BEIJING, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) — The Red Cross Society of China on Monday activated an emergency response mechanism after Typhoon Matmo, the 21st typhoon this year, hit Guangdong Province in southern China.

According to the organization, 3,400 emergency aid kits, including family emergency kits and blankets, were urgently dispatched to the affected areas.

Lhasa, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) — All 350 hikers stranded by heavy snowfall in Tingri County, Shigatse City, Xizang Autonomous Region, southwest China, had safely reached their collection point as of the evening of October 5, local sources reported Monday.

According to information released by the Tingri County Integrated Media Center, contact has also been established with more than 200 other tourists who are heading to the assembly point in Qudan Township following instructions from county officials.

Heavy snowfall hit the county on the evening of October 4, creating problems for hikers on mountain trails near the village of Qudan. County authorities quickly mobilized emergency teams to establish communications and provide assistance to those affected.

Almaty, October 6 (Xinhua) — To achieve the goal of doubling Kazakhstan's gross domestic product (GDP) to $450 billion by 2029, investment in the economy must increase more than 2.5-fold, from $41 billion in 2024 to $103 billion in 2029, the Kazinform news agency reported, citing the country's government.

Khartoum, October 6 (Xinhua) — Sudan and South Sudan have agreed to protect oil facilities and central pumping stations on pipelines transporting oil from South Sudan to Port Sudan in eastern Sudan, according to a joint statement released on Monday.

The document notes that the parties have committed to strengthening technical potential, increasing oil production volumes, and ensuring the safety of oil fields and key pumping stations.

In addition, the two countries agreed to continue cooperation in areas such as counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing and border security.

As part of efforts to deepen economic ties, the two sides announced plans to establish a joint economic committee to develop cooperation in various areas, including trade, investment, energy, oil production, agriculture, transport, infrastructure, and public-private partnerships.

Almaty, October 6 (Xinhua) — Turkmenistan's GDP growth in the first nine months of 2025 amounted to 6.3 percent, the country's International Information Center reported on Monday.
