BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) — The remains of 30 Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) who died in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid the Korean People (1950-53) will be returned to China from the Republic of Korea (ROK) on Friday, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs said.

The return of the remains of the Chinese People's Volunteers will take place for the twelfth time since the signing of the corresponding agreement between the two countries in 2014.

From 2014 to 2024, China and the ROK, in accordance with international law and humanitarian principles, have successfully completed 11 successive operations to hand over the remains of 981 CPVs and their associated personal belongings.

BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) — Thirty outdoor enthusiasts from Russia's Khabarovsk Territory took part in a Nordic walking competition held Sunday in Raohe County, Shuangyashan City, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, local media reported.

The 14km event attracted over 1,000 active recreation enthusiasts from 13 provincial-level administrative units in China. The participation of Russian citizens added a special atmosphere of Sino-Russian exchanges to the competition.

BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) — China is becoming a preferred venue for international commercial arbitration, Justice Minister He Rong said Monday, citing a sharp rise in the number of cases over the past five years.

ISTANBUL, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) — Five migrants were killed, one was missing and another was injured on Sunday when their boat collided with a coast guard vessel off the coast of Turkey's northwestern province of Balikesir, local authorities said.

A statement from the Balikesir Governor's Office said the incident occurred during a coast guard operation as part of the fight against illegal migration.

It is reported that a high-speed fiberglass boat carrying a smuggler and 34 illegal migrants crashed into a coast guard vessel off the coast of the resort town of Ayvalik.

KABUL, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) — A total of 107,037 Afghan refugees returned home from neighboring Iran and Pakistan over the past week, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said in a report on Sunday.

The ministry said all returnees received necessary assistance, including food, drinking water, medical services and free transportation to their hometowns.

KABUL, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) — The first batch of emergency humanitarian aid for earthquake victims provided by the Chinese government to Afghanistan arrived in Kabul on Sunday.

The cargo, delivered by two Y-20 aircraft of the People's Liberation Army Air Force, includes tents, blankets and other essential supplies for the affected areas.

The ceremony of handing over the cargo was attended by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan Bao Xuhui, Deputy Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development of Afghanistan Sharafuddin Muslim, as well as representatives of the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Disaster Management Authority and the Red Crescent Society.
