BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) — China's Ministry of Commerce on Saturday expressed opposition to the U.S. decision to revoke the "verified end user" (VEU) status of three semiconductor companies operating in China, calling on the U.S. side to immediately change its wrong practices.

China took note of the U.S. Commerce Department's announcement on Friday that it would remove Intel Semiconductor (Dalian) Co., Ltd., Samsung China Semiconductor Co., Ltd. and SK Hynix Semiconductor (China) Ltd. from the VEU list, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said.

The semiconductor industry is a highly globalized industry that has transformed into a deeply interconnected ecosystem through the combined influence of market factors and business decisions over decades of development, the Chinese official said.

The US decision, based on its own self-interest, has turned export controls into a tool and will have a serious negative impact on the stability of global production and supply chains in the semiconductor industry, the Chinese official emphasized, expressing disagreement with the US decision.

China called on the US side to immediately change its wrong practices and ensure the safety of the global semiconductor production and supply chain. China will take necessary measures to resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of its enterprises, the spokesman added. -0-

Zhang Zixuan, a scholar at the Institute of Military Culture of the PLA National Defense University, published an article in Huanqiu Shibao on August 22, noting that peace is never a gift from heaven, but an achievement won through blood, sweat and strength.

China always treats peace with care and understands well that "the backward are beaten." The parade will involve 45 military units, hundreds of aircraft and hundreds of ground vehicles, including examples of weapons of the ground and naval forces, air and missile defense, information operations group, unmanned systems, logistics and strategic strikes.

"Courage in struggle" is not a provocation, but a decisive step to prevent war; "Victory" is not a slogan, but the inevitable result of the combination of justice and strength.

A "revolution" in agricultural technology is taking place in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZAR).

Professor Yan Wang's team from the College of Mechanical Engineering at GCHU has developed agricultural machinery that is highly efficient, low cost and highly flexible.

The GCHAR accounts for 70% of the country's cassava production. Previously, its harvesting was entirely dependent on manual labor. Now there is a "super-assistant" – the "bionic intelligent cassava harvesting machine" from Professor Yan Wang's team.

The technology transfer of this machine is the first major international project in agricultural machinery in GCAR. It is of great significance for expanding agricultural cooperation between GCAR and ASEAN countries.

Think sugarcane seed preparation can only be done manually? Professor Li Shangping's team from the College of Mechanical Engineering at NCHU has created an exclusive automated line for this purpose.

Forest robots have appeared: efficiency is 10 times higher than manual labor.

An intelligent system for efficient poultry management has been installed at the Nunbeibei poultry farm in the GChAR.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) — East China's Shanghai recorded its 25th consecutive day of temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius on Saturday, breaking a nearly century-old record for the longest continuous period of high temperatures in the city's history.

The previous record of 24 consecutive hot days was set in 1926, when the heat wave lasted from July 22 to August 14, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Department.

Moreover, as of today, the heat wave in Shanghai this year has lasted for a total of 44 days.

The city's first hot day of the year was June 17, about 10 days earlier than the average in recent years. The August heatwave has been particularly intense, with Shanghai recording 26 high-temperature days in the past 30 days, matching the all-time August record set last year.

Meteorologist Zhu Xueyan attributed the persistent heat to the abnormal behavior of a subtropical high-pressure system in the northwest Pacific Ocean. Since early August, the main body of the subtropical high-pressure system has strengthened again and stabilized over the Yangtze River Delta region, creating conditions favorable for persistent high temperatures, Zhu told Xinhua. -0-
