BEIJING, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) — An event under the theme of "Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Tianjin: Magnificent Intangible Cultural Heritage" was held at the Tianjin Museum recently. The event was organized for teenagers from different countries as part of a cultural tour of Tianjin, north China, and aimed at immersing many Chinese and foreign teenagers in Tianjin culture.
According to the Tianjin City Government website, the event, aimed at “deeply involving representatives of foreign countries in the life of Tianjin,” specially brought together foreign teenagers living in China, as well as local children and young people from Tianjin, to visit the Tianjin Museum together and go on an exciting journey to learn about the history and culture of the metropolis.
During the event, teenagers from China and other countries jointly visited the themed exhibition “A Century of China: A View from Tianjin,” during which they delved into the history of the city’s development and its rich cultural heritage from the late 19th century to the early 20th century.
The participants then moved to the cultural and leisure activities room, where a series of master classes on intangible cultural heritage began. There, the staff explained in detail the technique of creating cloisonné enamel and painting – representative projects of intangible cultural heritage. After an interesting lecture, the teenagers, under the guidance of specialists, began to practice.
Majestic bamboo, dynamic sea waves, magnificent peonies… these patterns, filled with beautiful symbols, gradually came to life on the fires under the cups with every brush stroke of the workshop participants, causing admiration for the bright colors and skillful craftsmanship.
A representative of the Yanliuqing Art School, an heir to the intangible cultural heritage, also arrived at the event and told the teenagers about the complete system of inheriting the technology for creating the Yanliuqing New Year woodcuts /sketch, engraving, printing, coloring, editing/, as well as about the national characteristics and characteristic features of the regional culture that New Year woodcuts contain.
Chinese and foreign teenagers divided into 5 groups to paint the picture “China in My Heart” together. They took special brushes, dipped them in paints of different colors, periodically exchanging techniques in painting, and began to transfer their love for Tianjin and best wishes to it onto paper.
A senior official of the host country said that this event has created a good atmosphere for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization Tianjin Summit and deepened the understanding of overseas teenagers about Chinese culture, especially Tianjin regional culture. This exchange program has effectively promoted the international dissemination of China's excellent traditional culture and intangible cultural heritage projects, building a solid bridge to promote mutual learning among civilizations and bring peoples closer together. -0-
