BEIJING, March 31 (Xinhua) — Agricultural Bank of China, one of the country's largest state-owned commercial banks, on Monday reported growth in lending volume, profit and revenue in 2025.

The bank reported stable growth in its total funding. As of the end of last year, its total assets amounted to 48.8 trillion yuan (approximately $7.05 trillion). Specifically, total loans reached 27.13 trillion yuan, 2.23 trillion yuan more than at the beginning of the year.

The Bank provided stronger and more effective support to the real economy. Last year, the bank's net profit and operating income showed positive growth. Its net profit reached 292 billion yuan, up 3.3 percent year-on-year, while operating income increased to 725.3 billion yuan, up 2.1 percent.

BEIJING, March 31 (Xinhua) — China's manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors both expanded in March, official data showed on Tuesday, signaling a significant upturn in economic activity.

China's manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) stood at 50.4 in March 2026, up 1.4 percentage points from the previous month, according to data released Tuesday by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Ho Lihui, a statistician at the National Statistical Office, attributed the increase to the accelerated resumption of work and production at enterprises after the Spring Festival holidays, as well as increased market activity.

The manufacturing sector saw growth in both production and demand. The production and new orders sub-indices were 51.4 and 51.6, respectively, up 1.8 and 3 percentage points compared to the previous month. Notably, the sub-indices for agriculture and food processing, as well as non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling, exceeded 55.

Thanks to the recovery in production and demand, the purchase volume sub-index rose to 50.9, up 2.7 percentage points compared to the previous month.

Large enterprises demonstrated steady growth, their PMI amounted to 51.6, which is 0.1 percentage points higher month-on-month, while the PMI indicators of medium and small enterprises rose to 49 and 49.3, respectively, an increase of 1.5 and 4.5 percentage points.

Data from the National Survey of Commerce on Tuesday also showed that China's non-manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) stood at 50.1 in March, up 0.6 percentage points from February. -0-

Shenzhen, March 31 (Xinhua) — A direct passenger flight from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport in southern China's Guangdong Province to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, was launched on Monday, marking the first nonstop passenger service from the metropolis to Central Asia.

The airport administration said the route, operated by Uzbekistan Airways, is its first new international route launched this year.

The flight will operate once a week on Mondays: the plane will depart Tashkent at 1:20 local time and arrive in Shenzhen at 7:40 Beijing time, and the return flight will depart Shenzhen at 9:10 Beijing time and arrive in Tashkent at 16:20 local time.

TAIPEI, March 31 (Xinhua) — China's Kuomintang Party Chairwoman Zheng Liwen said Monday that her upcoming trip to the mainland will highlight the shared hope for peace.

Zheng Liwen will lead a delegation that will visit mainland China from April 7 to 12, with stops in Jiangsu Province and the cities of Shanghai and Beijing.
