A delegation of nine tribology professors from China visited the BaltTribo-Polytechnic International Scientific and Educational Center at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials, and Transport at SPbPU. The visit was organized at the recommendation of Academicians Nikolai Myshkin (Belarus) and Irina Goryacheva (Russia) and at the initiative of Tsinghua University.

All these years, the university and the museum have been developing and improving the engineering and security systems of the Hermitage, conducting scientific research, interacting in expert and information-analytical activities, joint public and youth projects, in the field of employment and job placement.

The new creative initiative was born as a result of mutual interest and cooperation between the press services of both institutions and has evolved into a large-scale joint project.

"The idea is to connect masterpieces of the past with the achievements of modern science," said Marianna Dyakova, Head of the SPbPU Public Relations Department. "The project is based on searching for parallels between the museum exhibits and the scientific developments of Polytechnic University scientists. For example, research in the field of lithium-ion batteries is reflected in antique mechanical watches from the museum collection. More than a dozen such interesting intersections have already been found, and work on new ideas continues."

In the first episode of Formula of Art, viewers are invited to take a journey from the Middle Ages to the present day. The subject of the research was the protective clothing of warriors five hundred years ago and now. The role of an expert on knightly armor was played by Yuri Efimov, a senior researcher at the Arsenal Department of the State Hermitage. Straight from the Knights' Hall of the Hermitage, we are transported to the Scientific and Educational Center of the Polytechnic University "Mechanical Engineering Technologies and Materials", where its director Pavel Novikov talks about modern protective equipment.

The target audience of the project is the broadest circles of the public. SPbPU and the Multicenter for Social and Labor Integration of the Leningrad Region have joined forces to support veterans of the SVO

On September 4, a ceremonial event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the institution took place in Vsevolozhsk at the site of the Multicenter for Social and Labor Integration. In the presence of the Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko, the rector of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Andrey Rudskoy and the director of the Multicenter Irina Drozdenko signed an agreement on strategic partnership. The agreement provides for the development of joint activities in the educational, scientific, technical and social spheres with an emphasis on supporting participants and veterans of the special military operation and is aimed at strengthening the country's technological leadership in accordance with the goals of the federal program "Priority-2030".

The cooperation is being developed as a systemic project of SPbPU — from identifying educational needs and forming a network of partners to designing digital tools and implementing adapted retraining programs. The work is coordinated by the Directorate of Continuing Education and Industry Partnership of SPbPU together with the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Transport of the university, which ensures the integration of engineering training with social support mechanisms.

In the near future, a network training and production center for training operators of CNC machines will be opened on the basis of the Multicenter. The emergence of such a laboratory will become an important milestone in applied engineering training and will expand the opportunities for professional retraining for those who have returned from the front and are striving for sustainable employment in industry.

Commenting on the agreements reached, Andrey Rudskoy emphasized: Over the past ten years, the Multicenter has become not just an educational institution, but a real school of social integration and a reliable support for those who especially need help. Support for veterans of the SVO at the Polytechnic is based on a systemic approach: we do not limit ourselves to individual courses, but build holistic educational trajectories – from diagnostics and career guidance to professional retraining and employment. This format allows not only to adapt to civilian life, but also to obtain in-demand competencies for participation in the development of the economy and technological leadership of the country.

Vice-Rector for Continuing and Pre-University Education at SPbPU Dmitry Tikhonov also outlined his position: Cooperation with the Multicenter is of particular importance to us in the context of creating the Polytechnic Center for Professional Development and New Competencies for Veterans of the SVO. The Polytechnic is already launching the first programs and recruiting military personnel who are fulfilling their military duty for training. In the coming months, we will launch pilot courses to fine-tune the mechanisms of mentoring, internships, and subsequent employment. Our task is to ensure a rapid, practice-oriented transition to in-demand engineering specializations.

The signing of the agreement was a logical continuation of the development of the partnership between SPbPU and the Multicenter insupport for veterans of the SVO and their involvement in solving technological leadership problems. The current stage expands the horizons of cooperation, transforming individual initiatives into a holistic and replicable model – with clear entrances for participants, transparent navigation, mentor support and direct communication with industry requests. The combined efforts of SPbPU and the Multicenter form a sustainable practice that combines respect for human experience with modern technological solutions, and serves as a basis for further scaling in the interests of the region and the country.
