BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — China has called on some Philippine figures to stop clowning around and making provocations over the Taiwan issue, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said Friday.

Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, commenting on statements by a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman that the Philippines had allowed the visit of Taiwan's so-called Foreign Affairs Department chief Lin Jialong, said China should not impose its "red lines" on the Philippines. He argued that the right to host a Taiwan "official" is an exercise of Philippine sovereignty and that Lin Jialong has not met with any Philippine officials. The Philippines is committed to the one-China policy, but China should not dictate to the Philippines on this issue, the defense minister added.

Guo Jiakun told a daily briefing for reporters that China had made clear its firm position on allowing the Philippine authorities to visit the head of Taiwan's so-called foreign affairs department.

The spokesperson stressed that the Philippine side has continuously made erroneous and provocative remarks and actions on the Taiwan issue, which seriously violate the fundamental norms of international relations and its commitments on the Taiwan issue, continuously damage China-Philippines relations, and trample on China's red lines.

“The Philippines will definitely have to pay for such actions, and all responsibility for the consequences will fall on the Philippine side,” Guo Jiakun said.

"We have noticed that Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro and others have repeatedly made irresponsible statements and deliberately stirred up hype on the Taiwan issue and other China-related issues," the diplomat said, adding that such actions openly challenge China's core interests, its "red lines" and principled positions. China will never tolerate and resolutely oppose such moves, Guo Jiakun said.

"We solemnly warn the Philippine side: any futile attempts to incite the Taiwan issue, interfere in China's internal affairs, and undermine China's sovereignty and territorial integrity will ultimately result in the initiators of such attempts suffering the consequences of their actions. We recommend that these Philippine actors stop clowning around," the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman concluded. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — The main battlefield in the East during the World Anti-Fascist War, namely the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, contributed to the construction of a new international order, according to a report released Friday by the Xinhua Institute, a think tank under the Xinhua News Agency.

The report, titled “Historical Retrospect, Upholding Justice – The Great Contribution of the Main Theater of War in the East to the World Anti-Fascist War,” was published in Chinese and English by the aforementioned think tank.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

According to the report, in the later stages of the World Anti-Fascist War, China played an active role in the establishment of the United Nations (UN) and the formation of the new post-war world order, achieving significant results. This post-war international order serves as the cornerstone of today's global peace and stability, and China has consistently acted as its main builder and defender.

The report said the defensive line created by Chinese military and civilians at the cost of their own lives served as an unbreakable chain that stopped Japan's aggression and fundamentally undermined the military foundation of the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere," ruining Japan's plans for world domination.

The report also noted that China participated in the entire process of establishing the UN and contributed to numerous important decisions.

According to the report, the UN, which China helped found, is the most universal, representative and authoritative international organization. It embodies a renewed vision for humanity and opens a new era of global cooperation. The UN Charter, which China helped draft, has become the cornerstone of the modern international order and defined the basic norms governing modern international relations. -0-
