Almaty, March 11 (Xinhua) — Kazakhstan's major Tengiz oil field has restored oil production after the January incidents, the Kazinform news agency reported on Wednesday, citing Kazakh Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov.

According to the minister, production at the field is currently running at a rate of 120,000 tons per day.

E. Akkenzhenov noted that due to the attacks on industrial infrastructure, total production of oil, gas condensate, and a mixture of light hydrocarbons in Kazakhstan in 2026 may be lower than planned—96-98 million tons instead of 100.5 million tons.

It was previously reported that two transformers caught fire at Tengiz on January 18. The fire was extinguished, and there were no injuries. On January 19, Kazakhstan's oil company Tengizchevroil suspended oil production at the Tengiz and Korolevskoye fields due to problems in the power distribution system. On January 26, the operator resumed production at Korolevskoye.

Bishkek, March 11 (Xinhua) — An exhibition of Chinese paintings titled "Free Flight of a Horse – The Spirit of Chinese Ink Painting" opened at the National History Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, Marat Tagaev, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, noted that the exhibition is a significant cultural event that contributes to strengthening humanitarian ties and mutual understanding between the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and China. "I am confident that this exhibition will become an important platform for cultural dialogue, allow a wider audience to become more familiar with the traditions of Chinese fine art, and contribute to the further development of cultural cooperation between our countries," he added.

In an interview with Xinhua, Chinese artist Xu Han said that 2026 is the Year of the Horse according to the Chinese lunar calendar. This animal holds significant symbolic significance in the cultures of both countries, the artist noted. The exhibition features approximately 50 works by renowned Chinese ink wash painters. The event not only introduces local audiences to the profound poetry of Chinese painting but also demonstrates the friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

Nuska Kubanycheva, a third-year student at the M. Ryskulbekov Kyrgyz University of Economics and an enthusiast of Chinese culture, was among those attending the event. She thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition. "I looked at the paintings and saw that all the horses were different. That impressed me," she shared.

Tehran, March 11 (Xinhua) — Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is "safe and sound," Yousef Pezeshkian, son of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, announced on Telegram on Wednesday.

According to him, the source of the information was some friends “with connections.”

Earlier, the media reported that M. Khamenei was wounded as a result of American-Israeli strikes on Iran.

"I heard the news that Mr. Mojtaba was wounded. I asked some well-connected friends. They said, 'Thank God, he's healthy and there are no problems,'" wrote Yuri Pezeshkian.

BEIJING, March 11 (Xinhua) — China on Wednesday unveiled its self-developed and manufactured T1200 grade ultra-high-strength carbon fiber, which is expected to find applications in aerospace, low-altitude economics and humanoid robotics.

The innovation is a real industrial product, suitable for mass production at the level of 100 tons per year, which will make China the first country in the world to have a 100-ton mass production capacity of this brand of ultra-strong carbon fiber, said its developer, China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. /CNBM/.

According to the report, the diameter of the new carbon fiber is less than one-tenth that of a human hair, but its tensile strength is 10 times higher than that of ordinary steel, and its density is only a quarter of that of steel. -0-

BEIJING, March 11 (Xinhua) — Military applications of artificial intelligence (AI) must be dominated by humans to avoid losing control of the technology, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin said on Wednesday.

Jiang Bin made the statement in response to journalists' requests to comment on reports that the US Department of Defense had required American tech companies to allow the military unrestricted use of AI technologies, and that the US military had widely used AI tools in military operations against Venezuela and Iran.

Unrestricted military use of AI, the use of AI as a tool to infringe on the sovereignty of other countries, allowing AI to exert excessive influence on decision-making in wartime, and empowering algorithms to decide life and death matters not only undermine the ethical constraints and responsibilities associated with war, but also create the risk of technology becoming uncontrollable, Jiang Bin said.

He expressed protest against the use of its advantages in AI and other new technologies to achieve absolute military superiority or to undermine the sovereignty and territorial security of other countries.

China is ready to work with other countries to advance the multilateral AI governance process, with the UN at its core, and strengthen risk prevention and control measures to ensure that AI always develops in a direction that contributes to the progress of human civilization, he concluded. -0-
