RIYADH, March 19 (Xinhua) — Foreign ministers from 12 Arab and Islamic countries held a ministerial consultation meeting in Riyadh on Wednesday to discuss regional developments, calling on Iran to stop its attacks and condemning Israel's "expansionist policies" in the region.

Moscow, March 19 /Xinhua/ — More than 20 emergency rescue infrastructure facilities are planned to be built in Russia by 2050 as part of the comprehensive development plan for the Arctic zone and the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Disaster Relief (EMERCOM) reported on Thursday.

Funding for the first five of these projects is already included in the state "Construction" program; work on them will be carried out between 2026 and 2031, said Roman Kurynin, Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. Construction of the airfield infrastructure in Sabetta and the Arctic Integrated Emergency and Rescue Center in Tiksi will begin in 2026.

BEIJING, March 19 (Xinhua) — Chinese authorities have unveiled plans to strengthen price monitoring and cost investigations as part of further efforts to regulate competition in the new energy vehicle (NEV) industry.

Part of such efforts includes normalizing financial policies in the auto industry and making the fight against network chaos in the industry permanent and long-term, according to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and two other government agencies, which recently held a joint meeting with NEV companies.

The meeting discussed, in particular, the need to intensify interdepartmental cooperation and strengthen innovative growth methods in order to ensure the industry achieves higher-quality development.

Moscow, March 19 /Xinhua/ — Russian tourists who went on vacation abroad this winter most often chose Asian destinations, RIA Novosti reports, citing the results of a joint study by analysts from the YuMoney wallet and the Othello booking service.

According to analysts, Russians most frequently booked accommodations in Turkey, Thailand, and Belarus. Armenia, Kazakhstan, the UAE, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Georgia, and China also made the top ten.

"Analysis of international bookings shows a clear trend: Russians are actively exploring Asia. Interest in Vietnam, Kazakhstan, and China has grown significantly—these destinations are showing the largest growth in their share of total bookings over the winter period," the analysts added.

According to the survey results, 51 percent of respondents took a vacation this winter, another 12 percent are still on vacation, and the remaining 37 percent decided to do without a winter vacation.

KUWAIT CITY, March 19 (Xinhua) — The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation confirmed on Thursday that drone attacks caused fires at two of Kuwait's largest oil refineries. The fires were quickly contained, and no casualties were reported.

In a statement released by the Kuwait News Agency, the corporation said one of the production units at the Abdullah refinery was attacked by a drone, causing a fire.

Moscow, March 19 /Xinhua/ — Gazprom reported the escalation and repulsion of new attacks on its facilities that supply gas exports via the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream pipelines to Turkey.

According to ITAR-TASS, citing a statement from the holding company, attacks on critical infrastructure facilities supporting gas exports via the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream pipelines escalated between March 17 and 19. WASHINGTON, March 19 (Xinhua) — U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said on Wednesday that the vertical power structure in Iran remains strong despite significant military pressure.

"The U.S. intelligence community assesses that the Iranian regime appears to remain intact, albeit severely weakened by Operation Epic Fury," Gabbard said at the Senate Intelligence Committee's annual hearing on global threats facing the country.

Kabul/Islamabad, March 19 (Xinhua) — Afghanistan and Pakistan announced a suspension of hostilities during the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, the two countries' authorities announced on Wednesday.

BANGKOK, March 19 (Xinhua) — Anutin Charnvirakul, candidate of the Bhumjaithai Party, was re-elected as Thailand's prime minister with a simple majority in the House of Representatives on Thursday.

Anutin Charnvirakul, whose party won the most seats in the newly elected House of Representatives, was nominated for prime minister against Natthapong Ruengpanyavut, the leader of the People's Party, who came second in the February elections.
