LONDON, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) — Britain's online safety regulator Ofcom said Monday it has launched a formal investigation into US entrepreneur Elon Musk's social media platform X under Britain's Online Safety Act over concerns it could be used to create sexualized images of women and children.

Ofcom said in a statement that it was deeply concerned by reports that Grok, an artificial intelligence tool available on the social network X, was used to create and distribute unauthorised intimate images and child sexual abuse material without consent.

The regulator called the Grok case a “top priority” and emphasized that it could block access to X “if necessary.”

If an investigation finds that a social network has violated the law, Ofcom may require it to take specific measures to bring its operations into compliance with the law or to remedy the damage caused by the violations. Moscow, January 12 (Xinhua) — On January 9, the Russian Armed Forces struck the Lviv State Aircraft Repair Plant with an Oreshnik missile system, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Monday.

DHAKA, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) — Three people were killed and 10 others injured on Monday when a train and a pickup truck collided at a railway crossing in Faridpur district in central Bangladesh, about 101 km from the capital Dhaka.

Rakibul Hasan, a senior official in Boalmari sub-county, told Xinhua by telephone that all the dead and injured were jute mill workers. They were in a pickup truck at the time of the incident.

TEHRAN, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) — Tens of thousands of pro-government citizens took to the streets across Iran in response to calls from the Iranian government to show solidarity.

State media are broadcasting footage of huge crowds flocking to Enghelab Square in the capital, Tehran. Participants are chanting slogans such as "Death to America!", "Death to Israel!", and "Death to the enemies of God!"

New Delhi, January 12 (Xinhua) — The death toll from a fire that broke out early Monday morning in the mountainous state of Himachal Pradesh in northern India is expected to rise to 10, a local official said by telephone.

The three-story residential building, mostly made of wood, caught fire and then collapsed, trapping all 10 people inside, belonging to two different families from Nepal.

The victims were sleeping when the fire started. Among the dead were five women and one child.
