WENCHANG, Hainan Province, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) — China on Wednesday successfully completed its first offshore search and recovery mission for a spacecraft's return module, the China Manned Space Administration (CMSA) said.

China's new-generation manned spacecraft, the Mengzhou Dream Boat, successfully completed a maximum dynamic pressure test and landed safely in the ocean on Wednesday, according to the CMSA.

This operation was carried out during flight tests of the Long March-10 launch vehicle systems at low altitude, as well as the Mengzhou spacecraft systems at maximum dynamic pressure.

At 12:20 Beijing time, the marine search and rescue team completed the mission to find and retrieve the Mengzhou reentry module, accumulating valuable experience for subsequent missions to use and develop the space station, as well as for landing a man on the moon.

According to the CMSA, the Mengzhou spacecraft is primarily intended for China's manned lunar program and can also be used to support the operation of the near-Earth space station. Its return module is reusable.

OTTAWA, February 11 (Xinhua) — Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed shock and sorrow on Tuesday over the mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, and pledged full federal support for the residents, according to a statement published on social media.

KABUL, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) — Afghanistan's National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) announced on Tuesday the signing of two memorandums of understanding with international humanitarian organizations to provide essential support to thousands of vulnerable families.

Agreements signed with the International Rescue Committee and Islamic Relief Worldwide provide for the allocation of over one million US dollars. OTTAWA, February 11 (Xinhua) — At least 10 people were killed in a school shooting in British Columbia, Canada, on Tuesday, including the suspected shooter, local police said.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said several other people injured in the shooting were receiving medical treatment.

Six people were found dead at Tumbler Ridge High School, another died on the way to the hospital, and the bodies of two more people were found in a nearby home, police said.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) — US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he is considering sending a second carrier strike group to the Middle East for possible military action against Iran if talks fail.

"We have an armada heading there, and we may have another one heading there," Trump said in an interview with the American news outlet Axios, noting that Washington is considering additional military deployments while continuing diplomatic talks with Tehran.
