Tehran, March 22 (Xinhua) — Vessels, except for "hostile" ones, are allowed to transit the Strait of Hormuz with coordinated security and safety measures, Iran's representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Ali Mousavi, said in a statement published by the Mehr news agency on Sunday.

He emphasized that international maritime obligations must be balanced with respect for Iran's territorial integrity and sovereign rights. Tehran is ready to cooperate with the IMO and other countries to enhance maritime security and protect seafarers, Mousavi noted.

"Diplomacy remains Iran's priority. However, a complete cessation of aggression, as well as mutual trust and confidence, are more important," he said, adding that US and Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic are "the root cause of the current situation in the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz." –0–

Moscow, March 22 (Xinhua) — As the world enters an era of resource scarcity and the disruption of global supply chains, both Russia's partners and adversaries will increasingly value its role as a global supplier of commodities and essential goods. This opinion was expressed by Kirill Dmitriev, the Presidential Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and the Head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), according to RIA Novosti.

“As the world enters an era of scarcity and disruption of global supply chains, both partners and adversaries of Russia will increasingly value its vital role as one of the world’s top three suppliers of oil, gas, helium, fertilizers, grain, and other essential goods,” he wrote on social media.

Fuel prices are rising in most countries worldwide due to the effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for deliveries of oil and liquefied natural gas from the Persian Gulf countries to the global market. –0–

XI'AN, March 22 (Xinhua) — A three-day Silk Road Cultural Fair kicked off Friday in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, celebrating not only cultural exchanges but also welcoming the arrival of spring with the participation of international students and local residents.

This year, March 20th marks the Chunfen, or spring equinox (the fourth of the 24 seasons of the Chinese agricultural calendar). This date also marks the celebration of Nowruz, one of the most important traditional holidays in Central Asian countries, symbolizing the arrival of spring, the rebirth of nature, and the beginning of a new year.

As Cheng Jianshe, a representative of the event organizer, noted, Xi'an, as the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and an important hub for the Belt and Road Initiative, is a vanguard for cultural exchanges between China and Central Asian countries. The goal of this event is to promote exchanges between different cultures.

The fair is divided into four main zones: a display of cultural goods from the Silk Road, a display of goods from Central Asia, a tasting of international delicacies, and an interactive experience in folk customs.

The fair showcases not only exquisite handicrafts from Central Asia but also high-quality Chinese cultural products. Students from Central Asia also perform traditional dances, and Chinese folk artists display paper cutouts and hanging dolls.

The delicacy tasting area was particularly lively. Participants sampled traditional dishes such as pilaf, shashlik, pastries, and more.

Aidana Sagynbaeva, a student from Kyrgyzstan, eagerly sampled the plov after watching traditional folk dances. She said the events reminded her of Navruz celebrations in her hometown: people having fun, dancing and singing, and sampling delicious dishes.

For Abdusalam Beishenbekov, a student from Kyrgyzstan, such events brought back a taste of his native land and left a deep impression on him. -0-

Moscow, March 22 (Xinhua) — Russian diplomacy sees its mission as defending national interests while respecting partners and seeking a balance of interests, which fundamentally distinguishes Moscow's approach from that of Western countries. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated this in an interview with Russian media on Saturday.

He noted that today the United States adheres to the doctrine of dominance in global energy markets; they welcomed and welcome the fact that Russia is being marginalized in European energy markets.

S. Lavrov characterized the current historical stage as a return to a world in which there is no international law and where only the principle of "might is truth" applies.

"The United States has officially declared that 'no one tells them what to do.' They care only about their own well-being. They are prepared to defend this well-being by any means necessary—coups, kidnappings, or assassinations of the leaders of countries that have natural resources the Americans need. Venezuela, Iran—our American colleagues don't hide the fact that it's oil. They have a doctrine of dominance in global energy markets. Lukoil PJSC and Rosneft Group of Companies have been sanctioned. These are the first major sanctions imposed by the Trump administration, not a legacy of the Biden administration," the minister said.

TEHRAN, March 22 (Xinhua) — An Iranian international relations expert said on Saturday that Iran attacked a nuclear facility in the southern Israeli town of Dimona earlier in the day in retaliation for Israel's strike on Iran's Natanz nuclear facility.

Morteza Simiari made the statement live on state-run IRIB television, commenting on Iran's retaliatory missile strike on an Israeli city.

He said the attack came less than 24 hours after Israel "crazily" struck a target in Natanz in the central province of Isfahan.

M. Simiari said Iran's new "tit-for-tat" strategy entails retaliatory action, but with greater intensity, against any military action taken by Israel. According to Israeli medical officials, more than 30 people were injured in the Iranian missile strike on Dimona.

Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said there was no evidence of damage to Israel's Negev nuclear research center as a result of the missile attack on Dimona.

RIYADH, March 22 (Xinhua) — Saudi Arabia has declared the military attaché and four other employees of the Iranian Embassy personae non gratae and asked them to leave the country within 24 hours, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.

The decision was a result of Iran's attacks on some countries, including Saudi Arabia, the ministry said, adding that Riyadh will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty, ensure security and protect its territory, airspace, citizens, residents, capabilities and interests in accordance with the UN Charter.

The development comes amid heightened tensions in the region following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran that began on February 28, to which Tehran and its regional allies responded with attacks on Israeli and US targets across the Middle East.
