BEIJING, November 21 (Xinhua) — China is willing to share its wisdom and experience in river management with the rest of the world, opening up paths and providing models for the healthy development of water resources on the planet, according to an analytical report released Friday.

The report, titled “River Governance for National Prosperity and Public Welfare – A Study on Water Strategy in the New Era,” was jointly released by the National Research Center of the Xinhua News Agency and the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research under the Ministry of Water Resources.

The report estimates that the number of urban populations experiencing water stress on Earth will increase from 930 million in 2016 to 1.7-2.4 billion by 2050. As climate change accelerates, global water security is under increasing pressure, and river management is becoming increasingly challenging.

In recent years, China has accumulated considerable experience in water resources management through large-scale projects, innovative methods and social management, the document says.

China organized online and offline training sessions for nearly 4,000 water resources specialists and government officials from 112 countries. Five overseas technology transfer and capacity-building centers were established in Pakistan, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Serbia, and Senegal.

Furthermore, extensive cooperation was established with UN agencies in the field of water resources; the country shared its scientific research achievements and joined efforts with other countries and regions of the world to address growing water resource challenges.

China is willing to make new contributions to improving global water governance and ensuring the achievement of water-related goals under the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, thereby promoting the world's new vision of harmony between people and water, the report said. -0-

On November 21, 1991, a significant event occurred in the history of science and education in Russia: by decree of then-President Boris Yeltsin, the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) was established.

Its creation was a response to the challenges of the time, when the country needed to update its scientific approach and introduce modern research methods.

The Academy united numerous scientific institutes and laboratories, creating a powerful platform for scientific activity. The Russian Academy of Sciences became a hub for scientists to exchange ideas, conduct joint research, and develop innovative projects.

Today, the Russian Academy of Sciences continues to actively develop, introducing new scientific directions and attracting a younger generation of scientists to scientific activities.

The State University of Management actively collaborates with the Academy and fully supports initiatives aimed at developing science and education. The university houses a Student Design Bureau and several research centers, and conducts ongoing research and development. An Advanced Engineering School has been established jointly with the M.D. Millionshchikov State Petroleum Technological University.

We congratulate all scientists, academics, and students on this significant date and wish them continued success in their scientific endeavors. May the academics' achievements inspire a new generation of researchers to make discoveries and accomplishments for the benefit of society and the country.

This Friday is doubly wonderful than any other, because today marks the birthday of Nikolai Mikhailov, Advisor to the Rector's Office of the State University of Management, Associate Professor, and PhD in Geographical Sciences.

There's probably not a single person on our university floor who doesn't know Nikolai Nikolaevich: his smile encourages applicants, his penetrating gaze inspires a desire to learn, and his ironclad character keeps all the admissions staff and faculty of the Ecology and Nature Management program on their toes.

Nikolai Mikhailov, a true member of the Russian Geographical Society, has traveled throughout the country, from the southern seas to the Arctic Circle, and understands the unique characteristics of different regions like no one else.

On this day, we wish him many more years to maintain his youthful spirit, positive attitude, and cheerfulness, so that he can continue to make our university even better and more effective.

Islamabad, November 21 (Xinhua) — Twelve people were killed and dozens injured on Friday morning in a boiler explosion at a chemical plant in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, police sources told Xinhua.

The explosion occurred around 5:30 a.m. local time in the industrial city of Faisalabad, causing a massive fire that quickly spread through the building, they said.

Firefighters are working to contain the fire to prevent it from spreading to nearby homes, sources said.

The explosion caused the walls and roofs of several neighboring buildings to collapse. Police say most of the dead and injured lived in these buildings.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Some are in critical condition.

A rescue operation is currently underway. There are concerns that the death toll could rise, as many people are likely trapped inside the plant building.

JAKARTA, November 21 (Xinhua) — At least 10 people were killed and 18 others were missing after a landslide hit a residential area in Indonesia's Central Java province, local authorities said on Friday.

According to the country's National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), after several days of heavy rains, a landslide occurred in the village of Pandanarum in the district of the same name, resulting in casualties.

Seven bodies were found on Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths to 10, BNPB spokesman Abdul Mukhari said.

According to him, prolonged rains, the presence of large springs, and existing cracks in the surrounding hills weakened the soil, contributing to the scale of the disaster. Search and rescue operations are continuing in difficult conditions, A. Mukhari added.

Local authorities reported significant damage. Forty-eight homes were destroyed or collapsed, and 195 people were injured. According to the latest BNPB data released Thursday evening, a total of 934 residents were evacuated to temporary shelters.

Beijing, November 21 (Xinhua) — The flagship store of the Russian National Pavilion (RNP) recently opened its doors to visitors on Central Street in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, northeast China. Its opening marks a significant achievement in the deepening cooperation between the Heilongjiang Transport and Investment Group (HLJ TIG) and the Russian Export Center (REC). This store is the only one in Heilongjiang Province officially authorized by the REC.

According to the news website zgjtb.com, this flagship store covers over 500 square meters. Its shelves stock approximately 2,000 high-quality Russian products, grouped into nine main categories, including confectionery, grains and oils, and dairy products. Notably, over 200 items from leading Russian brands are new to the Chinese market, allowing consumers to experience authentic Russian flavors in one place.

Of particular note is that each product is equipped with a unique QR code for traceability. Thanks to HLJ TIG's proprietary platform for tracking Russian food products, consumers can scan the code and fully trace the product's origin and its journey to the store, guaranteeing both the authenticity of the products and the fact that they were delivered directly from the manufacturer.

In addition to the expansive retail area, the store features skillfully organized functional spaces: a cozy lounge and tasting area, and a stage for streaming and performances. A modern automated coffee machine brews authentic Russian coffee for guests, complementing it with delicious desserts and creating a distinctive image for the RNP outlet. This will allow the store to serve not only as a retail outlet but also as an important platform for cultural exchange and bilateral trade, transforming this historic street into a living symbol of economic trust and cultural interpenetration between the two countries.

In the future, HLJ TIG regards the opening of the flagship store of the “Russian National Pavilion” in Harbin as a new starting point for further strengthening trust and continuing joint efforts with the Russian Export Center aimed at creating an important platform for trade between China and Russia and a model project for inter-company cooperation. -0-

Jerusalem, November 21 (Xinhua) — Israel expects Washington to maintain its access to more advanced American weaponry, Israeli government spokesperson Shosh Bedrosian said Thursday, commenting on US plans to supply Saudi Arabia with F-35 fighter jets.

Israel is currently the only Middle Eastern country operating modern stealth aircraft. According to US law, any arms sales in the region must not undermine Israel's "qualitative military advantage" over its neighbors.

"The United States and Israel have a long-standing agreement that Israel maintains a qualitative advantage in the area of defense," Sh. Bedrosyan told reporters.

“It was true yesterday, it is true today, and the Prime Minister [Benjamin Netanyahu] believes it will be so tomorrow and in the future,” she added.

This statement marked the first official comment from the Israeli government regarding the planned delivery of up to 48 F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia. The deal was announced on Monday by US President Donald Trump during a meeting at the White House with the kingdom's Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. This decision marked a change in the US administration's policy after years of hesitation.

Israel and Saudi Arabia have not established formal diplomatic relations. During his visit to Washington, the Saudi Crown Prince stated that his kingdom desires to normalize relations with Israel but wants to ensure a "clear path to a two-state solution," which includes the creation of a Palestinian state.

B. Netanyahu and his far-right government are staunchly opposed to the creation of a Palestinian state. –0–
