COLOMBO, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — Special guards have been deployed to the National Hospital in Colombo where former President Ranil Wickramasinghe is undergoing treatment after being remanded in custody on Friday, a Prisons Department official said on Monday.

Seven prison officers and four guards have been deployed to ensure R. Wickramasinghe's safety, prison spokesman Jagath Weerasinghe said.

R. Wickramasinghe was arrested and remanded in custody on charges of misappropriation of public funds. He was initially admitted to the prison hospital and later transferred to the National Hospital in Colombo.

HONG KONG, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — Chinese real estate developer China Evergrande Group officially delisted from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Aug. 25.

Earlier, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange announced that China Evergrande Group's status as a listed company would be revoked as of 09:00 on August 25.

Astana, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — In Kazakhstan, trade volume increased by 8.6 percent in January-July 2025. Investments in the trade sector in the first half of the year grew by 37 percent, reaching 438 billion tenge, Kazinform reported on Monday, citing the country's government.

According to Kazinform, in the message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev “Fair Kazakhstan: law and order, economic growth, public optimism” the development of trade and expansion of the country’s export potential are named as the most important areas of state policy. BEIJING, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — A project to build a China-Russia express train control and distribution center is being accelerated in the Manzhouli Comprehensive Bonded Zone in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which will help improve the efficiency of the Manzhouli checkpoint, according to a statement posted on the website of the city's mayor's office.

The 12th dance festival of the NCIT, also known as the National Grand Theatre of China, will be held from September 20 to December 7 this year.
