Moscow, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners on Thursday. Russia returned 84 servicemen from Ukrainian territory, and the same number of soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were transferred in exchange, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

"On August 14, 84 Russian servicemen were returned from the territory controlled by the Kyiv regime. In exchange, 84 prisoners of war of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were transferred. St. Petersburg, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — The launching ceremony of the Project 22350 frigate Admiral Amelko was held on Thursday at the Severnaya Verf shipyard in St. Petersburg, Russia.

This vessel is the fifth ship of Project 22350 and is intended for the Russian Pacific Fleet. According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, the frigate is capable of solving the entire range of tasks inherent to a multi-purpose ship, both in the near and far sea zone.

Currently, Russia has three Project 22350 frigates in service; they were transferred to the Russian Northern Fleet.

The ships of this project have a displacement of about 5 thousand tons with a length of 135 m and a width of 16 m, they are designed for operations in the near and far sea and ocean zones. BEIJING, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — Express delivery companies in China handled a total of 112.05 billion parcels in the first seven months of 2025, up 18.7 percent year on year, official data showed Thursday.

According to data from the State Postal Administration (SPA) of China, the total volume of delivered items in the country reached 122.3 billion units during this period, an increase of 16.2 percent year-on-year.

The domestic postal industry's total operating income for the period was nearly 1.02 trillion yuan (about 142.98 billion U.S. dollars), up 8.3 percent year-on-year. Of this, the express delivery sector's revenue increased 9.9 percent to 839.42 billion yuan.

WINDHOEK, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — The Namibian government has expressed deep concern and condemned the recent decision by Israel's security cabinet to take control of Gaza City, warning that it will worsen the already dire humanitarian crisis in the region.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Namibia's Ministry of International Relations and Trade expressed its disapproval of the plan, saying it could worsen a situation characterised by widespread hunger, poverty and forced starvation.

The department's executive director, Penda Naanda, said the ministry welcomed the condemnation of the plan by concerned members of the international community.

“Guided by the principles enshrined in our Constitution, Namibia continues to advocate for the peaceful resolution of international disputes and is firmly committed to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting and protecting the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people,” he added.

Namibia calls on all UN Member States to fulfil their international obligations and not stand by while a humanitarian catastrophe of potentially colossal proportions unfolds, he said. –0–

Vladivostok, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — Three people were killed and two were injured after falling from a height at the Thermal Power Plant No. 2 in Vladivostok, TASS reported on Tuesday, citing the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Primorsky Krai.

The incident occurred on the same day on the territory of Vladivostok TPP-2 during repair work, when employees of the contractor organization fell down at a height. According to preliminary information, three men died, two are receiving medical assistance.
