Beirut, April 2 (Xinhua) — At least 14 people were killed on Wednesday in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, the country's National News Agency reported.

At the same time, the Hezbollah movement said its militants attacked several Israeli targets, groups of Israeli soldiers and military vehicles using missiles, drones and artillery shells.

Lebanon's Minister of the Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad al-Hajar, said the country is being subjected to devastating Israeli attacks as part of a war imposed on it. He expressed hope for support from Arab countries and the international community to end the conflict and facilitate the Lebanese government's decision to extend its authority throughout the country using its own forces.

Lebanon's Health Ministry said in a daily report that the death toll since March 2 has reached 1,318, with another 3,935 injured.

Fighting between Hezbollah and Israel has been ongoing in the Lebanese-Israeli border area since March 2. For the first time since the ceasefire took effect on November 27, 2024, the movement fired rockets at Israel. Israel responded with intensified airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon.

Beijing, April 2 (Xinhua) — A Russian vessel carrying 190 tons of live king crabs safely arrived at the Chinese port of Ningbo-Zhoushan (Zhejiang Province, eastern China) after a long voyage, setting a new record for the largest cargo capacity of a single vessel in the port's king crab import operations, the Zhongguo Xinwenshe news agency reported Wednesday.

As a fresh seafood product with a high price tag, the Kamchatka crab has strict habitat requirements. Its lifespan after harvesting from its native marine environment is extremely short. Customs clearance times directly determine the survival rate and market value of this product.

Taking these factors into account, and taking into account the specific cold chain transportation characteristics of king crabs and the corresponding needs of industry enterprises, Zhoushan Port has continued to optimize the customs clearance process by implementing a targeted program based on the “one vessel, one policy” principle, guaranteeing 24/7 customs clearance of cargo, and has also opened a “green corridor” for the import of fresh aquatic products.

Upon completion of border and customs clearance procedures, the unloading of this batch of king crabs began immediately. After sorting, weighing, and loading onto cold-chain transport, this seafood delicacy will be immediately dispatched to major cities across the country, such as Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou, and delivered to major markets and catering establishments nationwide on the same day.

As a key hub of the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, the Port of Ningbo–Zhoushan continues to expand its global reach. According to the port authority, cargo throughput at Ningbo–Zhoushan Port exceeded 1.4 billion tonnes in 2025, ranking first in the world for the 17th consecutive year.

According to the aforementioned news agency, imports of king crab through the Zhoushan port have increased significantly since the beginning of this year. In the first quarter of 2026, 22 vessels arrived at the port and unloaded approximately 1,300 tons of king crab, more than double the amount in the same period in 2025. More than 60 vessels are expected to arrive at the port this year, bringing the total volume of live king crab imported from Russia to over 2,000 tons.

Beijing, April 2 (Xinhua) — The Osipov National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Russia and the Central Folk Instruments Orchestra of China will perform together on Thursday at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing.

A joint concert by Russian and Chinese folk instrument orchestras was included as the opening concert of the third "Spring of National Music" festival. In addition to performing with the Chinese orchestra, the N. P. Osipov ensemble will also give concerts in two locations from April 4th to 5th: the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) Concert Hall and its Beijing Performing Arts Center.

The gala concert will feature performances of famous Russian folk melodies and works by Russian composers inspired by Russian national music. For example, the Young Soloists' Ensemble of the Orchestra will perform the famous song "I Look into the Blue Lakes" in an arrangement for ensemble, Anatoly Lyadov's classic Russian music "Round Dance," and many other works. It will also feature classical Chinese works, such as "Yuzhou Changwan /The Fishing Boat Sings in the Evening/," "Yuda Bajiao /Rain Lashes on Banana Leaves/," and works arranged for combined orchestra, including "He Ming /Harmony of Sounds/," "Liang Xiao /Beautiful Night/," "Peddlers," and others.

The fantasy "Harmony of Sounds" is particularly noteworthy, combining the Chinese "Song of Horse Grazing" and the Russian classic "Moscow Nights." As Meng Xiao, pipa player with the Central Folk Orchestra of China, explained, "Harmony of Sounds" is not simply a combination of Chinese and Russian classical music, but a mutual listening and fusion. We hope that people will hear different musical voices in it and also feel our deep emotional connection and friendship.

"We understand Chinese culture through folk melodies," shared Vladimir Andropov, conductor of the Russian orchestra and People's Artist of Russia and laureate of the Russian Government Prize. Citing the renowned Russian composer Glinka's assertion that the people create melodies, while composers merely arrange and arrange them, he noted that folk music plays a vital role in the cultural dialogue between countries, and the N. P. Osipov Orchestra, which he directs, actively explores folk themes.

The joint concert of national orchestras will not only present the capital's audience with an unusual sound; during rehearsals, Russian and Chinese musicians will interact and try out each other's instruments. This interesting interplay of culture and instrumentation is a valuable creative interaction, noted Vladimir Andropov.

"When cultures intersect, a true dialogue emerges: I speak Russian, the language of music, and you respond in Chinese. This is the most precious moment. What I love most is this interaction with the musicians on stage. This is what I look forward to," balalaika player and soloist with the N. P. Osipov Orchestra Alexander Nikolaychuk told Xinhua ahead of the joint concert.

"We've known the Russian musicians of the N. P. Osipov Orchestra for many years, and we're also well acquainted with Russian music, as many of our country's musicians studied in Russia and returned home. Language can sometimes be a barrier, but we communicate through music—and our souls find complete understanding," shared Li Chao, deputy concertmaster of the Central Folk Instruments Orchestra of China and huqin player.

Founded in 1919, the N. P. Osipov National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Russia is one of the oldest orchestras in Russia and is considered a national treasure and a hallmark of its culture. The Central Orchestra of Folk Instruments of China, founded in 1960 at the initiative of Premier Zhou Enlai, is recognized as the largest folk instrument orchestra in China.

Let us recall that in January-February 2025, the Russian orchestra also performed five concerts in Beijing during the Spring Festival holidays (Chinese New Year), as well as in May 2024 at the opening ceremony of the China-Russia Cross Years of Culture and a special concert dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. -0-

BEIJING, April 2 (Xinhua) — The recently launched Qingzhou cargo test spacecraft will be followed by a final version that will dock with the Chinese space station and deliver cargo, according to the Innovation Academy of Microsatellite Systems (IAMCAS) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The test vehicle was launched by a Lijian-2 Y1 carrier rocket on Monday from the Commercial Space Innovation Pilot Zone in northwest China and was successfully placed into the designated orbit.

The IAMCAS-developed test vehicle weighs 4.2 tons, is compatible with various launch vehicle types, and is easily adaptable for launch. During the test flight, Qingzhou will conduct tests, including technological reserve testing, in-orbit verification, and scientific research, across 27 projects with a total payload of 1.02 tons. These tests will be conducted at altitudes ranging from 200 to 600 km.

The test spacecraft consists of a main pressurized compartment and an unpressurized tail section. The main compartment contains 40 cargo compartments with a total volume of 27 cubic meters, which can carry astronaut essentials, equipment for scientific experiments, and research payloads.

A unique feature of the Qingzhou is its ability to accommodate a 300-liter refrigerator, consisting of five 60-liter refrigeration chambers, which will provide storage conditions for astronauts' daily necessities, as well as samples for biological experiments that require low-temperature storage.

The unpressurized tail section is designed to accommodate and transport other cargo, as well as additional payload and equipment necessary for conducting experiments in space conditions, which in turn allows for the maximum use of the Qingzhou's cargo capacity. -0-

Shandong-based Taiwo Agricultural Equipment is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the production and sale of agricultural machinery, particularly tractors. Since its founding in 2021, the company has rapidly gained international market share thanks to its high-quality products and the production of customized parts.

Currently, the company's export share accounts for more than 80% of total sales, with products supplied to more than 100 countries and regions worldwide, including Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, and Chile.

Shandong is one of China's largest agricultural provinces, also boasting the most powerful production facilities and the most comprehensive range of agricultural machinery. It boasts significant advantages in the form of industrial clusters, and its production volume accounts for approximately a quarter of the national total.

In recent years, agricultural machinery exports from China have grown rapidly, with increasing volumes of this equipment being exported. According to data, in 2025, agricultural machinery exports from China will reach 67.419 billion yuan, a 32.3% increase from the previous year.

Why is Chinese agricultural machinery so popular? According to industry insiders, as global agricultural modernization accelerates, demand for agricultural machinery in developing countries is steadily growing, with high-efficiency, intelligent, and adaptable models in particular demand. More importantly, the Chinese agricultural machinery industry has made significant strides in technological innovation, resulting in continuous improvements in product functionality and performance.

China places great emphasis on strengthening innovation in agricultural technology and equipment, as well as developing new productive forces in agriculture. The 15th Five-Year Plan outlines the need to implement measures to ensure high-quality agricultural machinery and promote efficiency gains through the comprehensive use of fertile land, high-quality seeds, modern equipment, and advanced farming methods.

Along with the continuous improvement of the technological advancement of Chinese agricultural machinery, the range of products is also constantly expanding, demonstrating high adaptability and diversity, which can meet the needs of different regions and various applications.

In recent years, Chinese agricultural machinery has increasingly shifted from being a "product export" to a "full-service international marketplace." According to Zhang Qi, sales manager at Shandong Shuangli Modern Agricultural Equipment Co., Ltd., the company's tractors have become popular in regions such as Africa and South America. "We've established a network of sales and service outlets in many countries and provide training to local technicians to ensure efficient use and convenient on-site repairs. At the same time, we're constantly improving our products to address local specifics, ensuring 'local adaptation,'" Zhang Qi said.

Xeme Airlines has signed a major contract with a Kazakhstani farm for crop protection services in 2 million mu of cotton fields, worth approximately 6 million yuan. The contract covers not only the sale of agricultural drones but also comprehensive solutions, including hardware and software, pilot training, and personnel management.

Industry experts believe that agricultural machinery exports from China are demonstrating new trends: steady growth in volumes, ongoing optimization of the structure, and diversification of sales markets. In the future, as globalization deepens, the Chinese agricultural machinery market, constantly innovating and improving, will expand into new areas thanks to a more developed spare parts supply network, a more professional training system, and improved service.
