NEW YORK, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) — Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday expressed hope that Bill Gates and the Gates Foundation will play a role in further deepening exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States to achieve more practical results.

Li Qiang made the statement at a meeting with B. Gates, Chairman of the Gates Foundation, on the sidelines of the general debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

Li Qiang expressed gratitude to B. Gates and his foundation for their long-term commitment to global poverty reduction, health, development and philanthropy.

Noting that China has made tremendous achievements in the field of healthcare in recent years and built the world's largest disease control and medical care system, Li Qiang said that China is also actively involved in global development cooperation.

China is willing to expand cooperation with the fund, implement more joint projects across the entire healthcare chain worldwide, and actively participate in trilateral and multilateral cooperation with developing countries to bring greater benefits to the people and make greater contributions to global development, the Chinese Premier said.

Li Qiang expressed hope that the fund will continue to strengthen cooperation with relevant Chinese departments and local partners, using relevant platforms to implement cooperation projects.

According to him, the healthy and stable development of Sino-US relations benefits not only the two countries but also the world as a whole.

In the face of growing global challenges, he called on both countries to maintain close cooperation, strengthen and improve global governance, and jointly promote global stability, development and prosperity.

In turn, B. Gates stated that China's achievements in areas such as scientific and technological innovation, artificial intelligence, medicine and healthcare, as well as poverty reduction, have attracted the attention of the entire world in recent years.

He noted that the foundation hopes to further strengthen its relationship with China and carry out more substantive cooperation in the field of global health, especially in developing countries, in order to jointly advance the cause of global development.

Calling the US-China relationship one of the most important bilateral relationships in the world today, Gates pledged that he and the foundation would work actively to promote closer communication and cooperation between the two countries and to jointly address global challenges. –0–

BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) — China on Thursday called on the United States to take positive actions, lift relevant unreasonable customs duties and create conditions for expanding bilateral trade.

Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesman He Yadong made the announcement at a regular ministry press conference, responding to questions about China's potential purchases of American soybeans and Boeing aircraft.

According to him, the biggest obstacle currently hindering the normal development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries is the restrictive measures unilaterally imposed by the United States.

He Yadong emphasized that the essence of bilateral trade and economic relations is mutual benefit and win-win, and that the two countries share broad common interests and have ample space for cooperation in this area.

“We hope that the American side will move towards China to create favorable conditions for the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of Chinese-American trade and economic ties,” He Yadong added. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) — Business talks were held between enterprises from Heihe and Jinhua, east China's Zhejiang Province, in Heihe, northeast China, on Sept. 23. The talks were titled "Heilongjiang and Zhejiang Provinces Join Forces to Enter International Markets."

According to the Heilongjiang Provincial Government website, the event aimed to deepen cooperation between businesses in the two cities and Russia, as well as to create an effective and practical platform for joint efforts to develop international markets. The meeting was attended by approximately 60 representatives of businesses from both cities and Russian businessmen.

As a key hub for China's opening up to Russia, Heihe is located opposite Blagoveshchensk, the third-largest city in the Russian Far East, and offers unique advantages for trade with Russia. Last year, Heihe's trade volume with Russia exceeded 30 billion yuan, an increase of 15.9 percent and accounting for 96.8 percent of the city's total imports and exports.

Heihe has now established a system of cooperation with Russia focused on energy imports and agricultural and engineering exports. Last year, engineering exports totaled 5.05 billion yuan (up 17.6 percent), while agricultural exports totaled 560 million yuan (up 100.5 percent).

Jinhua boasts a vibrant private economy and a strong industrial base, occupying a key position in the global small-commodity trade market. Representatives from over 20 high-quality Jinhua companies attended the talks, drawn by Heihe's unique advantages and favorable policies, hoping to leverage this opportunity to deepen cooperation with Russia.

The free trade zone's preferential policies and development opportunities were presented in detail during the talks. Companies from both cities reached a number of cooperation agreements and signed various contracts. Participants noted that the meeting allowed them to better understand Heihe's strengths, the political environment, and market demand, laying a solid foundation for future activities in import and export, cross-border e-commerce, and cooperation with Russia.

Bishkek, September 25 (Xinhua) — Members of Kyrgyzstan's Zhogorku Kenesh (parliament) decided to dissolve themselves on Thursday.

"At the meeting of the Zhogorku Kenesh on September 25, deputies reviewed and adopted a draft resolution 'On the self-dissolution of the 7th convocation of the Zhogorku Kenesh,'" the press service of the Kyrgyz parliament reported on Thursday.

Information on this issue was provided by Zhogorku Kenesh deputy Ulan Primov. He noted that the initiative to dissolve the current parliament was put forward by a group of 32 deputies.

As U. Primov explained, the difference between two important political events—the presidential and parliamentary elections—is only a short period of time. Therefore, in order to strengthen the political system and stability in the country, the initiative group proposes that parliament voluntarily resign.

According to the plan, parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan were supposed to be held in November 2026, but presidential elections are scheduled for two months later, in January 2027.

Following the vote, 84 deputies supported the initiative group's proposal to dissolve parliament. The country's parliament currently consists of 90 deputies.
