Washington, March 11 (Xinhua) — An ongoing military investigation has preliminarily determined that the strike by a U.S. Tomahawk missile on an Iranian elementary school, which killed more than 160 people, mostly students, was the result of a targeting error, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.

Officials familiar with the investigation told the publication that officers at U.S. Central Command based the strike coordinates on outdated intelligence provided by the Defense Intelligence Agency, which led to the targeting error.

Khartoum, March 11 (Xinhua) — At least 69 people were killed this week in drone strikes on a truck carrying people, a school, and a medical center in two Sudanese states, medical sources and volunteers said on Wednesday.

In the first incident, a drone struck a civilian truck carrying people in the city of Abu Zabad in West Kordofan State in southern Sudan on Tuesday, killing 52 people. Eyewitnesses reported that the truck was carrying approximately 90 passengers. The dead included mostly women, along with several men and children.

The survivors were taken to Abu Zabad's only functioning hospital and nearby facilities, where medical staff treated the wounded amid overcrowding and shortages of medicine.
