Vladimir Stroyev, Rector of the State University of Management, participated in the So.Znanie Responsible Business Forum, which took place on October 17 in Nizhny Novgorod.

The forum brought together leading experts from government, commerce, and education. The plenary session featured speeches from Igor Shchegolev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Central Federal District; Igor Komarov, Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Volga Federal District; Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region; Alexander Avdeyev, Governor of the Vladimir Region; Olga Batalina, First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection; Denis Butsayev, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment; Timur Shinaliev, Deputy Head of the Federal Tax Service; and Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

The forum focused on the implementation of ECG ratings as a tool for assessing the business reputation of companies and creating incentives for responsible business practices.

ECG rating: theory and practice

Our university is not simply participating in the discussions; it is actively developing the new ranking system. Since February 2025, SUM experts have reviewed over 200 questionnaires from participating companies and are providing consultations on completing the documents in constant contact with business representatives.

Ecology, personnel, state

The national standard has been in effect since 2024, essentially serving as a "certificate of integrity" for businesses. It establishes a business assessment methodology aimed at determining the level of trustworthiness, social, and environmental responsibility. The assessment is conducted in three areas: "E" — ecology and responsible attitude toward the environment; "K" — personnel, social policy, and corporate culture; and "G" — government, transparency, and partnership with government agencies.

The business program included more than 20 sessions devoted to economic, social policy, demography, and environmental issues.

Forum participants discussed priority development areas in demography, social policy, ecology, corporate culture, and business-government partnerships, and developed proposals to strengthen the role of responsible business in the country's development.

The So.Znanie ECG Forum is supported by the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District and the Nizhny Novgorod Region Government. Event partners include Sber and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, and business partner Ruspolimet.

From October 15-17, the 2nd All-Russian Conference "Project Offices: Successful Strategies and Tactics" was held in Moscow, with students from the State University of Management taking part.

The All-Russian Conference "Project Offices: Successful Strategies and Tactics" is a key meeting for project office managers and their teams to discuss the transformation of their role and share experiences in applying the project-based approach in various business sectors.

This year's conference consisted of four tracks: Project Offices and Portfolio Management. Practices and Competencies; Change Management: Change Leadership Skills; Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Digital Transformation; and Product Transformation of the Project Office.

The conference was attended by over 500 people, and more than 80 speakers delivered speeches, including heads of project offices and project management departments from JSC GT Energo, JSC Zeta Insurance, JSC KAMA, JSC GNIVC, Gazprom TsPS LLC, JSC NPK Tekhmash, JSC TVEL (Rosatom State Corporation), PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, PJSC VimpelCom, OJSC TMK, JSC Rosgeologiya, and many others.

Among the speakers were also the heads of leading professional organizations in the field of project management in Russia: – Alexander Tovb A.S., President of the Project Management Association "SOVNET"; – Kutuzov A.S., Senior Vice President of OOO "PIEMSI" (PM Excellence); – Klimenko O.A., President of AMP "Project Alliance"; – Kim Yu.V., General Director of ANO "TsORPU" ("Center for Assessment and Development of Project Management").

The event provided a platform for productive dialogue between specialists in the fields of project, program, and portfolio management.

On the first day, key topics focused on project office trends in large companies. Experienced executives shared case studies on digital process transformation, efficiency improvement, and the implementation of agile methodologies.

The second day was devoted to the product transformation of the project office, the specifics of product project management, and product management tools. The discussion focused on how artificial intelligence technologies are already evolving and transforming project management: from risk forecasting and routine automation to intelligent data analysis for strategic decision-making. The information gained opens new horizons for practical application in the professional work of project managers.

Fourth-year undergraduate students from the Project Management Department, Sofya Gudkova and Angelina Ryzhova, participated in the conference and discussed the significance of this event for their academic work:

"We thank Alexander Samuilovich Tovba and Ekaterina Andreevna Khalimon for the opportunity to attend the conference! It was crucial for us to attend the event, as since the beginning of the year we've been researching the role and function of project management offices in implementing organizational strategy. However, the information found in academic and online sources is more general, theoretical, and methodological in nature, and most sources focus on the pre-pandemic period. We desperately needed up-to-date information from practitioners."

At the All-Russian Children's Center "Ocean," schoolchildren met with the Minister of Economic Development of Primorsky Krai.

A significant meeting for participants in the "Business and Entrepreneurship Course" module, offered by the State University of Management, was held at the All-Russian Children's Center "Ocean" as part of the "Professional Trials" educational program. Primorsky Krai Minister of Economic Development Andrey Blokhin was a guest.

"Every large business was once small. We all understand perfectly well that we have to start somewhere. You, young people, are still thinking outside the box; you may have a different approach and vision for business development. Using new technologies, like artificial intelligence, is already challenging for many adults, but not for you. Our main goal is to attract you to business and develop our economy," Andrei Blokhin told the schoolchildren.

First, the students heard a report on the development of entrepreneurship in the Far East. The minister described support measures, business projects underway in Primorye, and the grant system. He shared his personal experiences and discussed real-life cases and challenges facing the modern world with the teenagers. Afterward, each young entrepreneur had the opportunity to have their questions answered in a lively and open dialogue.

"I really enjoyed the meeting—we had a truly interesting guest. The minister spoke about business support measures in Primorsky Krai. This was very useful for me, as I plan to move to Vladivostok to live and study, and eventually start my own business. And I was interested to hear and learn about the region's future plans for entrepreneurship," shared Valeria Babicheva (Kemerovo Region).

For schoolchildren, this meeting was a unique opportunity to gain first-hand information from someone directly involved in shaping the economic policy of one of Russia's most dynamic regions.

"The 'Business and Entrepreneurship Course' module of the 'Career Trials' program, supported by the Russian Ministry of Education, is designed to help teenagers take their first conscious steps into the world of economics and entrepreneurship. The meeting with the Minister served as a powerful stimulus and source of inspiration for them to further develop their own business ideas," noted Ekaterina Snigir, a methodologist in the educational program development department at the All-Russian Children's Center "Ocean."

As a reminder, the "Business and Entrepreneurship Course" program is being implemented by the State University of Management at the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, with the support of the "Our Future" regional social programs fund and Sberbank of Russia. The course is designed for students aged 14 to 17 and aims to develop project-based thinking, foster entrepreneurial competencies, and motivate them to make informed career choices in business and management.

From the Big Top to the World Stage: 145 Years of the Tsvetnoy Circus

Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

On October 20, 1880, the Moscow Circus named after Yuri Nikulin gave its first performance on Tsvetnoy Boulevard—that very positive place where even a serious leader can allow himself to be a carefree child.

Albert Salamonsky founded the capital's circus and immediately made it famous: for the first time, they began inviting not only the most famous circus performers but also singers and folk musicians, and they also staged complex mass acts, with up to 35 horses performing in the arena. Incidentally, it was Salamonsky who came up with the idea of creating performances and New Year's parties for the youngest audiences—before him, circus shows were considered "inappropriate for children."

At first, spectators had access to only a few rows of seats and a standing gallery, but eventually the building was expanded. In 1919, the circus became state-owned, and performances continued even during the war.

The Imaginarium of Director Nikulin

In 1946, the nation's favorite circus performer, Yuri Nikulin, began his rise to fame here at the Clowning Studio. After 36 years with the circus, this legendary Soviet artist took over and oversaw a major renovation—the renovated hall opened on September 29, 1989.

They say that during the renovation, the director closely monitored the new building to ensure that there were comfortable restrooms, as children attend the performances and they should be comfortable everywhere.

But Nikulin wasn't only concerned with hygiene. Thanks to his efforts, the complex now boasts a unique air conditioning system, a rehearsal arena with a 20-meter dome, a hotel for performers, a Circus Arts Museum, a school-studio, and an on-site veterinary clinic.

Through thorns to the stars

The Russian circus of the 20th century conquered the world, with Western newspapers writing: "The Bolshoi Theatre won our hearts, and the Moscow Circus took them with it." At the turn of the century, one of the world's finest arenas encountered temporary financial difficulties, so some of its performers left to work for other companies, including the renowned Cirque du Soleil.

These days, the Circus on Tsvetnoy is doing remarkably well again—ticket sales are up to 98.5%, and each show impresses with its scale and the high skill of the performers.

Congratulations to our favorite artists on their anniversary!

Tradition: Father's Day is celebrated in Russia for the fifth year

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

It's the third Sunday in October, which means it's time to honor those who lead the family! The State University of Management has a special appreciation for Father's Day. Our university's experts, led by Rector Vladimir Stroyev and Director of the Institute of Distance Education Sergey Lenshin, developed a concept for developing a culture of fatherhood in Russia and drafted the Strategy for the Moscow Fathers' Council.

In honor of the holiday, last Friday our sports complex hosted "Fun Starts": children competed with their fathers in various relay races.

Incidentally, according to the latest study by the analytics company Civixplorer, a gender imbalance in the Russian population has been recorded. In our country, 63% of the population is women and 37% is men. And according to the Russian Social Fund, women outnumber pensioners by almost twice as much. In light of these facts, the value of fatherhood in Russia is significantly increasing, as is men's responsibility to their families.

In this regard, we wish all the fathers of the State University of Management—staff, alumni, and heads of student families—to be strong, caring, attentive, and reliable, to cherish their families and traditional values, to protect the dignity of their loved ones and our Fatherland. And you will be rewarded with love. Happy holidays!
