The 2nd All-Russian Interuniversity Project Festival "Project Path: From Idea to Lessons Learned" concluded at the State University of Management from December 1 to 21.

A special intensive workshop on project preparation for presentation to stakeholders and potential investors was organized for the university's top project teams. The event partnered with IPI-Lab LLC, which represents StartupChain, a digital ecosystem for startup founders. The authors of over 25 projects of various types and focus areas—research, social, consulting, and business projects—worked through their presentations with experts.

In addition, all participants took part in a public speaking training session, where they used various interactive exercises to practice proper breathing, tempo and clarity of speech, stage movement, and learned other secrets of successful presentations.

Following the training, the teams presented their projects to a panel of experts consisting of representatives from various SUM institutes and invited experts.

Maria Ancheeva, an expert with over 20 years of experience in sales, presales, and project management in IT and systems integration, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech: "Stepping onto the stage, presenting your idea for the first time, and defending it in front of the jury is already a major victory over yourself and a powerful start. You did an excellent job for your first time, and this experience is your most valuable asset today. The future is yours, you can do it!"

Oleg Melnik, Deputy General Director of DEFAN LLC and a professional project manager with experience in various applied fields, from medicine to quantum technologies, also offered helpful advice to the students: "There are no ideal conditions for a project. The best solutions come from those who have encountered the problem themselves and can't ignore it. If your project doesn't solve a problem that truly concerns you, find another topic. Don't be afraid of unconventional approaches. Analyze failures. Keep working."

Anastasia Lobacheva, Director of the SUM Project Office, emphasized: "The project presentation is an important final stage of project development. It determines how the project will be understood and accepted outside the university, and at least at the university, when it is presented to the committees. It's not enough to create a good project on a relevant topic; it's important to be able to communicate it effectively. Opportunities to practice this are relevant for students of all years and programs. Such events are a wonderful opportunity to exchange experiences, see what projects are out there, and be inspired by the experience of colleagues from other institutions."

The student participants also highly praised the event. LessonLab team leader Veronica noted that after interacting with the experts, the team received helpful advice on how to improve the project.

Projects by students from the State University of Management won the International Student Festival of Social Projects at the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) "MediaGame."

The competition annually brings together students, experts, and media professionals to develop youth social projects, where participants can bring their creative ideas to life in a media format.

More than 650 works were submitted to the competition in the categories of photo, video, poster, audio, text, and Integrated Social Project.

Students from the Institute of Marketing at the State University of Management, studying in the Advertising and Public Relations program, won in the Poster and Audio categories.

Anastasia Solovieva, a third-year student in the Advertising and Digital Design 3-1 group, prepared a winning project in the Poster category under the supervision of Olga Vasilyeva, titled "Not Everything That's Green Is Eco," dedicated to the phenomenon of greenwashing, which discredits the concept of responsible consumption.

"The composition centers on the hand of a dishonest marketer, alluding to the Grinch—a character who embodies evil and the theft of values. This visual metaphor emphasizes the manipulation that lurks behind the "green" façade: the Grinch offers consumers a product saturated with false eco-labels. The key element of the revelation is the oil stains dripping from the packaging and from the hand's fingers—a powerful visual indicator of deception that reveals the toxic reality of production hidden beneath the kraft paper," Anastasia explained the concept.

In the "Audio" category, two works by teams from the State University of Management won.

Third-year students from the "Advertising and Public Relations in Business 3-3" group, Valeria Berletova, Ilya Denishchenko, and Eva Mandzhieva, along with their academic advisor, Alexandra Timokhovich, presented an audio clip, "Loneliness in the Age of Social Media," which demonstrates how intense virtual communication can lead to feelings of isolation, depression, and a decline in real-life social connections.

Another winning project in this category was "No Right to Pause," by third-year students Vera Yurchenko and Alexandria Kostereva from the Digital Marketing Communications 3-1 group, supervised by Alexandra Timokhovich.

"Our audio clip addresses the problem of toxic productivity and overexertion facing the modern generation. Young people live in constant stress, oppressed by the imperatives of 'Be better,' 'Earn money,' 'Don't waste time,' which leads to burnout and guilt even during downtime. We chose this topic because we see how the pursuit of success robs people of simple joys and inner peace. Our goal is to provide emotional 'permission' to stop, take a breath, and remind people that life isn't just about achievements, but also the right to pause," said Alexandria Kostereva.

The competition's winners and runners-up were awarded diplomas, festival statues, and gifts from partners, including the international media network TV BRICS, which acted as the event's international media partner.

On December 22, the final meeting of the Academic Council of the State University of Management in 2025 took place.

The ceremony began, as usual, with a congratulatory ceremony, where the rector of the State University of Management not only presented awards, but also received them himself.

Thus, Vice-Rector Maria Karelina presented a commemorative plaque commemorating the signing of a memorandum of understanding on joint activities with the 33rd BARS detachment named after V. F. Margelov. Kristina Firsova, Head of the University's Electronic Dean's Office, spoke about preparations for the winter exam session of the 2025/2026 academic year.

"Today is the first day of midterm assessments; this semester, tests are being held in person. 7,500 undergraduate students attended the session, and over 2,000 master's students attended the session, and all students were admitted to the assessment," the speaker said.

Vladimir Filatov, Director of the Engineering Project Management Center (EPMC), presented the Center's work and shared its immediate prospects.

"This year, we opened several new laboratories: the RosGeoTech Industrial Innovation Lab, a digital innovation laboratory created jointly with the Millionshchikov State Petroleum Technological University, and the Numerical Control Systems (NCS) laboratory, launched thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Education and Science. Our fleet includes nine drones for various purposes, and we are ready to move on to establishing a center for unmanned aerial systems. We have completed several major projects with industrial partners and have begun new ones. In 2026, we plan to participate in the competition for inclusion in the federal project "Personnel for UAS,"" Vladimir Filatov said.

Vladimir Stroev noted that this year there has been significant growth in the university's scientific field.

"In just the last three years, the volume of scientific research has increased severalfold, and there's more to come. The state is ready to support scientific research and young scientists, so today there are all the opportunities in this area. This scientific component is important to us as we strive to revive engineering and economic education, which is more relevant today than ever. Our country needs people with an engineering education to achieve its national goals, and we can train them," concluded the SUM rector.

Sergey Chuev, an advisor to the rector's office, proposed commemorating significant figures in the history of the State University of Management by naming lecture halls after Alexey Lyalin and Mark Razu, as well as beginning a collection of materials for a book dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the State University of Management. The idea was unanimously supported.

In addition, the meeting discussed issues related to tuition discounts, the transfer of part-time students with secondary vocational education to accelerated learning, and the approval of additional professional development programs.

Students from the State University of Management won the final of the large-scale All-Russian competition "Your Move" with the track "I Do."

Third-year students from the Institute of Information Systems at the State University of Management, Lev Taran, and Nikita Kolotushkin, who is also a technician at the Digital and Intelligent Mobility Laboratory and a member of the Innovative Solutions Student Design Bureau, successfully competed as part of the interuniversity team.

The team's project, the digital platform "Ryadom," addresses the problem of low student engagement in extracurricular activities by presenting information about events across all clubs and associations in a single, convenient platform. The service includes a personalized calendar, a notification system, integration with university services, and advanced tools for organizers, including event posting, registration management, and analytics.

The project team, which included representatives from St. Petersburg State University and ITMO University alongside our students, not only won the track but also received a special award from Gazprom for the best pitch – a compelling and compelling presentation of their idea.

The "Your Move" competition is one of the largest projects for student youth, attracting over 12,700 participants in the "I Do" track in 2025. Winning the competition will qualify the project for a 1 million ruble grant for further development.

The awards ceremony took place as part of the All-Russian Student Forum "Your Move – 2025," organized by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, Rosmolodezh, the Movement of the First, Your Move, the Russian Youth Union, and the Presidential Platform "Russia – Land of Opportunities." The winning team from the State University of Management was represented by Nikita Akinshin, a specialist from the Engineering Project Management Center. The university's young scientists participated in the competition with their project "Hybrid Decision Support System: Integration of a Machine Learning Cascade and LLM for Synthesizing Analytics in Logistics," which addresses one of the key challenges of modern logistics in the transport industry: processing large volumes of disparate data.

The award was presented to our young scientist by AFK Sistema President Tagir Sitdekov. In addition to financial support, the authors of the best projects received an invitation to the School for Young Scientists and Science Organizers—a week-long intensive course to be held in February 2026 with the support of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Sistema Charitable Foundation.

In total, scientific teams and researchers from 20 regions of the country won the competition, presenting 32 works in 10 thematic categories.

On December 21, the State University of Management (SUM) hockey team, along with the Stankin team, held a special pre-New Year's training session for visually impaired children from the Fortuna adaptive hockey team as part of the Moscow Student Hockey League's "Good Hockey" project.

Fun relay races were organized for the young hockey players, and a skating Santa Claus created a festive atmosphere.

Each participant received commemorative gifts from the State University of Management, but the main gift was the communication, attention, and support of their senior comrades.

For the GUU team players, this meeting has already become a good tradition—they came to see the guys for the third time.

Team defenseman Yegor Pridanov shared his impressions: "Pre-New Year's training with the adaptive hockey team has become a real tradition for me—this is my third time coming here. The children are the most touching—their emotions are unfaithful. At times like these, you simply catch yourself thinking that this is precisely why it's worth coming again and again—to give them joy, attention, and support. December 22nd marks the anniversary of the first postage stamp in Russia. It was on this day in 1857 that the Postal Department of the Russian Empire issued a circular "On the Introduction of Postage Stamps for General Use," effective from the New Year, and the first stamps went on sale.

The First Postage Stamps: The Most Beautiful in the World

The 10-kopek stamp is considered Russia's first postage stamp, symbolizing a new stage in the development of the postal system. Philatelists have recognized these stamps as the most beautiful two-color stamps in the world.

The first copies were produced in St. Petersburg based on samples personally approved by Alexander II on October 20, 1857. They were printed on white, stiff, hand-made paper with a watermark in the form of the number "1."
