BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) — China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) should deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and pursue common development, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Monday in a telephone conversation with his ROK counterpart Cho Hyun, which was initiated by the ROK.

As Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, noted, China and the ROK are important neighbors and cooperation partners, and commitment to good-neighborliness and friendship meets the common interests of the peoples of the two countries.

The Chinese diplomat noted that after the members of the new government of the Republic of Kazakhstan took office, the heads of the two states held a telephone conversation, bringing new positive dynamics to bilateral relations and outlining a course for further joint work.

Wang Yi stressed that China and the ROK should be strategic cooperation partners in the true sense of the word and advance their bilateral relations to a higher level. To achieve this goal, both sides should first of all maintain policy stability, the Chinese Foreign Minister stressed, adding that the PRC has always attached great importance to the development of bilateral cooperation and has been pursuing a consistent and stable policy towards the ROK.

He expressed hope that the ROK will ensure that its policy towards China is as stable, sustainable, predictable and not subject to fluctuations.

According to Wang Yi, both countries should also uphold independence and autonomy. The relationship between China and the ROK is based on common interests and benefits the peoples of the two countries, and is not aimed at any third party and should not be restrained by any third party, the Chinese diplomat stressed.

As Wang Yi pointed out, China and ROK should enhance mutual benefits as they enjoy close economic relations and deeply integrated industrial and supply chains.

As beneficiaries of multilateralism and free trade, China and South Korea should jointly resist “decoupling and decoupling” and jointly protect the stability and smooth functioning of global production and distribution chains, the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry noted.

He added that China supports the ROK in holding an informal meeting of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders in the second half of this year.

Cho Hyun, for his part, said that the ROK attaches great importance to relations with China and looks forward to closer high-level exchanges to further advance the bilateral strategic cooperation partnership in the future.

Noting that the ROK and China have established close trade and economic ties and formed an excellent model of cooperation, Cho Hyun noted that the ROK intends to actively promote bilateral free trade negotiations and deepen trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

According to Cho Hyun, the ROK hopes to strengthen contacts and coordination with China, correctly assess the historical past, and jointly maintain peace and stability in the region.

The parties also exchanged views on issues of coordination and cooperation in multilateral areas. –0–

SHENZHEN, July 28 (Xinhua) — A 6S robot store opened in Longgang District of Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, on Monday, the first such store in the world, local authorities said.

A total of 26 robot manufacturing companies, including Unitree Robotics, signed partnership agreements with the retail outlet on the same day.

Currently, more than 200 companies from upstream and downstream of the production chain have expressed interest in working with the store, including about 50 companies that manufacture humanoid and service robots. The companies cover the entire production chain – from research and development of key components to final assembly of finished robots, from software algorithms to specific application scenarios.

According to the management company of Shenzhen Future Times Robotics Co., Ltd., the 6S robot shop, based on the traditional 4S (sales, parts, service, feedback) model of an automobile shop, offers two additional services: rental and custom-made.

The company emphasized that the store is reconsidering service standards and the model for connecting supply and demand in the robotics industry, forming an effective bridge for transferring robots from laboratories to the market and transforming technical concepts into real practical solutions. –0–

BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) — China urges Japan not to send wrong signals to separatist forces advocating "Taiwan independence," Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said Monday.

The diplomat made the statement at a regular press briefing, commenting on a report that the head of Taiwan's so-called Foreign Affairs Department, Lin Jialong, recently made a "private" trip to Japan and met with Japanese politicians.

The Chinese side expresses strong dissatisfaction and resolutely opposes Japan's connivance in allowing Lin Jialong to make a so-called "private" visit to the country, the official said. "We have made stern representations to the Japanese side in Beijing and Tokyo and expressed our firm protest," Guo Jiakun added.

Recalling that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, he stressed that the Taiwan question lies at the center of China's fundamental interests, affects the political basis of Sino-Japanese relations and the fundamental trust between the two countries.

Guo Jiakun pointed out that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's liberation from Japanese occupation. According to him, Japan bears grave historical responsibility to the Chinese people for its colonial rule over Taiwan that lasted for half a century.

China calls on the Japanese side to strictly adhere to the spirit of the four China-Japan political documents and the solemn commitments they made, deeply reflect on history and draw lessons, and be cautious in its remarks and actions on the Taiwan issue, the spokesperson said.

The Japanese side should never undermine China's sovereignty in any form, send wrong signals to separatist forces advocating "Taiwan independence," or underestimate the firm determination, unwavering will and mighty strength of the Chinese people in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, Guo Jiakun concluded. –0–

The first half of 2025 saw a significant increase in the number of TIR vehicle shipments from the China-SCO Demonstration Area

BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) — The number of TIR (Transport International Road) truck shipments from the China-SCO Regional Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Zone (hereinafter referred to as the "China-SCO Demonstration Zone") in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, jumped 188.9 percent year on year to 208 in the first half of 2025, local media reported, citing data from Qingdao Customs released Monday.

TIR is an international system that simplifies the transportation of goods between countries. Within its framework, the goods are sealed at the starting point of the route and checked only upon arrival at the destination, and at intermediate border crossings, checkpoint officers only check the TIR carnet data and the customs stamp for the vehicle. This reduces the travel time and reduces possible risks associated with administrative customs control procedures and damage to the goods. China joined the TIR Convention in July 2016.

Recently, trucks loaded with medical equipment and other goods left the China-SCO Demonstration Zone for Moscow under the TIR system. They are expected to arrive in the Russian capital in 8 days.

Currently, on average, at least one vehicle under the TIR system departs from the designated area to Russia or Central Asia every day.

According to the China-SCO Demonstration Zone Management Committee, by improving the efficiency and quality of service of existing cargo transportation routes, the zone administration plans to open 1-2 regular international automobile routes within the TIR system to SCO countries.

In addition, in order to further promote the development of TIR operations, Jiaozhou Customs under Qingdao Customs has continuously improved the facilitation level of cross-border trade and set up a special post to serve TIR operations, providing 24-hour reservation for customs clearance services.

In September 2023, the China-SCO Demonstration Zone launched international freight transportation under the TIR system for the first time. Since then, 4 road freight routes have been launched, including China-Russia, China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan, and China-Kazakhstan.

At present, the total number of TIR shipments by trucks from the China-SCO Demonstration Zone has reached 500 units, with 40 types of goods transported, with a total value of over 341 million yuan. -0-
