Restoration of the white-stone decor adorning the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Kozhevniki has begun. The church, which has the status of a cultural heritage site of federal significance, is located at 2nd Kozhevnichesky Lane, Building 6.

"The Trinity Church in Kozhevniki is a striking example of Moscow Baroque. The entrances to the northern and southern facades are framed by carved white-stone portals with twisted columns. The history of the temple is closely connected with the famous Russian merchants Bakhrushins, who generously donated to its maintenance. Thanks to them, the interiors of the church received a rich decoration. Currently, the facades of this beautiful architectural monument are being restored. Specialists are carrying out work on repairing the brickwork and cleaning the white-stone details: Corinthian columns, cornices, arched pediments with bas-relief images, molded friezes, belts, inserts, angel heads. Also, restorers-sculptors have begun to restore the lost white-stone details on the facade of the bell tower," said the head of the capital's Department of Cultural Heritage.

The restoration of the architectural monument began in 2024. Specialists completed the gilding of the crosses, domes and dormer windows of the church, and also put the roof of the bell tower in order. Now the facades, as well as the brickwork in the bell tier, have already been cleared of late layers of plaster and paint. It is necessary to restore the wooden beams and the bell tier, cornices and window sills of the bell tower, as well as to manufacture and install window units.

All work is carried out on the basis of an agreed project, an issued permit and under the supervision of experts from the capital Department of Cultural Heritage.

The parish church on the territory of Kozhevennaya Sloboda already existed in the first half of the 17th century. Presumably, the author of the bell tower project was Ivan Zarudny, a famous architect, sculptor, painter and stone carver.

Subsequently, the church was repeatedly rebuilt. Thus, a refectory with two side chapels appeared between the bell tower and the quadrangle, and in the period from 1767 to 1772, the construction of the bell tower gallery was carried out. The Moscow fire of 1812 practically did not affect the church, it was slightly burned.

The bell tower, which previously visually complemented the development of the Kozhevnaya Sloboda, is decorated with stucco decoration typical of the mid-18th century Baroque: garlands, angel heads, volutes. At the base of the octagon there is a closed gallery.

The unique features of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity are the roofs and domes with crosses from the 18th–19th centuries, as well as the interiors, the design of which includes stucco decoration of the walls and ceilings with figured panels, cartouches, consoles in the gallery and in the octagon of the bell tower with the chapel of Michael the Archangel.

In the 18th – early 19th centuries, a large plot of land located near the church and belonging to it was almost completely built up: factory buildings were erected near the church, and in the 1930s, a school building. In 1935, the church was closed. In the following years, warehouses and residential premises were located here, and then workshops of the All-Union Production Scientific Restoration Plant of the USSR Ministry of Culture.

For the first time in the history of Moscow cycling festivals, two night cycling festivals are being held this year. The first one, which took place on July 5, attracted a record number of participants – 45 thousand people.

Registration for the second night cycling festival, which will take place on August 2, is already open. For the first time, the night ride will take place along the Garden Ring. The festival town will open on Zubovskaya Square at 20:00. The entrance is from Bolshaya Pirogovskaya Street. The races will take place at 21:00, 22:00 and 23:00. Participants can choose a convenient time when registering.

For the eighth time, the main exhibition of our country is hosting the International Arts Festival "Inspiration". This year, visitors will enjoy an expanded music program, as well as many theater productions, immersive shows, and performances by artists from Russia, Armenia, Egypt, India, Iran, Italy, China, and Turkey. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required for certain events. The program of festival events at outdoor venues may change depending on weather conditions. Spectators should monitor the weather forecast and dress accordingly.

The impressive "Statue Opera" project was prepared by VDNKh especially for the festival. On July 23 and 24 at 9:30 p.m. on the Central Alley in front of the Lenin monument, a street performance by the Italian circus company Cubo will take place. The colorful show will unfold inside and outside a cube-shaped structure suspended from a crane.

On July 25 and 26 at 17:00 and 21:00 in the foyer of the House of Culture you can see the plastic performance "E" by the group from Yerevan. In 2025, almost 1,200 houses built according to standard series will undergo major repairs in the capital. The progress and features of these works were reported by the Moscow City Economy Complex.

Crowning cornice and interfloor belt made of brick

One of the buildings undergoing renovation is located at 5th Voykovsky Proezd, Building 10. The five-story building was erected in 1959 according to a standard series project. It has a simple plan. The entrance vestibules are highlighted with rustication. Along the perimeter there is a multi-profile crowning cornice and an interfloor belt made of brick. The building's façade and basement will be renovated, and the utility systems will be replaced. Specialists from the Capital Repair Fund (CRF) have developed a project that takes into account all the features of the building.

The facade renovation began with washing and cleaning open surfaces from dust and dirt. Then the builders will fill the weathered joints with a special compound and replace individual brick segments. Wet areas will be treated with antiseptic solutions. After a set of preparatory works, specialists will begin hydrophobization of the brickwork. This will help prevent the aggressive impact of precipitation on the walls of the building. At the last stage, the entrances and balconies will be repaired, and new drainpipes will be hung.

In addition, the basement areas of the building will be tidied up and the drainage, central heating, hot and cold water supply systems will be replaced.

L-shape and decorative tiles

Work is also underway in the building at 97 Altufevskoe Shosse. It was built in 1979 according to a standard series project. The house has an L-shaped plan and consists of two volumes.

The specialists will put the facade, roof, basement in order, and also replace a number of internal engineering systems. Particular attention will be paid to the renovation of the building walls, which were finished with decorative tiles at the factory. In almost half a century, they have lost their color, and in some places they have fallen off. To restore facades of this type, the Moscow FKR has developed a special technology using polymer-cement mixtures on reinforcing meshes. The composition can be applied directly to the old tiles.

For the convenience of residents, the work was divided into stages. First, specialists will wash open surfaces, tap and remove peeling tiles. Then they will apply a special plaster-adhesive and at the same time reinforcing composition, which contains a fiberglass or basalt fiber mesh. After the base layer, it will be time to apply decorative plaster, a special vapor-permeable paint coating, and seal the interpanel seams. The facade will be painted white and yellow.

In addition, the entrance groups will be put in order and the basement covering will be renewed. New modern double-glazed windows will be installed in the entrances. The roof decking will be replaced, the screed will be renewed, the slope will be restored and soft roofing will be laid. The basement of the building will also be put in order and the utility lines will be replaced.

Simple shapes, loggia niches and color accents

In 2025, a major overhaul of a residential building located at 5 Kolomenskaya Street, Building 2 is underway. This is a sixteen-story panel building, erected according to a standard series in 1983. Its main façade is accentuated by protruding vestibules of entrance groups. The loggia niches are highlighted in color.

The facade is planned to be updated here. The work will begin with washing open surfaces and clearing interpanel seams from old filling. At the next stage, wet areas will be treated with antiseptic solutions. Then specialists will start laying insulation in the interpanel seams. After that, a new paint layer will be applied to the walls and the interpanel seams will be sealed with a two-component composition. The facade will be painted white and blue.

At the final stage of the major renovation of the facade, specialists will replace the balcony screens, level the balcony slabs and lay new flooring, as well as repair the basement of the building and make a new asphalt concrete blind area.

The Moscow City Services Complex noted that the regional housing stock capital repairs program being implemented in the capital is in line with the goals and objectives of the national project "Infrastructure for life".
