St. Petersburg, March 13 /Xinhua/ — A Russian-Chinese business forum was held in St. Petersburg on Friday under the motto "St. Petersburg – China's Regions: From Dialogue to Real Projects." The forum focused on cooperation between the two countries in economics, trade, tourism, and education.

Furthermore, humanitarian exchanges are actively developing. Chinese is taught in 32 schools in the city, and over 5,000 students are studying it. Beijing, March 13 (Xinhua) — China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Friday the imposition of anti-dumping duties on imported halogenated butyl rubber originating from Japan and Canada. A final investigation has established evidence of dumping, which has caused significant damage to the domestic industry.

As noted in the agency's statement, the anti-dumping measures will come into force on March 14 and will remain in effect for five years.

According to the statement, the anti-dumping duty rate for the Japanese company Japan Butyl Co., Ltd. will be 15 percent, and for other Japanese companies, 30.1 percent. ARLANXEO Canada Inc. and other Canadian companies will pay a duty of 13.8 percent.

China launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of halogenated butyl rubber originating from Japan, Canada and India in September 2024.

A preliminary ruling announced in August 2025 found that halogenated butyl rubber imports from Japan and Canada were dumped, causing material harm to the Chinese halogenated butyl rubber industry. A causal link between the dumping and the damage was established. The investigation into the imports from India was closed.

Halogenated butyl rubber is mainly used in products such as tubeless tire sealing layers, heat-resistant tire inner tubes, heat-resistant hoses and conveyor belts, medicine bottle caps, anti-vibration pads, adhesives and sealing materials. –0–

Dar es Salaam, March 13 (Xinhua) — Six health workers from Kigoma County Council in western Tanzania were killed and three others are missing after their boat capsized on Lake Tanganyika during strong winds, local authorities said on Friday.

The incident occurred on Friday at around 8:00 a.m. local time in Kalalangabo area of Kigoma-Ujiji County.

The dead were among 18 health workers who were travelling on a council-owned boat to the village of Kagunga to carry out vaccinations, officials said.

Kigoma Regional Fire and Rescue Service Commander Michael Maganga confirmed the incident, adding that nine people were rescued and are currently undergoing treatment at the Kigoma County Hospital.

Bishkek, March 13 (Xinhua) — Kyrgyzstan is seeing a downward trend in the annual number of births, the Kyrgyz national news agency Kabar reported on Friday, citing Nurgul Ibraeva, head of the Ministry of Health's Department for Medical Care and Pharmaceutical Policy.

At a meeting in the Zhogorku Kenesh (parliament), N. Ibraeva noted that 137,980 births will be registered in Kyrgyzstan in 2025, which is approximately 2,000 fewer than in 2024.

At the same time, as she pointed out, previously the annual number of births in Kyrgyzstan was about 150 thousand, but now this figure has decreased by 20-30 thousand.
