Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mr. Baghaei told Xinhua in Tehran in a recent interview that the SCO is an international organization with global influence and scope for action, which plays an important role in preserving multilateralism.

On August 31, a 500,000 kW photovoltaic desertification control project was successfully connected to the power grid and put into operation in Dalad Qi Hushun, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

TOKYO, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) — The country is experiencing its hottest summer on record this year, with the average temperature rising 2.36 degrees Celsius above the long-term average, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

MANILA, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) — A three-year-old girl and her nanny were killed and a six-year-old girl was seriously injured in a fire at a residential building in the Philippine capital Manila, the Fire Department said Tuesday.

The fire started around 11:55 p.m. on Monday in Malabon city, part of the Philippines' National Capital Region, leaving the victims trapped on the second floor of their rented home, the department said.

The fire department said a six-year-old girl was treated at a local hospital for serious burns to her arms and legs.
