Beijing, March 16 (Xinhua) — China congratulated Kazakhstan on the successful holding of a referendum on the draft of a new constitution, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday.

Dubai, March 16 (Xinhua) — The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCA) said flights at Dubai International Airport have gradually resumed to selected destinations following a temporary suspension on Monday.

Precautionary measures were put in place to ensure the safety of passengers and staff after a drone crashed near the airport this morning, causing a fire.

The fire has been brought under control and there are no casualties, Dubai's press service said.

The city's civil defense department reported that the fire was caused by a drone colliding with a fuel tank near the airport.

BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhua) — The pace of decline in commercial housing prices in 70 large and medium-sized cities in China generally slowed in February 2026 compared with January 2026, official data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Monday.

Last month, new commercial housing prices in four leading cities—Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen—were flat month-on-month. In January, they fell by 0.3 percent month-on-month.

In February, prices for existing housing in the four aforementioned first-tier cities fell by 0.1 percent compared to the previous month, and the rate of decline in this indicator slowed by 0.4 percentage points compared to January of this year.

SHANGHAI, March 16 (Xinhua) — During the 40-day Chunyun period of 2026, the special transport regime for the Spring Festival, a total of 356 China-Europe/Central Asia international freight trains departed from the Yangtze River Delta region in eastern China, carrying 38,000 TEU containers, according to the Shanghai branch of China Railways.

According to the above-mentioned department, there are currently 15 routes operating in this region within the framework of international railway freight transportation China-Europe/Central Asia, which cover 36 Eurasian countries.

China-Europe/Central Asia trains from the Yangtze Delta region arrive in Astana in at least nine days, and in Hamburg, Germany, in at least 15 days. The transit time for these trains is approximately one-third that of sea transport, and the cost is approximately one-fifth that of air transport.

TAIYUAN, March 16 (Xinhua) — Daily gas output from China's largest coalbed methane field, Daning-Jixian, in north China's Shanxi Province, reached a record high of 11 million cubic meters, the field's operator, PetroChina Coalbed Methane Co., Ltd., said on Sunday.

The field, located on the eastern edge of the Ordos Basin, is a government-owned demonstration project for coalbed methane production that has been operational since 2019. Its proven reserves amount to 400 billion cubic meters.

By the end of 2025, the Daning-Jixian field had produced a total of 3.05 billion cubic meters of coalbed methane, making it China's largest field of this unconventional natural gas.

Construction of the project's second phase is currently underway. This is expected to increase production capacity by 1.5 billion cubic meters per year.
