, and the head of the organization's district branch in the Kalininsky District, a participant of the North-West Military District, Andrei Goncharov.

The partners discussed key issues of cooperation in the areas of patriotic education, social rehabilitation, continuing education and professional retraining, as well as the development of a volunteer movement to support veterans of the Soviet Military District, opening up new prospects for collaboration between the university and the association. Polytechnic University staff shared their comprehensive experience and plans for working with military personnel and residents of new regions. Participants in the dialogue included Natalia Chicherina, Director of the Humanities Institute; Anna Rubtsova, Director of the Higher School of Linguistics and Pedagogy; Tatyana Savekina, Director of the Center for Corporate and Network Continuing Professional Programs; and Tatyana Nam, Director of the SPbPU Dobro.Center.

Georgy Zhuravlev discussed the association's activities, including assistance to veterans of special military operations and their families, patriotic education of children and youth, basic military training, preserving military-historical memory, social adaptation of military personnel after injuries, education, employment, and more.

The Polytechnic University is consistently and systematically building support for participants and veterans of special military operations. Cooperation is developing both large-scale project of SPbPU — from identifying educational needs and building a partner network to designing digital tools and implementing adapted retraining programs. Coordination is carried out by the Directorate of Continuing Education and Industry Partnerships, together with the university's specialized institutes, ensuring the integration of engineering and humanities training with social support mechanisms and creating conditions for veterans' professional and personal fulfillment.

The signing of the agreement was a logical continuation of the active volunteer work that Polytechnic has been conducting for three years with the state foundation "Defenders of the Fatherland" in St. Petersburg as part of the All-Russian campaign

This initiative is fully aligned with the goals of the federal program "Priority 2030" and aims to unlock the potential of veterans for the benefit of Russia's technological leadership.

"We believe the discussion about the various training options for special military operation participants and veterans should be more active and systematic. Bishkek, October 24 (Xinhua) — China's goals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) are in line with the country's actual conditions and will be successfully implemented under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), former Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Alikbek Jekshenkulov told Xinhua.

From October 20th to 23rd, the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee was held in Beijing. Numerous tasks and goals were proposed for the next five years. These included: building a modern production system, strengthening and developing the real sector of the economy, accelerating the achievement of scientific and technological self-sufficiency and independence, accelerating the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, and fostering innovative and creative cultural activity throughout the nation.

According to A. Dzhekshenkulov, based on China's achievements in socio-economic development in recent years, the proposed goals for the 15th Five-Year Plan period "are reformist, progressive, and consistent with China's national conditions."

"These goals not only build on the success of previous five-year plans but also introduce innovations in line with new stages of development, fully reflecting the foresight of the CPC and the Chinese government. We believe that under the leadership of the CPC, these goals will be successfully achieved," he said.

The former head of Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that among the goals set, those most intriguing are those related to strengthening scientific and technological independence and building a strong global power in the areas of economic development, science, and technology.

"In today's competitive international environment, technological innovation is a key driver of national development. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China can become a country with a more prosperous economy, more innovative technologies, a more harmonious society, and a more comfortable environment," stated A. Dzhekshenkulov. He also expressed the view that by the end of this period, China will become a more technologically independent, innovation-driven global economic center with sustainable domestic demand and will exert significant cultural and economic influence on the global community.

"China's development plans and goals not only promote its own development but also make a significant contribution to the development of the global economy, the global community's joint response to challenges, and the building of a community with a shared future for humanity," A. Dzhekshenkulov emphasized, adding that China's successful development provides clear experience for other countries, and the concepts and initiatives put forward by China are valuable for developing countries and global cooperation.

“I believe that for Central Asian countries striving for modernization, China’s successes can become a source of investment and exchange of experience in the areas of technology, manufacturing, and agriculture, and open the way to sustainable development,” he concluded. –0–

Tbilisi, October 24 (Xinhua) — The Belt and Road Initiative is of great importance to Georgia, and the country intends to continue deepening cooperation with China within its framework. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated this in an interview with Xinhua during the 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.

"Historically, Georgia has connected West and East, Europe and Asia. We are making every effort to restore this historical function for Georgia to the greatest possible extent. We are pleased to be continually strengthening our connectivity capabilities through the Belt and Road Initiative, so we can demonstrate our important role. We are also pleased to be expanding our cooperation and trade and economic partnership with China. We attach particular importance to this, and the statistics are very positive, the trend is very positive. We are deeply committed to further strengthening cooperation with China," he said.

According to the head of government, Georgia welcomes all Chinese companies, and investment sectors such as energy, digital technology, and real estate are highly promising. The prime minister noted that the country has created a favorable investment climate, a liberal economic policy, and low tax rates, creating excellent opportunities for Chinese businesses.

I. Kobakhidze recalled that several years ago, Georgia and China signed a free trade agreement, which contributed to the rapid growth of bilateral trade. "We export various goods to China. Of course, participation in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) helps further promote trade with China. We will present a wide range of products and expect that Georgian exports to China will grow in the future," he said.

Speaking about the development of Georgia's transit function, the Prime Minister stated that without China, this process would be more difficult. "China's participation in our infrastructure projects is crucial for us. We are pleased to cooperate on the construction of the Anaklia deep-water port on the Black Sea. We are also pleased that transit traffic between China and Georgia has significantly increased overall, especially over the past two years," emphasized I. Kobakhidze. According to him, Georgia intends to continue its efforts to strengthen transit cooperation with China and is fully open to its further expansion.

The 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum was held on October 22-23 under the motto "Invest in Connectivity – Develop Stability." The forum focused on transport and logistics cooperation between Europe and Asia, the development of the Middle Corridor, investments in digital and energy infrastructure, international trade, innovation, and technology.
