TAIYUAN, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) — The cumulative gas output from China's largest Daning-Jixian coalbed methane field in north China's Shanxi Province has exceeded 4 billion cubic meters, setting a new domestic record, according to the field's operator PetroChina Coalbed Methane Co., Ltd.

As an unconventional natural gas, coal bed methane is considered a clean and strategic energy resource. Its use helps reduce production risks, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and alleviate gas shortages.

Shanxi Province has abundant coalbed methane reserves, estimated at 8.31 trillion cubic meters, located at a depth of less than 2,000 meters, accounting for nearly a third of the national total. At present, the Danning-Jixian gas field produces more than 6.5 million cubic meters of gas per day, up more than 50 percent from the same period last year, showing strong growth momentum.

The coalbed methane deposit is located on the eastern edge of the Ordos Basin, with resources occurring at an average depth of 2,130 m. The total estimated coalbed methane resources of the deposit are approximately 600 billion cubic meters. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) — Cognac, honey and felt products… The stand of the Kyrgyz Republic attracted the attention of the participants at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS-2025), which is being held from Sept. 10 to 14 in Shougang Park in western Beijing.

“We represent the export potential, the tourism sector, as well as achievements in the field of high technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic,” noted Bermet Kurmanbaeva, an expert at the Kyrgyz Export Center under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, who is participating in CIFTIS for the second time.

This year marks the first time the fair is being held in full at Shougang Park, a 3 square kilometer industrial heritage site and one of the host sites of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

According to B. Kurmanbaeva, CIFTIS is an excellent platform for developing trade and economic relations between the two countries. “The scale of the exhibition is very large and we hope to find good Chinese partners here for further cooperation.”

The fair, titled “Using Smart Technologies to Empower Services Trade,” highlights a focus that resonates far beyond China.

“Of course, the fair opens up new opportunities for Kyrgyzstan in the area of finding new partners, demonstrating its successes and expanding contacts for further cooperation,” noted Deputy Director of the High-Tech Park of the Kyrgyz Republic Chubak Temirov.

He added that, on the one hand, the event will help Kyrgyz technology companies enter the Chinese market, find local partners here and sell their services.

“On the other hand, the fair will allow Chinese IT companies to learn about the development of high technologies in our country and choose opportunities to open branches here,” he emphasized.

According to official data, in the first half of 2025, the volume of bilateral trade between China and Kyrgyzstan amounted to 14.25 billion US dollars, which is 53.8 percent more year-on-year. At the same time, China is the largest trading partner of Kyrgyzstan.

In particular, the volume of exports from China to Kyrgyzstan reached USD 10.36 billion, an increase of 13.1 percent, and the volume of imports from Kyrgyzstan to China reached USD 3.89 billion, an increase of 37 times year-on-year.

"The Chinese market is very large. We are glad to see that the Chinese audience has quite a big interest in the authentic products of our country, as well as in our culture and nature," said B. Kurmanbaeva.

According to data from the Ministry of Commerce, China's total service import and export volume exceeded 3.8 trillion yuan (about $532 billion) in the first half of 2025, with an annual growth of 8 percent, demonstrating steady growth in the country's services trade.

As noted by Doctor of Economics, Professor, Vice-Rector of the International Higher School of Medicine in the Kyrgyz Republic Tolonbek Abdyrov, against the backdrop of greater pressure on the growth of global trade in goods, this growth confirms that services are becoming a strategic sector that is forming a new vector of global integration.

Let us recall that this year 85 countries and international organizations, as well as about 2,000 companies, including about 500 companies from the Fortune Global 500 list and leading industry enterprises, are participating in CIFTIS.

T. Abdyrov emphasized that CIFTIS has become an important signal that, as one of the key drivers of the global economy, China maintains its course towards high-level openness and development of trade in services.

“This event is not only a showcase of China’s achievements, but also an invitation to different countries to jointly form new generation rules and practices based on innovation, digitalization and sustainable development,” he concluded. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) — Chinese authorities have unveiled a two-year plan to stabilize growth in the auto sector, setting a target of about 32.3 million vehicles sold by 2025, up about 3 percent from last year.

According to a document jointly released by eight government departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) are projected to reach about 15.5 million units in 2025, an increase of about 20 percent.

Other targets for this year include stable growth in automobile exports and a 6 percent increase in the automotive industry's value-added. The industry is expected to maintain robust growth by 2026, with improvements in efficiency, quality and scale.

The plan includes more than 60 measures in four key areas, including stimulating domestic demand, strengthening industrial and supply chains, optimizing the business environment, and deepening openness and cooperation.

On the demand side, the plan outlines measures to accelerate the expansion of the NEV market and promote smart connected vehicle technologies. The document states that more than 700,000 additional NEVs will be piloted in 25 cities in sectors such as public transportation, taxis and logistics.

Supply-side initiatives focus on technological innovation to drive consumer demand and standard improvements to improve product quality. The plan focuses on breakthroughs in automotive chips, operating systems, artificial intelligence, and solid-state batteries.

To optimize the industrial ecosystem and strengthen global cooperation, the plan emphasizes the need for stronger cost accounting and price monitoring, product compliance verification, timely payments by major automakers, and orderly overseas expansion. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) — The China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS 2025) is being held from Sept. 10 to 14 in Shougang Park in western Beijing, showcasing the opening up of China's market and providing enterprises from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative a platform to share China's development opportunities.

The fair, titled “Using Smart Technologies to Empower Services Trade,” highlights a focus that resonates far beyond China.

“Tajikistan has rich natural resources, diverse tourism opportunities and a unique folk culture, which are important advantages that attract tourists from all over the world,” said Rustam Kholmatiyon, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, at the 2025 World Conference on Cooperation and Development in Tourism within the framework of CIFTIS.

He added that this event not only creates a bridge connecting Dushanbe with the world, but also provides opportunities to exchange experiences and knowledge in the field of tourism with Chinese colleagues.

“We are very happy to see our Chinese friends in Tajikistan, and we really hope that they will experience our hospitality and get to know our unique culture,” said Rustam Kholmatiyon.

In the first half of 2025, China's total trade in services grew 8 percent year-on-year to 3.9 trillion yuan (about $548.82 billion), a record high, according to data from the Ministry of Commerce.

According to the General Administration of Customs, China's total foreign trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative increased by 5.4 percent to 15.3 trillion yuan from January to August this year.

It is worth noting that along with trade in services, considerable attention was also paid to trade in goods at this CIFTIS. Enterprises from countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative actively presented a variety of products at the fair, thereby demonstrating the versatility of economic cooperation within the framework of this initiative.

“Here we will be able to communicate with Chinese companies and share business opportunities, which is important for us,” said Bella, an employee of the Mongolian national pavilion, who introduced Mongolian cashmere products to visitors to the fair in fluent Chinese.

“We are very grateful to have a platform for cooperation and exchange of views like CIFTIS,” Bella emphasized, adding that China’s huge consumer market means broad development prospects for businesses from all over the world.

In addition, the Iranian stand with hand-made carpet-paintings that can be hung on the wall was extremely popular at the event.

"The main feature of our products is that they are completely handmade. Now the aesthetic demands of Chinese consumers are growing day by day, and this is a great opportunity for us," said Eva, manager of Persian Impression (Commerce) Beijing Co., Ltd., adding that she would like to find potential partners through this event.

Let us recall that the scale of CIFTIS this year is enormous, with 85 countries and international organizations participating. In addition, about 2,000 companies are participating in the fair, including about 500 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders.

Liu Chongxiao, Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages at Capital University of Economics and Trade, said CIFTIS has been actively building a sustainable development ecosystem based on long-term value, enhancing its international influence and making significant contributions to the development of trade in services in China and around the world. -0-

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) — The United Nations General Assembly (GA) on Friday adopted a draft resolution endorsing the New York Declaration on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question and the realization of a "two-state solution" for two peoples.

The UN General Assembly adopted the resolution with 142 votes in favor. 10 countries voted against the document, and 12 abstained.

The New York Declaration is the outcome of a high-level international conference held at the UN headquarters in late July. It sets out an action-oriented path to a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the realization of the “two states for two peoples” principle.

The draft resolution was introduced by France and Saudi Arabia, which also co-chaired the international conference.

The Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine thanked the countries that supported the declaration and called on those who “still insist on war and destruction” to listen to the voice of reason.

According to him, the peaceful option is suitable for all who support the solution based on the principle of “two states for two peoples.” It opens the door to integration throughout the Middle East and allows the region to realize its potential in terms of development and cooperation. –0–

WASHINGTON, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump will meet with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani in New York on Friday, days after Israel's airstrike on Hamas leaders in Doha, local media reported.

Special presidential envoy Steven Witkoff is expected to attend the meeting.

The Qatari prime minister left for New York after hours of talks with US Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the White House earlier on Friday, NBC News reported.

The White House meeting was described as “very positive,” the statement said, adding that the two discussed Qatar’s role in promoting peace in the Middle East and the two countries’ defense cooperation agreement.

The Qatari prime minister's visit to the US came ahead of an emergency Arab summit called by Qatar following Tuesday's Israeli strike.

Later Tuesday, Trump said he deeply regretted the choice of location for the attack and assured Qatari leaders by phone that something like that would never happen again on their soil.

Qatar has accused Israel of trying to sabotage peace talks but said it would not give up its role as a mediator in ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas. –0–
