TAIYUAN, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) — China on Tuesday launched its new remote sensing satellite, Yaogan-5001, into space from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in North China's Shanxi Province.

Almaty, January 13 (Xinhua) — A tanker carrying Kazakh oil was attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles on Tuesday near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal in the Black Sea, Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG) reported.

The ship Matilda, which was attacked, was chartered by the national sea carrier Kazmortransflot, a subsidiary of KMG.

Moscow, January 13 (Xinhua) – The TAD-650 asynchronous traction motor for a Russian high-speed train has successfully passed acceptance tests, Russian Railways (RZD) reported.

Testing was conducted at the Russian Electric Motors manufacturing plant in Chelyabinsk. The 650 kW engine demonstrated high energy efficiency (up to 96 percent) despite its compact size and weight of 750 kg. A high-speed train with eight carriages requires 16 TAD-650 engines.
