TAIYUAN, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) — The 9th Pingyao International Film Festival opened Wednesday evening in the ancient town of Pingyao, north China's Shanxi Province. The event will feature 53 films from 25 countries and regions, including China, Nigeria, Iraq, Norway, Japan, Iran, Brazil, Singapore, and Bulgaria.

Bishkek, September 25 (Xinhua) — Members of Kyrgyzstan's Zhogorku Kenesh (parliament) decided to dissolve themselves on Thursday.

"At the meeting of the Zhogorku Kenesh on September 25, deputies reviewed and adopted a draft resolution 'On the self-dissolution of the 7th convocation of the Zhogorku Kenesh,'" the press service of the Kyrgyz parliament reported on Thursday.

Information on this issue was provided by Zhogorku Kenesh deputy Ulan Primov. He noted that the initiative to dissolve the current parliament was put forward by a group of 32 deputies.

As U. Primov explained, the difference between two important political events—the presidential and parliamentary elections—is only a short period of time. Therefore, in order to strengthen the political system and stability in the country, the initiative group proposes that parliament voluntarily resign.

According to the plan, parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan were supposed to be held in November 2026, but presidential elections are scheduled for two months later, in January 2027.

Following the vote, 84 deputies supported the initiative group's proposal to dissolve parliament. The country's parliament currently consists of 90 deputies.
