This year, World Teachers' Day fell on the first Sunday in October. In Russia, this professional holiday for domestic teachers was celebrated on this day until 1994, when it was merged with the global date recently established by UNESCO.

According to the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center, in 2012, only 4% of Russians considered teaching prestigious. By last year, this figure had risen to 16%. And the profession's popularity continues to grow. The current academic year's admissions campaign attracted a record number of applications for teacher training programs – over 541,000, a quarter more than last year. On average, there were 16 applicants per spot.

Although most associate Teacher's Day with schools, it also concerns all employees in the education sector. Therefore, the State University of Management congratulates its entire faculty, but with special warmth we extend our best wishes to the teachers of our Pre-University. On October 3, 2025, the results of the 5th International Financial Security Olympiad in Krasnoyarsk were announced. Maria Vikulova, a student in the World Economy program at the Institute of Economics and Finance and head of the State University of Management's (GUU) student council, won the prize in the International Relations category.

In addition to her, two more of our students and three students from the Pre-University School participated in the finals, and Rector Vladimir Stroyev gave a lecture on the specifics of the Russian governance system as part of the educational program. A total of 600 people out of 65,000 who applied made it to the final round.

We share our impressions of the finale firsthand from today's heroine:

"From the moment I entered the State University of Management, I was passionate about my studies and university life and couldn't imagine my life without them. I see this as a defining stage in a person's life, one that largely determines their future position in society, their interests, and their social circle. That's why I decided to participate in the International Financial Security Olympiad in my specialized area. Of course, I devoted a lot of time and effort to preparing, and it paid off; I won a prize in my section of the Olympiad. However, it gave me something more: the experience of interacting with the international community and like-minded people who are equally interested in this topic. In the future, I hope to become a true professional in my field, worthy of standing guard over my country," says Maria Vikulova.

October 3 marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of one of the most beloved, revered, and widely read Russian poets, Sergei Yesenin.

"The last poet of the village" was born in 1895 in the village of Konstantinovo in the Ryazan province. Thanks to his upbringing in a wealthy family, the peasant's son received a good education and by the age of 15 began writing poetry regularly. After his first publication in the children's magazine "Mirok," he joined the Surikov literary and musical circle and managed to meet the leader of the Russian Symbolists, Alexander Blok, from whom he received letters of recommendation.

Having entered the literary community of Petrograd, the young Yesenin began performing together with the representative of the new peasant poets, Nikolai Klyuev, in the guise of folk storytellers, through which he gained his first popularity, including in court circles.

In 1918, he moved to Moscow and became a member of the local writers' union. There, he met Anatoly Mariengof and Vadim Shershenevich, with whom he co-authored the Imagists' "Declaration." Until the end of his life, Yesenin remained one of the leading theorists and leaders of this literary movement.

The poet's work, dedicated to the nature of his native land, love for women, and the tranquility of rural and cheerful city life, was distinguished by its vivid imagery and remains relevant today. His poems are taught in schools and set to music by renowned performers, from Alexander Vertinsky, Ivan Kozlovsky, and Muslim Magomayev to Misha Mavashi, the band Mongol Shuudan, and Bring Me the Horizon. Each of us remembers at least one line from Yesenin, which can now be seen in word clouds on screens at the State University of Management.

On October 2, the State University of Management hosted a unique meeting with renowned figure skater and producer Ilya Averbukh and Zlata Chepurnaya, director of the Star Landing project, as part of the "Knowledge.Sport" project. The event was organized by the Russian "Knowledge" Society.

The event was opened by Vladimir Stroev, Rector of the State University of Management, with a welcoming speech:

"Today we'll be engaging in dialogue with true legends in their fields. Those studying in fields related to sports, management, event planning, and more will be especially interested in listening to the guests' presentations, talking with them, and learning how to achieve success in these fields. The main benefit of such interaction is that it inspires new achievements and steps toward career and life development."

The discussion with the stars took place in a question-and-answer format. The session was moderated by Anna Khaustova, Program Director of the Boiling Point at the State University of Management, and Nikita Smirnov, a third-year student in the Department of Public and Municipal Administration.

Zlata Chepurnaya spoke about the history of the "Starship Troopers" project and the creation of the team's anthem, the importance and benefits of a healthy lifestyle, her personal experience, and her plans for the future.

"The idea for the project came to me in 2014 at the 'Race of Heroes,' when I asked myself, 'What could I do in the event of real combat? How can I be of service to my country?' And so I decided to promote sports, a healthy lifestyle, and a responsible attitude toward the planet and people. Together with a team of famous athletes, presenters, actors, and other media personalities, we host various events where everyone can test their strengths, prove themselves, and become healthier and happier," Zlata shared.

To back up her words, the guest led a warm-up session, which was attended not only by students but also by the meeting moderators, as well as Ilya Averbukh.

The next part of the meeting was devoted to the second guest. The Olympic silver medalist, choreographer, and ice show producer spoke frankly about his journey in sports and after retirement, as well as his reasons for returning to Russia and creating ice shows. But the most important part of his speech was the powerful motivation for anyone who wants to succeed:

"Don't be afraid to start doing something. The main thing is to do it. Gradually, what you need will come to you: people, resources, opportunities, results. Therefore, it's worth pursuing even the most seemingly mythical plans. Be prepared to pursue your goal, be open to advice, listen to advice, and learn new things. Don't waste time; win here and now. Even if you don't immediately become the best at something, it's not a failure, but a test of your strength, emotions, and abilities. Don't hoard your strength, and then the story of your victories will be with you."

Students in the audience also asked questions. They were interested in the books the guests were reading, ways to combat anxiety and burnout, the recovery period after injuries, and, of course, the demand for sports managers.

Zlata Chepurnaya named her favorite works about the subconscious and the universe as a whole, advised turning fear into strength, and also recommended finding a place of power where you can recharge in a matter of hours.

Ilya Averbukh, for his part, explained that it's impossible to completely overcome anxiety; you just need to train your body and mind to act clearly and correctly, despite distractions. The athlete also admitted that despite understanding the importance of rest and periodic disconnection from the outside world, he doesn't practice this in his own life because he doesn't want to miss out on opportunities and worries that it will be difficult to return to his usual busy lifestyle after a break.

Ilya Averbukh also emphasized the importance of having a professional manager for an athlete. This person helps shape the athlete's image, navigate the world of contracts and offers, seeks out interesting proposals, and is an integral part of the athlete's team.

It's worth noting that the Russian Society "Knowledge," with the support of the Russian Ministry of Sport, is implementing the Znanie.Sport project, which aims to promote physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among young people. Young people are taught the principles of proper nutrition, daily routines, and how to achieve victory. The project launched on September 8 and will cover all regions of the country. Events include lectures, film screenings, and quizzes.

The Siberian Federal University continues its intensive educational program for finalists of the 5th International Financial Security Olympiad, with Vladimir Stroyev, Rector of the State University of Management, participating.

Rectors of the country's leading universities, which train specialists in various fields of technological, economic, legal, and information security, give lectures to Olympiad participants and SFU students.

The lecture by the rector of the State University of Management (GUU) focused on the domestic governance model. Vladimir Stroyev discussed its characteristics, which partly correspond to the principles of the planned economy developed and successfully applied in the USSR. A particularly interesting feature of the lecture was a critical analysis of the Russian governance model proposed by artificial intelligence. The rector pointed out to the students typical cliches and stereotypes about the Russian economy that the AI had gleaned from Western scientific literature.

"The problem is that they're trying to apply traditional Western governance models to Russia, but given geopolitical, cultural, and historical circumstances, these models are ineffective and sometimes even dangerous for the country. Moreover, some of the country's governance know-how is now being successfully used worldwide, but credited to everyone but Russia," Vladimir Stroyev noted.

The rector of the State University of Management then went on to examine in detail the historical and cultural origins of the Russian model of governance, including geography, the communal and collectivist nature of the Russian people, the influence of Orthodoxy with its idea of service, and the Soviet legacy of a planned economy.

Vladimir Stroyev mentioned the significant contribution of Olimpiada Kozlova, rector of the Moscow Engineering and Economics Institute (now the State University of Management), to the systematization and theoretical substantiation of management science in our country, whose work laid the foundation for the subsequent development of management in the USSR and Russia.

"Today, the Russian economy and the domestic management school are being called mobilizational, in an attempt to prove that Russia cannot live in peace. But most of the country's crises occurred precisely when attempts were made to apply European management models to us, without adaptation, without taking into account our traditions and mentality. The Russian management school needs to be studied, implemented, and described," Vladimir Stroyev concluded.

On October 1, 2025, the Lomonosov cluster hosted the 3rd International Forum of Digital Technologies in Transport and Logistics, "Digital Transportation 2025," which was attended by GUU employees.

The forum's business program was structured around key areas aimed at ensuring Russia's digital sovereignty: developing Russia's own advanced solutions, implementing digital technologies in the transport sector and regional development, supporting domestic companies, and strengthening the national economy's position in the global market. Representatives of government, science, and business gathered to engage in an honest and open dialogue about the results and prospects of transport transformation. SUM represented the forum by representatives of the Department of Transport Complex Management: Associate Professor Artem Merenkov and Assistant Professor Dmitry Rogov, Director of the SUM Business Incubator.

The central event of the day was the plenary session "Russia's Digital Path: Shaping the Industry's Future," opened by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and his Deputy, Vitaly Savelyev. The panelists highlighted key trends in the digital transformation of our country's transport industry, which are essential for achieving sustainable leadership in the new reality. Participants included Russian Transport Minister and GUU graduate Andrey Nikitin, Minister of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media Maksut Shadayev, Aeroflot CEO Sergey Aleksandrovsky, Russian Railways CEO and Chairman of the Management Board Oleg Belozerov, 1C Director Boris Nuraliyev, Yandex.Taxi CEO Alexander Anikin, Monopoly Group Chairman of the Board of Directors Ilya Dmitriev, and SKB Kontur Group CEO Mikhail Srodnykh. Today, more than ever, it is important to pool our resources and expertise to implement cutting-edge technologies that will not only enhance the industry's competitiveness but also improve the quality of life for citizens," said Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin in his speech.

Maksut Shadayev, Head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media, in turn, emphasized the importance of transitioning to Russian digital solutions and implementing unmanned systems throughout the country. According to the minister, one of the key achievements was the introduction of mandatory electronic document management on September 1, which will significantly simplify and speed up logistics operations at all levels. "This is a fundamental step; we couldn't decide on it for a long time, but it's simply burning bridges and a one-way street. Technologically, we are ready for it," Maksut Shadayev concluded.

The forum also featured a meeting of the State Council of Russia's Commission on "Efficient Transport System," dedicated to digitalization. The discussion focused on intelligent transport systems, the experience of implementing digital solutions in the regions, and the mandatory nature of electronic document management in transport.

Another key event of the Digital Transportation Forum was a practical discussion dedicated to the development of human resources in the transport industry. Leading experts discussed the specialists needed in digital transport today, which is especially important for overcoming the technological challenges facing our country.

A delegation from the State University of Management participated in the final events of the 5th International Financial Security Olympiad, the grand opening of which took place on September 29 in Krasnoyarsk.

More than 65,000 people took part in the main stages of the Olympiad, of which approximately 600 schoolchildren and students from 40 countries advanced to the final stage.

Our university is represented by three students from the Institute of Economics and Finance: Maria Vikulova, Mikhail Andrianov, and Anastasia Zorina. Students from the State University of Management's Pre-University Program also reached the finals for the first time: Konstantin Volodin, Yulia Malikova, and Askar Tavabilov.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a video message to the Olympiad participants and guests: "It is gratifying that the Olympiad has become part of the systemic, multifaceted efforts of the state and society to increase access to modern knowledge and to unlock the creative potential and talents of the younger generation—those who are committed to professional success and creative work."

Greetings from the stage were given by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia for the Siberian Federal District Anatoly Seryshev, Head of Rosfinmonitoring Yuri Chikhanchin, and others.

As part of the final events, representatives of the academic community met with Dmitry Chernyshenko, Chairman of the Presidium of the International Movement for Financial Security. The meeting was attended by Vladimir Stroyev, Rector of the State University of Management, Vitaly Lapshenkov, Vice-Rector, and Galina Sorokina, Acting Director of the Institute of Economics and Finance. During the discussions, key areas for the Movement's development were outlined.

As a reminder, the International Financial Security Olympiad has been held since 2021 under the auspices of the President of Russia and the Government of the Russian Federation, and representatives of the State University of Management regularly participate actively. In 2023, the State University of Management hosted the preliminary stages in new constituent entities of the Russian Federation, and university representatives received awards for their significant contribution to the development of the Olympiad movement. In 2024, two students from the State University of Management won prizes in the Olympiad.
