WENCHANG, Hainan Province, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) — China on Wednesday successfully completed its first offshore search and recovery mission for a spacecraft's return module, the China Manned Space Administration (CMSA) said.

China's new-generation manned spacecraft, the Mengzhou Dream Boat, successfully completed a maximum dynamic pressure test and landed safely in the ocean on Wednesday, according to the CMSA.

This operation was carried out during flight tests of the Long March-10 launch vehicle systems at low altitude, as well as the Mengzhou spacecraft systems at maximum dynamic pressure.

At 12:20 Beijing time, the marine search and rescue team completed the mission to find and retrieve the Mengzhou reentry module, accumulating valuable experience for subsequent missions to use and develop the space station, as well as for landing a man on the moon.

According to the CMSA, the Mengzhou spacecraft is primarily intended for China's manned lunar program and can also be used to support the operation of the near-Earth space station. Its return module is reusable.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) — US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he is considering sending a second carrier strike group to the Middle East for possible military action against Iran if talks fail.

"We have an armada heading there, and we may have another one heading there," Trump said in an interview with the American news outlet Axios, noting that Washington is considering additional military deployments while continuing diplomatic talks with Tehran.

“Either we make a deal, or we’ll have to take tough measures like last time,” Trump said, adding that another aircraft carrier “may be sent” to the region.

The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and several guided-missile destroyers are already deployed to the Middle East.

The United States and Iran held talks last week in Oman, and both sides agreed to continue negotiations. The date and location of the next round of US-Iranian talks have not yet been announced.

Expressing optimism about the diplomatic process, he said Iran was "very keen to make a deal" and that any agreement must cover Iran's nuclear program as well as its ballistic missile stockpile.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to visit Washington on Wednesday. Trump said he believes Netanyahu isn't nervous about the US-Iran negotiations. "He also wants a deal. He wants a good deal," the American president added.

NEW YORK, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) — U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick admitted on Tuesday that he and his family dined with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein on the latter's private island in 2012.

"I actually had lunch with him while I was on a boat on vacation with my family," Mr. Latnick said during a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing on Tuesday. "And we dined on the island, it's true, for an hour."

"I had no relationship with him. I had almost nothing in common with this man," he said in his testimony.

Previously, G. Latnik claimed to have cut off contact with J. Epstein in 2005. However, the latest documents about J. Epstein, released by the US Department of Justice in January, revealed that he and J. Epstein maintained contact years later. According to local media reports, they had a business relationship as early as 2014.

Now, G. Latnik is under pressure from both Democrats and some Republicans demanding his resignation.

In 2008, J. Epstein pleaded guilty to state charges of soliciting a minor for prostitution. In July 2019, he was arrested again on federal sex trafficking charges and committed suicide in jail on August 10, 2019, before his trial could begin.

(Bingwu is the 43rd year of the 60-year cycle, the Year of the Horse.)

Some of the works will reportedly be featured as a key component of a themed exhibition dedicated to the Year of the Horse at the Tianjin Museum and will be on display free of charge to the public during the Spring Festival.
