Today, millions of citizens of our country are actively involved in the volunteer movement.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko congratulated Russians on Volunteer Day, celebrated annually on December 5.

"Today, millions of our country's citizens are actively involved in the volunteer movement. Over the past five years, the number of Russians volunteering has more than tripled—from 10% to 32%. Over 9 million people have joined the Dobro.RF platform. As President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin says, the desire to help those in need has been present throughout our country's history, passed down from generation to generation. Every day, our volunteers prove this to be true. They are caring, responsible, and kind people who have chosen service as their life's work," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

He recalled that the volunteer movement in Russia emerged during preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Twenty-six flagship universities across the country were selected through a competition to host the first volunteer centers. The winning universities were awarded diplomas, which were presented by the President of Russia.

"All those wishing to become volunteers went through a complex selection process, and at the Games, our assistants—a team of 25,000 people—worked in 17 different areas, from meeting delegations at the airport to assisting with the organization of ceremonies," said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

Today, millions of citizens of our country are actively involved in the volunteer movement.

He emphasized that volunteers are always among the first to respond to the challenges of the times. "This was the case during the coronavirus pandemic and after the start of the special military operation, when they demonstrated true patriotism and civic commitment, supporting our heroes on the front lines, their families, and the residents of Donbas, Novorossiya, and border regions," added Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The President has repeatedly emphasized that the volunteer movement will continue to develop in Russia, the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

“New volunteer centers and headquarters are regularly opening throughout Russia

Dmitry Chernyshenko wished the volunteers good health, boundless energy, success in their noble cause, and as many like-minded people as possible.

The White Hall was transformed for a performance by ballet dancers – the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet began collaborating with the main cultural institution, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

The Polytechnic University managed to prepare a special ballet stage covering and provide lighting for the production to ensure a successful premiere.

This isn't a coincidence: over a hundred years ago, the legendary Matilda Kschessinska danced on this very stage. Today, young dancers continue this tradition, filling the hall with the same inspiring atmosphere that once accompanied the famous ballerina's performances. "The transformation of the White Hall stage into a ballet stage has become a symbol of the continuity of generations and a living connection between the history of the Polytechnic University and the history of Russian ballet," noted Boris Kondin, Head of the SPbPU Directorate of Cultural Programs and Youth Creativity.

Students from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet's Choreography Department performed a program that combined a contemporary approach to the art of dance with a commitment to the traditions of the great Vaganova school. In the choreographic cycle "Creations," they explored the eternal themes of choosing one's path in life and finding one's guiding star. They presented one of the most famous Old Testament stories, "Cain and Abel," and a poetic interpretation of the ancient Greek myth, "The Abduction of Europa," as well as a choreographic interpretation of Alexander Mitta's Soviet film, "The Tale of Wanderings."

New music by Sofia Gubaidullina, David Lang, Arvo Pärt and Alfred Schnittke was also performed in the White Hall.

"I'm proud that St. Petersburg has such a strong school of contemporary dance, and that the new generation of choreographers are so free in their stage designs that they can offer the kind of performance we saw today," shared Yulia Smirnova, a fourth-year student at the SPbPU State Institute of Dance. "And the White Hall, with its extraordinary lighting, is the perfect stage for it."

The collaboration between the Polytechnic University and the Academy of Russian Ballet is based on a commitment to preserving and developing Russian culture, inspiring through aesthetic education, and making choreographic art accessible to everyone, as the White Hall is known for its affordable ticket prices and discounts for students, schoolchildren, and pensioners.

Ballet performances will become regular events in the White Hall, with the upcoming performance featuring the fairytale ballet "The Little Humpbacked Horse." On December 27, the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet will present New Year's adventures and graceful choreography in the ceremonial setting of the White Hall.

On November 30, the All-Russian Mathematical Dictation, organized by Novosibirsk State University, took place Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics (MMF) with the support of the T-Education project. The event was part of a larger campaign that took place this year at 25 offline locations across the country, as well as online, and attracted over 50,000 participants. Around 150 people registered at the NSU site. Schoolchildren, students, and anyone who loves the exact sciences came to write their papers in person on a frosty Sunday.

The dictation took place in the auditorium of the NSU flow auditorium building, which is part of the second stage of the project. new campus of NSU, being built as part of the national project "Youth and Children." At NSU, as at other venues, 10 winners were selected for scoring the highest number of points based on the assessment results. They were awarded commemorative prizes from T-Education.

Before the dictation began, participants were greeted by T-Education representative Natalia Bogdanova, who noted the scale of the event and the importance of mathematical literacy in everyday life:

"This is a major intellectual event; over 50,000 people registered for platforms across Russia. Why is T-Bank supporting this event? Because mathematics is everywhere. We assess risks and make decisions, test new functionality, and protect our clients from fraud using mathematical tools."

The dictation rules were simple. Participants solve 15 problems of varying difficulty: 10 with short answers and 5 with detailed solutions. No outside assistance is permitted during the dictation. Two hours are allotted for the entire test, and upon completion, everyone receives a certificate.

The organizer of the dictation at NSU was Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, who is actively involved in popularizing mathematics. Sergey Bolgarin, a senior lecturer in the programming department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mathematics, noted the university's long-standing collaboration with T-Bank:

"Of course, this isn't the first project we've run with T-Bank. For example, as part of the Big Mathematical Workshop, T-Bank initiated several projects and sponsored and organized intellectual social events. We're grateful to our partner for the opportunity to participate in the All-Russian Mathematical Dictation. I believe Akademgorodok is an interesting venue for the event, as participants have the opportunity to see the new NSU campus and take a walk in nature. For applicants, this is an opportunity to see the university where they'll be studying."

Nikita Bozhkov, a student and graduate, who participated in the dictation, shared his impressions. Specialized Scientific Center of Novosibirsk State University:

I saw the news about the dictation and decided to give it a try. I wanted to see if I could solve the problems. The most frustrating was the probability problem—I kind of got it right, but then again, I didn't. The graph problems were pleasant: the numbers were easy and pretty. The problem about the perimeters of a triangle and a hexagon and comparing their areas was interesting. It was about as difficult as the Unified State Exam (USE). If you'd taken the USE exam, you could easily solve it in an hour or an hour and a half.

During the break between the dictation and the awards ceremony, the participants were offered a quiz from students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mathematics of NSU and an interactive exhibition. mathematical festival "This is Mathematics".

This is not the first time NSU has participated in federal educational projects, and the All-Russian Mathematical Dictation marked another step in popularizing the sciences among schoolchildren and students. Despite the cold and the fact that it was a Sunday, the participants had the opportunity to test themselves, refresh their knowledge, and experience the atmosphere of an intellectual community that unites people across the country.
