The last month of the year was very eventful for the participants of the PoliShkola project.

Young technology leaders from Polytechnic University visited Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The purpose of the internship was to exchange experiences in organizing scientific and educational activities, study best project management practices, and identify promising areas for joint research and projects.

During the meetings, special attention was paid to BMSTU's comprehensive programs for working with faculty and researchers. Colleagues shared their experiences supporting young professionals, including, for example, methodological support for obtaining candidate and doctoral degrees. The polytechnics were also introduced to and invited to join the unified "Practice Showcase" developed by BMSTU as part of the "Priority 2030" program—a platform designed to share best practices among the country's leading universities.

The visit also included a visit to key laboratory and research centers of MSTU:

The Aurora Mobile Platform laboratory, where development work on the domestic operating system is underway, including the creation of secure applications and specialized software. Colleagues showcased student achievements and discussed monetization and market interactions; the Cybersecurity Monitoring Center (SOC), organized according to a full-cycle principle: from educational programs and scientific research to commercial services and expert support for partners. Internship participants noted the effective model of collaboration with an industrial partner and the involvement of students in real-world projects, starting from their junior years; the Polymer Materials Laboratory, which specializes in the creation of new compounds for additive technologies. SPbPU specialists observed the operation of cutting-edge installations in real time and also received expert advice on developing their own developments in membrane water purification; and the Industrial Internet of Things in Digital Manufacturing laboratory, which includes the Flexible Manufacturing Cell—a simulator for acquiring in-demand practical skills in industrial robotics. Colleagues highlighted the operating features of the devices and the details of collaboration with enterprises.

Following the visit, the partners outlined specific areas for further collaboration, including organizing a return visit by representatives from Bauman Moscow State Technical University to the Polytechnic University, sharing best practices in the development of research and teaching staff, and exploring opportunities for joint research projects in cybersecurity, new materials, and robotics.

Participants praised the tour's informative and dynamic nature. The Polytechnic students were particularly impressed by the university campus, with its interesting architectural designs and well-thought-out navigation, high-tech labs, spacious classrooms, and stylish coworking areas.

The PoliSchool program concluded with the final defense of the teams' projects.

The work was evaluated by Alexey Borovkov, Chief Designer of the Scientific and Technological Program "System Digital Engineering," Lyudmila Pankova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Maria Vrublevskaya, Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Oleg Rozhdestvensky, Head of the Office of Technological Leadership, Marina Bolsunovskaya, a representative of the "Artificial Intelligence for Cross-Industry Problem Solving" program, and Oleg Panchenko, a representative of the "Materials, Technologies, and Production" program.

Following the opening remarks by PoliShkola project mentor Maria Vrublevskaya, the presentation session began. For two hours, ten student teams presented the results of their work.

Participants presented projects covering cutting-edge fields of science and technology: medicine and biotechnology, artificial intelligence, robotics, electronics, and education. Each project had a clearly applied nature and was aimed at solving specific technological or social problems.

The level of sophistication and the promise of the solutions we saw today are directly in line with the spirit of PolySchool—a practical leadership school for young people with initiative. Participants don't just propose ideas; they create working prototypes and consider the logic behind their implementation, noted Maria Vrublevskaya.

Interesting projects reached the PolySchool finals. The students demonstrated their commitment and desire to contribute to achieving the country's technological leadership. Much work remains, especially in terms of creating in-demand products from the solutions and technologies developed. I wish everyone good luck and strength to complete this journey," concluded Oleg Rozhdestvensky.

At the end of the defense, all participants were presented with commemorative gifts.

Moscow, December 19 /Xinhua/ — Russia's GDP growth in 2025 will be 1 percent, and over three years, 9.7 percent, which is significantly higher than in Europe. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday during a direct line-in broadcast and press conference.

"What happened in our economy over the past year? GDP growth is 1 percent, but if we take the last three years into account, that's also quite accurate, with overall growth being 9.7 percent. Meanwhile, growth in the eurozone was 3.1 percent," he noted.

According to the Russian leader, the slowdown in Russia's GDP growth is a deliberate price to pay for maintaining the quality of the economy and macroeconomic indicators. "As for the economic growth rate this year, these are deliberate actions by the government, the Central Bank, and the entire country's leadership related to inflation targeting," he clarified.

Vladimir Putin emphasized that, overall, the goal of reducing inflation is being achieved. "The goal was to reduce inflation to at least 6 percent. But, judging by everything, by the end of the year it will be below 6 percent—5.7-5.8 percent," he said.

The Russian head of state also noted that the unemployment rate in Russia, which was already at a record low, has fallen even lower. "Last year's unemployment rate, as we said, was at a historically low level—2.5 percent. This year, it's even lower—2.2 percent," Putin cited the data, adding that these are very good figures.

Moscow, December 19 /Xinhua/ — The European Union's attempts to seize Russian assets are not even theft, but robbery, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at the "Year in Review" conference.

"Theft is an inappropriate definition. Theft is the secret theft of property. But here they're trying to do it openly. It's robbery," Vladimir Putin said.

If Europe seizes its assets, Russia will defend itself in the courts and try to find a jurisdiction that is independent of political decisions, he warned.

"We will defend our interests. Where? First and foremost, in the courts. We will try to find a jurisdiction that is independent of political decisions," the Russian leader said.

According to him, if Russian assets are confiscated, Europe will suffer not only image and direct financial losses, but will also have to eventually give up what it steals.

"This isn't just a blow to our image; it's a dent in trust, in this case, in the eurozone. Because, of course, many countries keep their gold and foreign exchange reserves in the eurozone, not just Russia, but also those with spare resources," the Russian president said.

"Besides the image loss, there could be direct losses related to the fundamental foundations of the modern financial world order. And most importantly: whatever they stole and however they did it, they'll have to pay it back someday," Putin pointed out.

Kyiv, December 19 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the European Union on social media on Friday for its decision to allocate 90 billion euros in financial assistance to the country in 2026-2027.

He called the funds "significant support" that would strengthen Ukraine's resilience.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced earlier on Friday that EU leaders had reached an agreement on financial support for Kyiv in 2026-2027. He stated that Ukraine would receive an interest-free loan of €90 billion, which it would only have to repay after Russia pays reparations. Brussels also decided to immobilize Russian sovereign assets until Moscow reimburses Kyiv for its losses.

UN, December 19 /Xinhua/ — Japan, as a country that lost World War II, must deeply reflect on its historical crimes, honor its political commitments on the Taiwan issue, and renounce its erroneous statements, China's Permanent Representative to the UN, Fu Tsung, said on Thursday.

Speaking at a high-level plenary session of the UN General Assembly dedicated to the first International Day against Colonialism in All Its Forms and Manifestations, Fu Cong noted that the world has not yet emerged from the shadow of colonialism, despite the end of colonial occupation and the collapse of the colonial system.

The Chinese diplomat called on the international community to resolutely oppose any statements or actions that challenge or undermine the post-war international order.

"The history of the World Anti-Fascist War teaches us that peace must be sought and defended," Fu Tsung said. He recalled that during World War II, the Japanese aggressors committed countless crimes and atrocities in Taiwan.

“We must never allow the denial or distortion of the history of aggression, the revival of militarism, or the repetition of historical tragedies,” said China’s Permanent Representative to the UN. –0–

Beijing, December 19 (Xinhua) — China calls on Japan to stop probing the "red lines" of international justice with its nuclear ambitions, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a regular press conference on Friday.

This is how the Chinese diplomat commented on recent statements by a high-ranking Japanese official that Japan should possess nuclear weapons.

Such statements recently made in Japan reflect the growing ambitions of the country's right-wing conservative forces, who want to revive militarism, get rid of the constraints of the international order, and accelerate the "remilitarization" of the country, Guo Jiakun emphasized. -0-

BEIJING, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) — China has expressed strong dissatisfaction and resolute protest to the United States and made serious representations to the American side regarding its national defense bill for the 2026 fiscal year, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular ministry press conference on Friday.

According to the diplomat, this bill exaggerates the Chinese threat, interferes in China's internal affairs, and undermines the country's sovereignty, security, and development interests.
