BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhua) — A little patient from Almaty recently underwent successful Achilles tendon reconstruction surgery at the Children's Hospital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in Urumqi, the Xinjiang News Portal reported.

On June 12 this year, a married couple from Almaty with their daughter came to the medical workers of this hospital. As a result of a traffic accident that happened six months ago, the girl received serious injuries to her right leg. After the tragedy, stitches were put on the wound at the local hospital. However, due to damage to the Achilles tendon, the child's right foot gradually stopped functioning normally, and the girl could only limp.

The reconstructive microsurgery department at this hospital developed a reconstructive surgery plan for the patient and carefully carried out a series of procedures to ensure that her foot met the requirements for surgery.

On June 27, the head of the department, Tian Jingshun, and his colleagues performed surgery on the girl. The surgical treatment technique was autoplasty, which means using the patient's own tissue. Under a microscope, the doctors successfully separated a piece of tendon tissue from the girl's leg, including skin and blood vessels, and sewed it to the injured foot.

A week after the operation, it was observed that the sutured tendon had become viable, and the blood vessels and nerve tissues were functioning normally. It is expected that the girl will be able to conduct foot rehabilitation training in a month, and will return to normal walking in about three months, Tian Jingshun said.

Let us recall that this is the third case of admission of a foreign minor patient to the reconstructive microsurgery department of this hospital this year. Over the past few years, the hospital has admitted a total of more than 500 patients from Central Asian countries.

"China is a leader in the field of microsurgery. My colleagues and I are trying to meet the medical treatment needs of as many patients as possible from both Xinjiang and neighboring Central Asian countries," said Tian Jingshun. -0-

BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhua) — Blueberries from the Chinese city of Dandong in Liaoning Province (Northeast China) will soon be served on the tables of residents of the capital of Belarus for the first time.

According to the Liaoning Daily newspaper, 2 tons of blueberries from the city of Dandong recently passed customs inspection and will be delivered to Minsk via the Manzhouli road checkpoint on the Chinese-Russian border.

Dandong City is located on the Liaodong Peninsula, where the climate is moderately warm. Due to the excellent natural conditions, the city's blueberry industry has been rapidly expanding in recent years. Now the city has formed a production chain in this industry from blueberry cultivation to export.

“Dandong blueberries are in great demand in the domestic market, which prompted us to actively develop the overseas market,” said Li Xian’ao, director of one of the local trading companies.

Blueberries contain anthocyanin pigments, phenolic compounds, carotenoids, tannins, organic acids and vitamins. In folk medicine, blueberries are used as a fixative for children's stomach upset, and for inflammation of the mouth and throat. Blueberries are considered one of the best sources of phytonutrients with antioxidant action, they are used to prevent and treat cardiovascular diseases, dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Fruit extracts improve visual acuity and eye accommodation.

According to statistics, in 2024, the total area of blueberry cultivation in China exceeded 73 thousand hectares. Thus, China has become one of the countries with the fastest growth rate of production of these nutritious berries. -0-

BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhua) — A total of 113,000 trucks crossed the Manzhouli checkpoint on China's border with Russia in the first half of this year, the Zhongxinshe News Agency reported.

In the period from January to June this year, the volume of freight transported via the road through this checkpoint reached a record level of 1.167 million tons, an increase of 6 percent year-on-year.

The Manzhouli checkpoint in the city of the same name in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region borders Russia's Zabaikalsky Krai. The growth in cargo turnover through it indicates a good trend in the development of the country's foreign trade, the agency reports.

Currently, the road checkpoint is used to transport mainly liquefied petroleum gases to China, and fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as other types of agricultural products, from China.

In order to maximize the throughput capacity of the border crossing point, the local customs service has taken various measures to reduce the time required to pass customs control. -0-

The One China Principle Is Unshakable – Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui

Moscow, July 11 /Xinhua/ — Resolution 2758 on the restoration of the legitimate rights of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations, adopted on October 25, 1971 at the 26th session of the UN General Assembly, is indisputable, and the one-China principle is unshakable. This was stated by the Ambassador of the PRC to the Russian Federation Zhang Hanhui in an opinion article published on Friday in the Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

“This resolution has finally resolved the issue of representation of a single China, including Taiwan, in the UN in political, legal and procedural terms, and has completely ruled out the possibility of creating ‘two Chinas’ or ‘one China and one Taiwan.’ This is an important victory for the diplomacy of the new China and world justice, as well as a significant milestone in the history of the United Nations,” the publication says.

As the Chinese ambassador pointed out, the restoration of China’s legitimate rights in the UN marked the return of the Chinese people, who constitute a quarter of the world’s population, to the UN stage, which is the core of the post-war world order. This event had significant and far-reaching significance for both China and the world. “Any attempt to challenge UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 is not only a provocation against China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, but also a challenge to the authority of the UN and the post-war world order. It is an absurd and dangerous act that clearly reverses historical progress,” the article notes.

Zhang Hanhui stressed that the one-China principle is a universally recognized consensus of the international community and the basic norm of international relations, and is not subject to any challenges or distortions. “The Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the whole of China. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. More than 180 countries, including the United States, have established diplomatic relations with China based on the one-China principle,” he recalled, adding that the UN and its specialized agencies have consistently followed the one-China principle on the Taiwan issue, clearly reaffirming Taiwan’s non-sovereign status and treating it as a province of China.

The Chinese ambassador noted that today some countries, led by the United States, are deliberately distorting and challenging UN General Assembly Resolution 2758, seeking to promote the false claim of the so-called “undefined status of Taiwan.” Zhang Hanhui is confident that their goal is to advance the strategy of “using Taiwan to contain China,” preventing China from achieving complete unification and national revival. According to him, this is another manifestation of unilateralism and power politics, a clear violation of the fundamental norms of international relations, once again demonstrating the double standards of the United States and a number of other countries with respect to such important principles as state sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.

Zhang Hanhui said it was unacceptable to perceive Taiwan as an independent state or political entity, to conduct official contacts with it in any form, and even more so to replace the one-China principle with their alleged “one-China policies.” “Otherwise, their actions will be regarded as erosion and devastation of this fundamental principle, and gross interference in China’s internal affairs, which seriously damage the political mutual trust between China and the relevant countries, and undermine the political foundation of bilateral relations,” the Chinese diplomat warned, adding that playing the “Taiwan card” and the desire to “contain China through Taiwan” are doomed to failure, and separatist actions of “Taiwan independence” are playing with fire.

The article emphasizes that the Russian side clearly opposes any form of "Taiwan independence" and resolutely supports the Chinese side in protecting sovereignty and territorial integrity and achieving the unification of the country. "The Chinese side highly appreciates the position of the Russian side and will continue to firmly support Russia's efforts to protect national security and stability, ensure development and prosperity, sovereignty and territorial integrity," the Chinese diplomat noted.

Zhang Hanhui recalled that the current year marks the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's Victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Great Patriotic War and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN. Taiwan's return to China is an important component of the outcome of World War II and the post-war world order.

"As the leading forces of peace and development, China and Russia are willing to jointly advance the implementation of the important agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries, jointly uphold the correct understanding of the history of World War II, firmly defend its results and the post-war international order. The two sides will continue to deepen strategic interaction and expand mutually beneficial cooperation so as to make greater contributions to achieving the revival and development of China and Russia and promoting global prosperity and stability," the Chinese Ambassador to the Russian Federation concluded. -0-
