With the support of Rosneft, a scientific expedition to study wild reindeer in Western Taimyr, which was conducted as part of the corporate environmental program "Tamura", has been completed. Scientists from the Siberian Federal University (SFU) traveled about 2.5 thousand km by boat along the Pyasina River, just over 1.5 thousand km as part of a radial route along the Dudypta, Tareya and Pura rivers, and over 700 km along the Khatanga and Kheta rivers.

The main goal of this year's wild reindeer research is to count the numbers and assess the distribution of animals in Western Taimyr using instrumental and ground-based observation methods. Annual monitoring of bioindicator animals allows us to obtain a comprehensive picture of the impact of climate change on the state of Arctic ecosystems.

During boat and stationary observations, photo and video recordings of deer were made. The data obtained will be processed at the stage of office work using special computer programs. To determine migration routes, specialists installed GPS transmitters on several deer. Also, following the expedition, scientists noted the appearance of large, predominantly male herds on the right bank of the Pyasina.

Rosneft has been studying wild reindeer since 2014. During this time, large-scale ground and aerial surveys of animals have been conducted in Evenkia and Taimyr. Using satellite tags installed on the reindeer, scientists have tracked the entire annual cycle of their migration and identified seasonal behavior patterns.

Rosneft pays special attention to environmental issues and biodiversity conservation and is implementing the largest comprehensive Arctic region study program since Soviet times. As part of the Tamura program, which began in 2024, scientists plan to update information on the state of key animal species in the northern region.

"Tamura" involves studying the Kara subpopulation of polar bears, wild reindeer populations in western Taimyr, and valuable bird and fish species in the Yenisei estuary. The data obtained will allow scientists to draw conclusions about the state of ecosystems and develop measures to preserve the region's biodiversity. The program will last until 2027. In 2025, scientists have already conducted three expeditions to study the Kara subpopulation of polar bears, and ten expeditions will be conducted in just four years.

With the support of Rosneft, 4 enclosures for polar bears with a total area of about 2.5 thousand square meters were equipped in the new complex of the Perm Zoo. Arctic predators named Seriku, Mila and Parma were transported from the old territory of the zoo to the modern enclosures.

Since 2013, Rosneft has been caring for all polar bears in Russian zoos – today there are 35 polar bears in 16 zoos in the country. The Company provides for the maintenance of the animals, their feeding, veterinary support, and also finances the renovation of the enclosures. With the support of the Company, special toys have been developed to increase the physical activity of the animals. In addition, Rosneft is implementing a program to rescue and rehabilitate young polar bears left in the wild without a mother. Since 2016, with the active support of the Company, six orphaned polar bear cubs have been rescued in the Russian sector of the Arctic.

The enclosures at the Perm Zoo for bears are equipped with air conditioners and pools in which polar bears can swim all year round. In addition, there is provision for heating water in winter and cooling it in summer, as well as generators for producing snow in the warm season.

The new territory of the zoo was opened on August 7 and is a modern complex that meets international standards for keeping wild animals. The total area of the natural landscape park is 25 hectares, which is 16 times larger than the area of the old zoo.

The male Seriku was rescued on Bely Island in Yamal, and the female bear Mila was born in the Kazan Zoo and then came to the Perm Zoo. At the end of 2024, Mila and Seriku had their first offspring – a female that Perm residents named Parma.

With the support of Rosneft, the multifunctional complex Gubkinsky Arena was opened in Gubkinsky. The project was implemented within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement between Rosneft and the Government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. In addition, the complex provides comfortable conditions for people with limited mobility – special lifts and seats in the stands, necessary equipment and sports equipment.

Reliable operation of the building's engineering systems is ensured by modern solutions, including a transformer substation, compressor equipment for ice preparation and ventilation units for maintaining the microclimate.

The new Ice Palace will become a center of attraction for the residents of Gubkinsky and will give an additional impetus to the development of the city's sports life. Support for mass, children's and youth sports is one of the significant areas of social work of Rosneft and its subsidiaries.

The company opens registration for the Geonavigation League 2025 – a championship in virtual drilling of horizontal wells in complex geological conditions. Traditionally, the competition will be held as part of the Rosneft IT Marathon, which is organized by the Moscow and Ufa corporate research institutes. With the support of the RN-Nyaganneftegaz Company (part of Rosneft), work has begun on the construction of a modern water treatment complex in the city of Nyagan. The project is being implemented within the framework of a cooperation agreement between Rosneft and the government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra.

The construction of the water treatment complex will increase the capacity of Nyagan's water treatment facilities threefold, to 30 thousand m³ of water per day. In Yugra, the main sources of urban water supply are underground waters. At the same time, due to the peculiarities of geology, marshy and peaty soils, there is an increased concentration of manganese and iron in underground waters. Therefore, the project provides for equipping the new complex with a system that allows removing manganese ions from natural water. This will provide more than 60 thousand residents of Nyagan with high-quality drinking water that meets modern sanitary standards.

During the construction, a filtration shop, a pumping station and clean water reservoirs will be built. In addition, an intermediate pumping station will be built on the site of the city's only Hugotsky water intake.

Rosneft and the Ministry of Economic Development, Investment, Tourism and Foreign Relations of the Orenburg Region presented a new route, Steppe Stories. The presentation of the tourist auto route took place in the city of Buzuluk at the Bashneft gas station (part of Rosneft). The guests of the event also took part in an educational quiz with a drawing of useful travel prizes.

The tourism project is the result of joint work of the Company and regional authorities aimed at developing domestic tourism and infrastructure. The new route has already been presented on Rosneft’s special information and service platform – “Horizons of Russia: Come with us!" Thanks to the unique navigation functionality, all interesting locations become stops on the route, which the car tourist can independently collect and change at any time during the trip, based on personal interests and taking into account the location of the services necessary for car tourists.

The 250 km route runs from the city of Buzuluk to Aksakovo through the picturesque steppe landscapes of Western Orenburg. Travelers following from Buzuluk to the north of the region will be able to visit the Buzuluksky Bor National Park, the largest relict forest in the steppe Eurasia, about 10 thousand years old. Here you can find giant pines with a circumference of more than 4 meters. One of the oldest trees in Russia, the Queen Pine, also grows in the park; its age exceeds 300 years.

The next attraction on the way is the cave hermitage of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery in Buzuluk. The great Russian writer Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy visited the elder who lived in these caves. The monastery had an important spiritual significance for the residents of the Orenburg and Samara provinces. Specialists at Samotlorneftegaz, one of Rosneft's key production assets, have developed a system to protect electric centrifugal pumps from mechanical impurities. The new technology can significantly increase the reliability and efficiency of the equipment. As a result of installing innovative filters in the design, the equipment's failure rate has increased by 2.3 times to 206 days. The economic effect of the innovation in the next five years may amount to about 850 million rubles.

Mechanical impurities contained in formation fluid are one of the main reasons for the failure of electric centrifugal pumps. Small-sized pumps, due to the specific design, especially need protection from sand and proppant. After successful pilot tests at the Samotlor field, two of the most effective Russian-made filters were identified. The gravity-slot filter combines two cleaning methods at once – mechanical filtration and separation of impurities using centrifugal forces. The efficiency of the volume-wire filter is ensured by the unique properties of the filter material. The equipment allows for the screening of mechanical impurities up to 100 micrometers in size and has a throughput capacity of up to 200 cubic meters of liquid per day.

The use of filters to improve the reliability of small-sized pumps has great potential. The production fund of Samotlorneftegaz includes more than 300 non-standard diameter wells with significant removal of mechanical impurities.

The Company is actively developing the volunteer movement "Good Deeds Platform". In 2024, Rosneft enterprises held almost 2 thousand volunteer events and projects, in which 106 thousand employees took part. Corporate volunteering is important in solving urgent social and environmental problems in the regions where Rosneft operates.

The RN-Yuganskneftegaz company (part of the Rosneft structure) continues to work on preserving the bioresources of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra. In July 2025, more than 2.2 million peled fry and 707 thousand muksun, as well as fry of endangered fish species – more than 1.24 million nelma and 358 thousand Siberian sturgeon – were released into the reservoirs of the Ob-Irtysh basin.
