TIANJIN, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — The first batch of Chinese agricultural machinery exported to Central Asia from Tianjin through the bonded cargo leasing mechanism recently cleared customs and was sent to Kazakhstan.

The equipment, valued at approximately 5 million yuan, was supplied by China Textile Machinery and Technology Import and Export Co., Ltd. (CTMTC), and was exported and leased by a leasing company operating in the Dongjiang Bonded Industrial Zone in Tianjin.

In Kazakhstan, these agricultural equipment will be used in a large cotton processing complex created by a leading cotton company from Xinjiang, China, in cooperation with the Kazakh side.

This delivery marks the first successful trial of a new export model in the form of bonded cargo leasing, which, according to experts, will facilitate the promotion of Chinese equipment in the Central Asian markets and deepen industrial cooperation between China and the countries of the region. -0-

Beijing, September 29 (Xinhua) — Nankai University in Tianjin, northern China, recently launched joint programs with the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) in Kazakhstan.

The opening ceremony of the academic year for the joint master's degree programs in economics, international business, and strategic trade control took place last Friday at Nankai University, according to the university's official website.

The event was attended by Nankai University Vice-Rector Sheng Bin, ENU Dean of the Faculty of Economics Aida Zhagyparova, and other ENU representatives.

Kazakhstan is of great importance to the advancement of the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, Sheng Bin noted at the opening ceremony, adding that the launch of the above-mentioned programs represents the first step taken by Nankai University in cooperation with universities in Central Asian countries.

He noted that the program's two tracks—economics and international business, and strategic trade control—are closely linked to contemporary political and economic priorities. Nankai University will do everything possible to create satisfactory conditions for students to study and live, the university's vice-rector stated.

The joint academic programs between Nankai University and ENU were approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education in May of this year. During the Tianjin SCO Summit, which took place from August 31 to September 1, Nankai University and ENU signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

180 young Chinese students participated in the joint study programs. The two-year program for these master's students will be held at Nankai University with the participation of ENU faculty. Upon successful completion of their final exams and defense of their master's theses (or dissertations), they will receive a master's degree from ENU.

Beijing, September 29 (Xinhua) — The Russian Export Center (REC) is expanding its network of Russian national pavilions in China, opening a new site in the country's capital on Monday.

“This marks a key step in the strategy of ‘Purchasing throughout Russia and selling throughout China,’” noted Yang Dayun, Deputy General Director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Transport and Investment Corporation, a partner of the Russian Export Center in China, in his speech at the opening ceremony.

According to him, the joint promotion of the Russian national pavilion's brand strategy by the corporation and the Russian Export Center is an important reflection of the deepening mutual trust between China and Russia in the trade and economic sphere.

Alexey Solodov, Vice President of JSC REC, also delivered a video address at the ceremony. The Russian national pavilion in Beijing has already become the seventh regional promotional point and the thirteenth "Made in Russia" retail store in China. According to Solodov, this speaks volumes about the dynamic development of the national pavilion program and confirms that Russian-Chinese trade and economic cooperation has reached a new level.

"Each new project clearly demonstrates that Russia and China are not only strategic economic partners, but also friends united by a common desire to open up new opportunities, cooperation formats, and prospects for long-term collaboration for citizens of both countries," stated A. Solodov.

A distinctive feature of the new 800-square-meter pavilion is its significantly expanded product range. While previously focused on food products, it now features not only food products from over 100 Russian manufacturers, but also industrial goods and services from Russian companies.

"This provides an opportunity to demonstrate to China the full potential of modern Russia – from traditional products to high-tech solutions," emphasized A. Solodov.

It's worth noting that the Beijing pavilion has already built a comprehensive product traceability system, covering the entire supply chain from production to the end consumer.

In the store's traceability zone, each product is assigned a unique QR code. Customers can scan the code and access all product information in real time, guaranteeing the authenticity of products purchased from a Russian manufacturer.

Ilya Romanov, General Director of Heilongjiang Trading Company "Treasure of the Russian Sea" – operator of the Russian national pavilion in China – stated: "We believe in the potential of Russian-Chinese partnership, we see how great the interest of Chinese consumers in Russian products is, and we are ready to support, develop and strengthen this interest – systematically, consistently, with respect for Chinese culture, habits and expectations of the Chinese market." -0-

Beijing, September 29 (Xinhua) — Digital technologies and modern Generation Z are fundamentally changing the landscape of cultural interaction between Russia and China, serving as key drivers of its democratization and intensification. This assessment was given by Tatyana Urzhumtseva, Counselor at the Russian Embassy in China and Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing (RCC), in an interview with a correspondent from the China News Service.

In her opinion, modern technologies, by erasing geographical and financial barriers, have opened a new era in humanitarian exchanges.

"Digital technologies create space for dialogue and even polylogue. This is a powerful tool that has made cultural exchange between young people in Russia and China widespread," emphasized Tatyana Urzhumtseva.

She cited the Moscow Cultural Festival held in Beijing in June as a successful example, featuring digital fireworks displays and VR experiences that allowed visitors to experience Moscow while in Beijing.

Tatyana Urzhumtseva assigned a special role to Generation Z in this process. According to her, young people, who are at home in the digital environment, are introducing their peers to the authentic lives of both countries through independent films, video blogs, and cosplay, thereby dispelling stereotypes and creating a new, more sincere image of the neighboring countries.

Tatyana Urzhumtseva expressed confidence that the future of Russian-Chinese cultural cooperation lies in deepening partnerships in the performing arts, film, and publishing, as well as in the joint creation of digital platforms such as virtual museums and online exhibitions.

“This will enrich the content of Russian-Chinese relations, making a new contribution to the diversity of world culture,” she concluded. -0-

NANJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — Nanjing Massacre survivor Xiong Shulan, 94, died on Saturday, bringing the total number of registered survivors of the tragedy to 25, the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Museum in east China's Jiangsu Province said Monday.

The Nanjing Massacre occurred after the Japanese occupation forces captured Nanjing, then the capital of China, on December 13, 1937. Over the course of six weeks, the invaders killed approximately 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers. This tragedy is considered one of the most barbaric episodes of World War II.

In 1937, after Japanese troops entered Nanjing, Xiong Shulan survived by shaved her head and disguised herself as a boy.

The deceased was a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for 40 years and was passionate about performing kuaiban – folk poems recited to the sound of bamboo slats.

Since the beginning of this year, seven survivors of the Nanjing Massacre have already died, as a result of which the number of people directly involved in those events continues to decrease.

In 2014, the 7th Session of the Standing Committee of the 12th NPC declared December 13 as National Remembrance Day for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre.

The Chinese government also recorded survivors' testimonies, both in written and video form. This evidence of the massacres was inscribed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register in 2015. -0-

Khartoum, September 29 (Xinhua) — At least 95 people have died from hunger and disease in the Abu Shouk camp for displaced persons in El Fasher, western Sudan, over the past 40 days, volunteer groups reported on Sunday.

Abu Shouk camp's emergency department said in a statement that 73 children under five and 22 elderly people had died from hunger and disease in the camp.

"The security and humanitarian situation in El Fasher remains dire, with residents facing acute shortages of food, water, and medical care, particularly displaced persons who lack access to humanitarian aid and basic services," the statement reads. The volunteer group warned of a looming health crisis, citing unburied bodies scattered throughout the city amid ongoing insecurity, and called on international organizations to create safe corridors for civilians fleeing the conflict.

The El Fasher Resistance Coordination Committee, another volunteer group, confirmed the deaths and reported a sharp deterioration in the humanitarian situation, citing ongoing shelling, the cessation of essential services, and the closure of most soup kitchens amid a lack of funding and rising prices. –0–

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — The first batch of flood relief supplies provided by the Chinese government arrived in Pakistan on Sunday, according to the National Disaster Management Authority.

Two Chinese planes carrying humanitarian aid (300 tents and 9,000 blankets) landed in the eastern Pakistani city of Rawalpindi, demonstrating China's continued solidarity with Pakistan during this difficult time, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Amir Muqam expressed deep gratitude to the government and people of China for their immediate support, noting that this assistance will bring much-needed relief to thousands of flood-affected families.

BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — China's relevant departments recently released a plan to promote stable growth in the non-ferrous metals sector, which envisages an average annual growth rate of about 5 percent in the industry's added value in 2025-2026.

According to a plan jointly released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and seven other government agencies, China's production of 10 major non-ferrous metals is expected to grow by about 1.5 percent annually in 2025 and 2026.

The plan also sets out objectives including increasing the annual volume of recycled metals to more than 20 million tonnes, increasing the supply of high-tech products, and enhancing the clean and low-carbon development of the industry.

To promote stable growth in the industry, the plan proposes measures such as achieving breakthroughs in the development of ultra-pure metals and new advanced rare earth materials, as well as promoting the application of rare metals in emerging fields such as integrated circuits and artificial intelligence.

In terms of non-ferrous metal recycling, China will support the establishment of renewable resource recycling bases and strengthen the comprehensive utilization of scrap, including from discarded batteries and end-of-life photovoltaic modules.

China is also implementing a series of stabilization measures targeting 10 key industries, including ferrous metallurgy, non-ferrous metallurgy, petrochemicals, chemicals, building materials, machinery, automobiles, power equipment, light industry, and electronic information, which are vital to maintaining stability in the industrial economy and the national economy as a whole. -0-
