BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) — China's state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and state-owned holding companies (SOEs) posted generally stable performance in the first 11 months of 2025, with gross revenue up slightly and profits down modestly compared with the same period in 2024, according to data released by the Ministry of Finance on Monday.

The combined operating income of these enterprises for the January-November period reached 75.63 trillion yuan (about $10.8 trillion), up 1 percent year-on-year.

Their total profit during this period was nearly 3.72 trillion yuan, down 3.1 percent year-on-year.

Pyongyang, December 30 (Xinhua) — North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited a major defense industry facility on Sunday to inspect its weapons and military equipment production, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Tuesday.

It is noted that Kim Jong-un was informed about the production of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), which will be equipped with the main units of the Korean People's Army (KPA).

Golubac, Serbia, December 30, Xinhua — Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić inspected the construction of the Danube Corridor high-speed highway in the east of the country on Monday. He said the project is progressing well and is scheduled for completion in 2026.

The road being built by a Chinese company will significantly improve transport links along the Danube and support the economic development of eastern Serbia, the president noted, expressing satisfaction with the quality of construction and confidence in Chinese workers.

Calling the project a "great boost" for the region, A. Vučić said the new highway will help attract investment, promote tourism, and increase the attractiveness of this less-developed region. "This is a strong incentive for people to return. Quite a few people are already returning," he noted.

“I want to thank our Chinese friends for their sincere friendship, because with their enormous support, we are building and improving Serbia,” the head of state said.

Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming said the project has a far-reaching impact on Serbia's development. According to the diplomat, it has become "a crystallization of the wisdom of the peoples and companies of both countries."

The 68-kilometer "Danube Corridor" connects the Braničevo District in eastern Serbia with Belgrade and the E75 international highway. A 31.85-kilometer section of the route opened to traffic in February 2025, with work on the remaining sections ongoing.

CHENGDU, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) — A new giant panda conservation base designed to promote breeding, research and international communication opened to the public on a trial basis in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Monday.

The Mianyang base, covering approximately 120 hectares, is the fifth project of the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center. On its first day of opening, nearly 6,300 tourists visited, according to the base's administration.

The base opened in early November of this year and is now home to 20 giant pandas, ranging in age from juveniles to elderly individuals. These 20 giant pandas have already successfully completed the adaptation period, and their health is considered good, according to the base's administration.

The base, with its lush landscape of valleys surrounded by mountains, mimics a wild habitat, and artificial structures for housing giant pandas have been built within its grounds. A total of 54 enclosures are designed for various uses, including breeding, raising cubs, exhibiting adult specimens, and disease control.

The base also uses smart technologies such as intelligent safety warning systems, temperature and humidity control, and a light disinfection system to boost immunity.

Known as the birthplace of the giant panda, Sichuan Province boasts the world's largest panda population. More than 70 percent of China's wild giant pandas live in the province, and Mianyang has the highest number of wild pandas among all Chinese prefectural-level cities.

The conservation of giant pandas exemplifies China's efforts to promote ecological civilization. Thanks to their ongoing protection efforts, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) upgraded the species' status from "endangered" to "vulnerable" in 2016. JIUQUAN, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) — China successfully launched a new satellite into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on Tuesday.

The Tianhui-7 satellite was launched at 12:12 PM Beijing Time aboard a Long March-4B launch vehicle. The satellite successfully entered its designated orbit.

The Tianhui-7 satellite is mainly designed for mapping geological information, land resource census, and conducting scientific experiments and research.

Changchun, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) — As of Dec. 29, the passenger flow in both directions through the Hunchun checkpoint on the China-Russia border in Northeast China's Jilin Province exceeded 700,000 people, hitting a new all-time high, according to the local border control agency.

Over the same period, the volume of goods imported and exported through the Hunchun checkpoint increased by 38.1 percent year-on-year, while the number of vehicles crossing the border increased by 28.4 percent.

As the only land border crossing on the Chinese-Russian border in Jilin Province, the Hunchun checkpoint is connected to Vladivostok, Zarubino, Posyet, and other Russian towns by direct transport. Since the introduction of a mutual visa-free regime between China and Russia, there has been a significant increase in passenger traffic through this checkpoint.
