Since 2019, more than 5,000 public and courtyard areas have been improved in the Southern Federal District (SFD). "The Southern Federal District plays a vital role in Russia's economic, cultural, and tourism life. Our goal is to make it as comfortable as possible for both local residents and tourists. Since the beginning of 2019, 4,500 public spaces and over 500 courtyards have been improved. This work is currently ongoing as part of the national project 'Infrastructure for Life.' According to the Presidential Decree on the country's national development goals, by 2030, Russia must improve at least 30,000 public spaces and implement 1,600 winning projects in the All-Russian Competition for the Best Projects to Create a Comfortable Urban Environment. It's important that new parks and embankments become focal points for residents and visitors, setting new standards for urban development in the region and throughout the country," noted Marat Khusnullin.

For example, in the Republic of Adygea, in Adygeysk, a recreation park with quiet leisure and active play areas is being built in stages on Lenin Avenue. The design was developed with input from residents. In Maykop, the "Mezdakh" forest park project is being implemented on the slope of a ridge. In 2024, an entrance area with an observation deck, children's areas, and sports areas were completed. The second phase, covering an area of 8 hectares, included pedestrian and bicycle trails, hardscape elements, swings, and sports equipment, including tennis tables and chess tables.

Large-scale changes have also affected the Volgograd Region. In Volgograd's Dzerzhinsky District, the second phase of the Heroes-Pilots Park has been completed. A multifunctional area has been created there, featuring a children's playground, basketball and workout courts, and a pump track. In Frolovo, after winning a competition, Zheleznodorozhny Park has been transformed into a sports and recreation cluster. The concept for the nearly 4-hectare linear park combines a skate park, an amphitheater, a lecture hall, and terrain paths with exercise equipment.

We see a growing public involvement in the voting process for improvement projects every year, including in the Southern Federal District. For example, the radical transformation of the Heroic Pilots Park in Volgograd was made possible thanks to the active participation of residents: over 24,000 people supported the project in the nationwide online vote. The All-Russian Competition for the Best Projects for Creating a Comfortable Urban Environment, which has already completed 63 winning projects in the Southern Federal District, also makes a significant contribution to the creation of modern, functional, and sought-after improvement projects in the region. In 2026, taking into account projects started in 2025, another 1,147 public spaces and 24 winning projects are planned for completion, demonstrating a well-thought-out and systematic approach to urban infrastructure development," said Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Irek Fayzullin.

On March 2, Mentor Day, applications were accepted for the third All-Russian "Mentoring" competition—one of the key projects identifying and supporting best mentoring practices in the country.

The All-Russian "Mentoring" competition is being held as part of the implementation of the Concept for the Development of Mentoring in the Russian Federation through 2030, approved by the Government. The competition is operated by the Institute for the Development of Professional Education, with the support of the Ministry of Education and the partnership of leading ministries, public organizations, and volunteer organizations.

"This year, we are celebrating Mentor Day for the first time, established by decree of President Vladimir Putin. It's symbolic that this holiday marks the launch of the all-Russian 'Mentoring' competition. Over the past two years, more than 20,000 people have participated, 100 mentoring practices have been selected, and over 200 authors have received additional recognition for their best work. I congratulate all mentors on this occasion! Thank you for fulfilling your noble mission, and I wish you good health and compassionate mentors!" said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The competition's main goal is to create a nationwide database of best mentoring practices, which serve as an effective tool for training and supporting personnel in the real economy, education, and youth policy.

"The 'Mentoring' competition grows larger and more comprehensive each year. Today, it encompasses manufacturing, education, social services, and government and municipal service—in all of these fields, the experience of seniors is crucial for professional development. This year, we're introducing a new category: 'Mentoring in Business and Entrepreneurship.' This is an important step: we'll bring together best practices for sharing business experience that help aspiring entrepreneurs launch and grow their businesses. We invite everyone who's willing to share their knowledge and lead the way to apply," noted Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.

Applications for the All-Russian Mentoring Competition are accepted in five categories:

— "Mentoring in production"

— "Mentoring in Education"

— “Mentoring in the social sphere and public activities”,

— "Mentoring in the public and municipal service"

— “Mentoring in business and entrepreneurship.”

Winners from various years actively participate in educational events at the national, regional, and municipal levels as lecturers, speakers, and moderators of discussions, conferences, master classes, and webinars.

The competition results will be announced in July 2026 at the All-Russian seminar-conference "Mentoring: Traditions, Experience, Cooperation" at the Federal Technopark for Professional Education in Kaluga.
