Paris, February 7 (Xinhua) — France has opened a consulate in Greenland, becoming the first European Union country to maintain a diplomatic mission in the autonomous Danish territory. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this on Friday on social media.

Jean-Noël Poirier has taken up his post as Consul General in Greenland's capital Nuuk, strengthening France's consular network, the ministry announced.

Khartoum, February 7 (Xinhua) — A drone attacked a World Food Programme (WFP) convoy in Sudan's North Kordofan state. UN Resident Coordinator in Sudan Denise Brown expressed deep concern over the attack.

Aden, Yemen, February 7 (Xinhua) — Yemen's Presidential Governance Council (PGC) announced on Friday the formation of a new government led by Prime Minister Shaya Mohsen al-Zindani, the state-run Saba news agency reported.

The decree approving the new 35-minister cabinet was released weeks after the resignation of Salem Saleh bin Breik's government, which occurred amid deep divisions within Yemen's internationally recognized leadership.
