BEIJING, November 9 (Xinhua) — China's producer price index (PPI) decline continued to slow in October 2025.

The PPI, a measure of wholesale producer price changes, fell 2.1 percent year-on-year in October, down from 2.3 percent in September, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported on Sunday. This slowing trend has been observed for three consecutive months.

National Statistical Service statistician Dong Lijuan explained this by regulating the production potential of key industries, intensifying efforts to form a modernized industrial system, and unlocking consumer potential.

In monthly terms, the PPI rose by 0.1 percent in October, marking the first increase since the beginning of 2025.

As Dong Lijuan noted, in October, the improved supply-demand balance led to price increases in some sectors, such as coal mining and beneficiation. Furthermore, the change in global prices affected pricing in some domestic sectors.

Thus, in October, rising global prices for non-ferrous metals led to prices in China's mining and processing industry rising compared to the previous month, while falling global oil prices led to lower prices in the domestic oil and gas sector, the expert said.

China's consumer price index, the main measure of inflation, rose 0.2 percent year-on-year in October, official data showed. -0-

Minsk, November 9 (Xinhua) — Belarus's participation in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) is a direct demonstration of its commitment to increasing exports to China, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Lukashevich said in an interview with BelTA.

According to him, the participation of Belarusian enterprises in Chinese exhibitions is an integral part of the strategy to promote Belarusian exports and strengthen the position of the "Made in Belarus" brand.

"The China International Import Expo in Shanghai remains a key multi-industry exhibition. Belarus regularly presents a national pavilion at the CIIE. In recent years, the Belarusian exhibit has seen significant growth: from traditional food products (dairy, meat, and confectionery), the Belarusian side is shifting to high-tech products, including electronics, automotive components, and IT products," noted S. Lukashevich.

"Belarus' participation in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) is a direct demonstration of our commitment to increasing exports to China," said the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

S. Lukashevich stated that the China-Eurasia Expo in Urumqi is also an important gateway for Belarusian goods to western China and Central Asia. The Guangzhou/Canton Fair attracts Belarusian manufacturers of industrial goods, equipment, and consumer goods. The SIAL exhibition is of great importance for Belarusian agro-industrial enterprises.

"I would like to emphasize that the participation of Belarusian companies in Chinese exhibitions is systematic, large-scale, and qualitatively growing. We are seeing an evolution from the presentation of raw materials to the promotion of high-tech products with added value," noted the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

He also noted that Belarus and China are demonstrating to the world an example of genuine, open and effective cooperation.

"As Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly emphasized, China is our key political and economic partner. We see enormous potential in the Belt and Road Initiative for integrating the Belarusian economy into global supply chains, and the Chinese market, with its nearly 1.5 billion people, is of enormous interest to us," Lukashevich concluded.

Washington, November 9 (Xinhua) — Americans are largely dissatisfied with both political parties, viewing them as too radical and not governing fairly enough, according to a new Pew Research Center poll conducted ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

According to a poll of 3,445 American adults conducted in late September, only 39 percent of respondents believe the Republican Party governs ethically and fairly, while 42 percent say the same about the Democratic Party. A majority of respondents consider both parties too radical: 61 percent of respondents consider Republicans and 57 percent of Democrats to be too radical.

Public disillusionment is widespread: roughly half of Americans say they feel anger at either party, while just over a third feel hopeful about the Republican Party. Only 28 percent of respondents believe the Democratic Party gives them hope.

The deepest discontent is among Democrats and independents on the left, who are disillusioned not only with the Republicans who control the White House and both houses of Congress, but also with their own party.

Sixty-seven percent of Democrats say they are disappointed with their party, significantly higher than in 2021 and 2019, when the figure was about half. Among them, 41 percent cite the party's inability to provide sufficient resistance to the Trump administration as the main reason.

KUALA LUMPUR, November 9 (Xinhua) — At least one person was found dead and six were rescued after a boat carrying about 100 undocumented migrants sank in waters near the Malaysia-Thailand maritime border, local police reported Sunday, citing Malaysia's state news agency Bernama.

Malaysia's Kedah police chief, Adzli Abu Shah, said the boat was part of a larger vessel used by the syndicate to transport more than 300 people.

According to him, about 300 migrants boarded a large vessel about a month ago. As it approached Malaysia's maritime border, the syndicate divided the migrants into three smaller boats to avoid detection by authorities.

According to a police officer, the boat, which had about 100 people on board, capsized three days ago, and the fate of the migrants on the other two boats is unknown.

A search and rescue operation is currently underway involving the Marine Police and the Malaysian Maritime Border Protection Agency. –0–

Beijing, November 9 (Xinhua) — The new snow season is currently beginning in many areas of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR). Ski resorts in Urumqi, Altay County, and the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture have begun making artificial snow, preparing to open to guests.

According to the news portal chinanews.com.cn, at the famous Jiangjunshan International Ski Resort in the Altay County, approximately 100 snow cannons are producing snow 24 hours a day. The resort's deputy general manager, Chen Yang, said, "We plan to launch test skiing around November 15 and will try to open early, depending on weather conditions, to accommodate the needs of the majority of tourists."

However, at some ski resorts in the XUAR, skiers have already been allowed to test their skills in advance.

"Today I got the long-awaited experience of ice and snow skiing in Xinjiang. The snowy landscapes here are beautiful, and the skiing conditions are excellent," said Alexander Ivanov, a young tourist from Russia, who realized his dream on Saturday at the Silk Road Mountain Resort.

"Unlike previous ski seasons, to accommodate the needs of most tourists for early access, this year, for the first time, we opened the slopes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced skiers simultaneously, and also opened the night ski area for the first time on test day. Ski enthusiasts can ski peacefully from morning until evening," said Zhuang Hong, Marketing Manager at Silk Road Mountain Resort.

During the last snow season, standard ski resorts in Xinjiang received more than 3.57 million tourists, up 10.22 percent year-on-year, and generated tourism revenue of 844 million yuan, up 39.13 percent year-on-year.

On November 14, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) will launch a consumer voucher program to stimulate winter tourism during the snowy season, the local Department of Culture and Tourism announced. A total of 10,000 vouchers, each worth 20 yuan (approximately $2.82), will be valid for use at 11 ski resorts in the region with a 4S rating or higher, covering popular winter destinations such as Urumqi, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, and Altay Prefecture. -0-

Kristallnacht: Today the world remembers with sorrow the Nazis' first mass crime

November 9 is the International Day Against Fascism, Racism, and Anti-Semitism. The date was established by the UNITED European network, which unites over 560 organizations from 46 countries, in remembrance of Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass, a mass pogrom against Jews that occurred from November 9 to 10, 1938, in Germany and Austria.

That night marked the Third Reich's first mass act of physical violence against the Jewish population. More than 90 people were killed during the pogrom, approximately 30,000 men, women, elderly, and children were sent to concentration camps, hundreds of synagogues were burned, storefronts were smashed, and thousands of Jewish shops were looted. It was because of the sheer number of shards of glass glittering in the darkness on the streets of German and Austrian cities that this horrific event became known as Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass.

Historians note that the international community's lack of a proper response to this tragedy unleashed the Nazis and contributed to the Holocaust, which claimed the lives of six million Jews. German state fascism flourished, turning such atrocities into a cult, and leading to a global catastrophe—World War II. 1945—the year of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany—marked the world's deliverance from the "brown" plague. But nearly 80 years later, radical movements are once again resurfacing, and our former allies in the fight against the fascists are attempting to rewrite history by encouraging new adherents of the doctrine of the superiority of the "Aryan nation." Therefore, the date November 9th serves a very important function—it serves as a reminder of the need to confront the ideology of hatred.

In our country, promoting Hitler's ideas is impossible according to the moral and ethical principles of every normal person, and is prohibited by law. At the federal level, combating anti-Semitism, xenophobia, and extremism, as well as preserving historical memory, are important areas of work for the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights. As for the State University of Management, an atmosphere of mutual respect between representatives of different countries, cultures, and peoples has been established within our walls since its inception. The principles of combating fascism, nationalism, and xenophobia are of particular importance to the State University of Management—our multinational university community has always been and remains a space where there is no place for the ideology of hatred and where the diversity of the modern world is valued.

The 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) is currently underway in Shanghai. During the event, a china.org.cn correspondent visited the Kazakhstan pavilion in the agricultural and food products zone.

Ainur Sultanalievna Amirbekova, PhD, Managing Director for Export Development at QazTrade under the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted that this year, Kazakhstani goods are presented at four exhibition venues, and the number of participating companies exceeded 100, a record figure for the country's entire history of participation in the Exhibition.

Proudly speaking about Kazakhstan's products, she highlighted key categories: the dairy industry is the country's pride. The exhibition features natural ice cream and dried camel milk—a unique product with valuable properties. Flour and pasta are Kazakhstan's calling card. Healthy eating products—chickpea, flax, and other grain products—reflect the country's commitment to sustainable development. Confectionery products combine taste, quality, and creativity: candies, marmalade, and fruit snacks made from natural ingredients with a national flavor and modern packaging design.

Kristina Kan, Commercial Director of the Kazakhstani company Dynasty Agro, reported that the company, a flaxseed oil producer located in Northern Kazakhstan, is participating in the Import Expo for the first time.

"The exhibition was superbly organized, and the Chinese side demonstrated themselves to be an incredibly hospitable and friendly organizer," the commercial director shared.

"For over 10 years, we've been exporting to countries such as Japan, Poland, Russia, Mongolia, and the United Arab Emirates. We previously supplied products to China through intermediaries, and now we hope to establish direct contacts with our Chinese partners," she said.

The company "Navryz 5" produces 100% natural juices, jams, preserves, pastes, and marinades—more than 50 types of products in total.

Company representative Djurat Urazovich Igambekov told a correspondent that this was the company's first time participating in the Import Expo and that he was very impressed with the show. He expressed hope that the Expo would help the company attract more buyers from China.

"We're looking for a distributor who will purchase our products in large quantities—railcars—and ship them to China for sale. We hope to find partners at the exhibition who can help us with deliveries here," he said.

During the exhibition, the Kazakhstan pavilion attracts a large number of visitors who inquire about specific products, negotiate with representatives of various Kazakhstani companies, and sample delicious food.

Ms. Ji, who tried the buns with butter together with her friend, said that the butter was very tender and very tasty.

Ms. Lu, a visitor to the exhibition who bought ice cream at the Kazakhstan stand, noted that Kazakhstan is a relatively close country to China, and there are similarities between the two countries in eating habits and some aspects of culture.

"Personally, I think their dairy products, pashminas, spices, scarves, and woolen goods are probably quite good. But today I just arrived at the Import Expo, and right at the entrance I saw their ice cream. I decided to start getting to know their products through taste, to see how their ice cream differs from what I've tried before," she shared.

PHANG-NGA, Thailand, November 9 (Xinhua) — A China-Thailand environmental education center has opened in Thailand's Phang-Nga Province.

The center was established within the framework of the China-Thailand Joint Laboratory for Climate and Marine Ecosystem Research, established by the Ministry of Natural Resources of China and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand.

It was funded, designed and built by the First Institute of Oceanography of China (FIO) and the Beijing-based Society of Entrepreneurs and Ecology.

The center's main goal is to increase environmental awareness among local youth and community members and to create a new platform for scientific exchange on mangrove conservation.

“We aim to translate complex scientific concepts into child-friendly language to foster a generation that respects the marine environment while simultaneously providing high-quality education in remote areas of Thailand,” said Tsung Bolin, a researcher at the FIO of China’s Ministry of Natural Resources, calling the opening of the center an important step in the transition from scientific research to mass education and scientific outreach.

Deesaorn Aittiariyasunton, a technical officer at Thailand's Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, called the center's opening "a wonderful start" that sends a powerful message to students: the mangroves on their doorstep are important to the entire world.

She emphasized that the center provides young people with a valuable opportunity to study the mangrove ecosystem and conservation practices. –0–
