Tashkent, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) — Exports of construction materials from Uzbekistan in the first half of this year exceeded $428 million, the National News Agency of Uzbekistan (UzA) reported on Friday, citing data from the Uzpromstroymaterialy Association.

Tashkent, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) — Uzbekistan plans to build a new international airport in Tashkent region, the press service of the head of state reported on Friday.

“President /of Uzbekistan/ Shavkat Mirziyoyev was informed about the implementation of major projects in the transport sector,” the statement said. “With the development of the economy and the acceleration of the pace of life, the need for transport communications is also growing. BEIJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) — China's National Meteorological Center on Saturday issued a yellow alert for heavy rain and a yellow warning for heat in some parts of the country.

According to the NMC, heavy rains are expected to hit parts of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Heilongjiang Province, Jilin Province, Liaoning Province, Hebei Province, Beijing City and other cities from 8:00 a.m. Saturday to 8:00 a.m. Sunday.

In particular, in some places in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Heilongjiang Province, Jiangsu Province and elsewhere, up to 150 mm of precipitation will fall, and in some places in the above-mentioned areas, heavy rains with a maximum precipitation amount of more than 70 mm per hour may occur.

HANOI, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) — Eight people have been killed and three others are missing in flash floods and landslides that have hit northern Vietnam's Dien Bien Province in recent days, the Vietnam News Agency reported Saturday.

UNITED NATIONS, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) — The United Nations, through its three main organs and their subsidiary bodies, has issued more than 40,000 mandates since 1946, but 85 percent of the mandates in force do not contain provisions for review or termination, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Friday.

Addressing UN Member States with the report “Review of Mandate Implementation – UN80 Initiative: Workflow 2”, A. Guterres identified a number of problems in their implementation: cumbersome processes, duplication, overlapping structures and a growing gap between mandates and resources.

GUANGZHOU, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) — The future of urban mobility is ahead of schedule in the southern Chinese metropolis of Guangzhou.

Upon arrival at Baiyun International Airport, a simple online booking is enough to have a driverless taxi arrive at the airport. Within the city, autonomous minibuses take passengers to attractions such as the Canton Tower, while low-altitude flight routes allow the “air buses” to be used in everyday life.

JERUSALEM/AMMAN, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) — Jordan, Egypt, Germany, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), France and Spain on Friday carried out a joint airdrop operation to airdrop humanitarian aid for residents of the Gaza Strip.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that for the first time, 126 packages of humanitarian aid were airlifted to Gaza with the participation of Germany, Spain and France.
