Islamabad, February 26 (Xinhua) — Up to 34 terrorists were killed in a series of intelligence-driven operations by security forces in Pakistan, the country's armed forces' Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

According to the statement, 26 terrorists were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwest Pakistan, while another eight militants were killed in a clash in Balochistan province in the southwest of the country.

The slain terrorists were actively involved in numerous terror attacks in the country and arms and ammunition were recovered from them, the ISPR said, adding that operations were underway to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.

Rio de Janeiro, February 26 (Xinhua) — The death toll from torrential rains in the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais has risen to 46, with 21 more people missing, official figures were released Wednesday.

Forty of the victims lived in the hardest-hit city of Juiz de Fora, and six in the neighboring municipality of Ubá. Authorities say 19 people are missing in Juiz de Fora, and two more are missing in Ubá.

Around 3,000 people in Juiz de Fora and 26,000 in Ube were left homeless. In addition, 400 and 178 residents in these two towns, respectively, were evacuated due to the risk of landslides and flooding.

Washington, February 26 (Xinhua) — US Special Presidential Envoy Steven Witkoff said the Donald Trump administration is demanding that Iran agree to an indefinite term for any future nuclear agreement, the online portal Axios reported on Wednesday.

BEIJING, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) — Chinese courts have completed trials of two major criminal groups based in northern Myanmar and involved in telecommunications and internet fraud, the Supreme People's Court said Thursday.

As announced at a press conference organized by the Supreme Court, by the end of 2025, courts across China had heard more than 27,000 cases related to fraud in northern Myanmar at first instance, and more than 41,000 repatriated suspects had been convicted.

Trials against two of the four largest criminal groups—the Min and Bai families—have been fully completed. A total of 39 people were sentenced to life imprisonment or harsher punishments, including 16 death sentences. Havana, February 25 (Xinhua) — Four people were killed and six others wounded in a shootout on a U.S.-flagged speedboat discovered in Cuban territorial waters on Wednesday morning, the Cuban Interior Ministry reported.

The ministry said in a statement that the vessel, with the US registration number FL7726SH and registered in Florida, was found illegally sailing approximately one nautical mile northeast of the El Pino Channel in the central province of Villa Clara.

When a ministry border patrol boat approached to identify the vessel, its passengers opened fire on Cuban soldiers. The attack wounded the Cuban vessel's commander, the report said.

As a result of the collision, four people on board the offending vessel were killed and six others were injured, according to the report. The injured were evacuated from the scene and received medical treatment.
