Jerusalem, March 30 (Xinhua) — An oil refinery in the northern Israeli city of Haifa was attacked on Monday by a rocket fired by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, Israeli authorities and media reported.
The fire broke out as a result of the impact, and a large column of black smoke rose above the object.
No leaks of hazardous substances were detected, the local fire and rescue service reported.
State television channel Kan TV news reported that the missile hit an oil tank and an industrial building.
The Israeli army confirmed that Hezbollah fired around 10 rockets before midday, triggering air raid sirens in the Haifa area and in some areas along the coast of central Israel.
Hits and damage were also reported in the towns of Shfaram and Kiryat Ata, causing temporary power outages. –0–
