KUNMING, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) — Law enforcement agencies from China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam agreed to step up efforts to combat transnational telecommunications and internet fraud at a meeting held in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, on Friday.

Officials from six countries held in-depth discussions on strengthening cross-border cooperation and reached a number of agreements, according to a statement from China's Ministry of Public Security (MPS).

The participants signed the final documents and confirmed their strong commitment to jointly combating transnational telecommunications and internet fraud, the statement said.

The countries will conduct joint operations, establish regular coordination mechanisms, improve intelligence sharing, and continue the extradition and transfer of individuals involved in this type of criminal activity, the statement said.

In recent years, China has expanded cooperation with law enforcement agencies in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, developing effective mechanisms that have yielded significant results. Their joint efforts have dealt a serious blow to criminal groups involved in gambling and fraud.

Since the beginning of this year, China, Myanmar and Thailand have established a trilateral coordination mechanism and jointly carried out an operation in Myanmar's Myawaddy district to neutralize organized crime groups involved in gambling and fraud, resulting in the extradition of more than 5,500 criminal suspects to China, the ISS said.

Chinese and Laotian police conducted a joint operation to target telecom fraud rings in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Laos, arresting more than 600 suspects.

In a special joint operation to combat telecom fraud and online gambling crimes, Chinese and Vietnamese police successfully arrested 149 suspects, while Chinese and Cambodian law enforcement officers detained 2,141 suspects in Cambodia, all of whom were extradited to China.

The PRC's Ministry of Security will continue to deepen international cooperation, promote joint operations, dismantle fraudulent dens, and more vigorously pursue suspects, the agency concluded. -0-

New Delhi, November 15 (Xinhua) — A powerful explosion rocked a police station in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Friday night, local police said.

The incident took place in Srinagar, the summer capital of the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir.

Following the explosion, a fire broke out in the building, and several cars parked on the premises also caught fire. Numerous fire trucks and ambulances arrived at the damaged police station.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined. However, local media are calling it an accident.

Moscow, November 15 (Xinhua) – At least seven people were killed and 15 more injured on Friday in a collision between a passenger bus and a truck in Russia's Perm Krai, TASS reported, citing regional emergency services.

The accident occurred at the 55th kilometer of the R-243 Kostroma-Sharya-Kirov-Perm road. The regional investigative department's press service reported that a minor was among the victims. "The injured are receiving qualified medical care. The exact number is being determined," the department stated.

Minsk, November 15 (Xinhua) — An additional, third unit will be built at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant. This decision was made on Friday following a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich announced.

"Following the meeting, a decision was made to develop the Ostrovets Nuclear Power Plant and implement the second phase—the construction of a third power unit. Concurrently, work will be conducted to survey sites in the Mogilev Region of Belarus. This additional research will focus on where nuclear power could be developed in the future, given rising electricity consumption," BelTA quotes him as saying.

Electricity consumption in Belarus is currently growing. By 2024, the country's electricity consumption was expected to exceed 43 billion kWh. Over the past five years, it has increased by 6 billion kWh.
